I found this salon on Yelp while visiting family in NY. Reviews were pretty good so I decided to go in for a simple wash and blow out. Staff was extremely pleasant and immediately walked me towards the shampoo station. My shampoo was amazing and was probably the best part of the entire service. Now for the not so great part... I was extremely disappointed to discover (after my hair was already soaking wet) that this salon DOES NOT offer blow-outs - even though I specifically asked for a wash& blow-out when I walked in. Instead, they dry your hair without use of a round brush and simply wave dryer back and forth behind you. I have naturally wavy hair so at this point I looked like a poodle. Then they add tons of product to your hair and flat iron it. I was disappointed but politely paid $45 ($37 and $8 tip) and left. My style lasted all of one day before it looked like my hair had been dipped in oil and I needed to wash it. My regular blow out lasts a good 5 days before I need to dry shampoo or wash. read more

We drove from Maryland for a Family event and found this Salon on Yelp. Wow they are true professionals and they treated us like family. My wife and daughter were treated like royalty and "Ramirez" was so helpful and it was quite experience to see how knowledgeable and hospitable they all were. My wife and daughter left there looking like a millions bucks. I want to thank all the ladies that work there and the owner for being so professional and making us feel as if we were part of their family. Do not come here.I few days ago I had done my hair The experience was horrible. I came a day to get my hair dyed instead of putting hair dye he put bleach. My hair was awful at that moment I wanted to die. I had told him to do something about it because I that wasn't something I asked for and bleach is a very strong product. Good thing he fixed his mistake. My hair was still messed up I decided to give it another try so I did. I had a very bad experience with a Keratin Treatment I had done a few years ago (half of my hair broke off) and due to that experience I'm very afraid of salons now. Enter, Ramirez owner of Hair Master. First, the décor of the establishment is extremely nice I was actually very surprised. They were cordial when I came in, immediately Ramirez introduced himself, listened to my many concerns (and phobia at this point) and went to work. Once he was done, I saw immediate results. My hair was shiny and had a lot of movement. I have a long way to go as it relates to length, etc. but, I have a good feeling that in the hands of Ramirez my hair will look fabulous. During, my service, he was educating me on various treatments, products and more importantly he discussed his background with me which I welcomed. He wanted to make sure I felt comfortable in his hands. He came up with a plan for my hair (I'm going to see him every 4 weeks) which I'm following and I look forward to the end result. Where do I start???? Omg this place was a complete nightmare! I was in town from LA needed to get a quick wash/blow out. Let's start with the water bath I was given while getting my hair washed the lady was so rough splashing water all over my face/eyes/clothes/even the lady sitting next to me got wet! Then she tries to roll my hair but I wanted a round brush blow dry instead which I have received before at a Dominican hair salon. Soooo then another woman comes to blow dry my hair she literally blow dries my hair with her hands no brush or combing while blow drying seriously I was appalled. Once it was "dry" she then begins to flat iron it and she tangling my hair and combing my hair so roughly with the smallest comb ever creating knots because guess what you never combed or brushed it while blowing drying it. Duh!!! Finally the owner comes over and they both tell me next time I should get a roller set it's better for my hair, first there will NEVER be a next time and don't tell me I need a roller set when I haven't gotten that since I was 10 no I'll stick to blow outs but of course by an experienced person/salon that doesn't treat hair so roughly from start to finish. I have visited this beauty salon for 5 years, they do an excellent job, very good team, a calm, welcoming, and above all are always care of your hair. My hair is a curly hair and before falling into their hands, I used relaxer, and I did not even dared to give me a color let alone other process, but since I started to visit, bye relaxer, and I do all sorts of colors, highlights, everything. Yesterday I had some that were spectacular highlight. Long time wanted to have white highlights and yesterday Ramirez did to me, I remain amazed. I don't normally leave yelp reviews, but I figured since yelp helped me find this location, I'd help others find it too. It is on 18st on the second floor, and I've passed it hundreds of times without noticing it. When i went into the salon, it took a while for someone to get to me and it was a bit warm, so I was a bit worried, but my experience after that was great. The owner, Ramirez, greeted me personally with a hug and a kiss on both cheeks, felt my hair, and then gave personal washing instructions to the lovely woman who washed my hair. She was incredibly thorough and I dont think ive ever had a wash and massage so intense. Then, I told Ramirez what I wanted, which was sort of a short spiky look (im Caucasian with mostly straight brown hair). He busted out a bunch of super professional scissors, oiled one, and gave me the nicest haircut ive had in years. The whole thing was about $40, which I honestly felt was fair considering the amount of time they spent working on me.
