This is my 4th time at this business but didn't check in till now, but felt that they deserved a great review. Place is in a very busy shopping center but has ample parking even though part of it is undergoing repairs business is open. When I first came to this business (on a holiday) I was there without an appointment and in a hurry to get a hair cut for a business trip on following day and only the owner Melinda was there as other employees had already left. She gladly too care of me giving a great hair wash, cot and style at a very reasonable price. Melinda explained she has been in the business for a long time and originally started as an employee and eventually became owner of Solon that also has many other services. The real question is always will you return? It's an option if I'm in Kendall and want something simple and friendly. Hair Trendz is a neighborhood hair salon in West Kendall. Having read the previous reviews I was excited to go check it out and then I went on my phone and saw they had a special 20% off offer on Yelp. I called and booked an apt for that same morning. Please note: There is almost no parking in this strip mall so plan 15 - 30 min for a parking expedition or just park as west as possible and walk over. Upon arriving, I was introduced to my stylist and I explained what I'd like which included a conditioning treatment. Please remind them to get you something to put over your clothes. The young lady doing the shampooing got me wet enough that she felt she needed to put a towel up the back of my shirt.... not so awesome. While I was under the hair dryer, I wasn't offered water, coffee, a magazine, etc. I don't blame anyone I just think it's an oversight. When I was getting my hair cut, it was pleasant but again no offers. I had to ask for a magazine. This is when I began to think of that show on Bravo when there are salon takeovers. Tabatha could help them so much. My stylist had talent and skills. But the place feels disorganized and hospitality isn't their strong suit. Again: The real question is always will you return? Love coming hair. Staff is very nice starting at the front desk and continues with the staff. I personally came here specifically for Ari. Started with Ari at another salon over 14 years ago. At first I only did my weekly manicure with her then decided to try having my hair services with her. Yes she is skilled in hair also. I have curly hair and have always been concerned with anyone I allowed to do my color, cut. Ari knocked it out of the park and have been doing my hair with her for about 12 years. Next, waxing and bam again excellent job. She is a " One stop salon" Very professional and very skilled at all three areas nails, hair and waxing. I jus got out of Hair Trendz where I got my hair done with Lisa Marie. I am so happy that I felt I HAD to write this review!! I went in with a major color correction situation. I have been dying my own hair with at home box color. So needless to say, it was not in the best condition. Melinda, the owner greeted me and introduced me to Lisa Marie. Lisa Marie asked me what I was looking for and once she had a good idea of what I wanted-she was very good about explaining all that it entailed. This made me feel a lot better because I sort of knew what to expect-I say sort of because with box color you never know-she taught me that! Throughout the process she was very patient and funny and I really enjoyed getting to know her. I have to say that although it was a long process (about 4 hours) it was 100 percent worth it!! My hair looks waaay better than I thought it would! I thought it was going to take multiple visits and a lot of time but Lisa Marie got it done in one shot! I am SO happy with my hair and I am so happy that I now have a fantastically funny and funky hair guru close to home! If you are like me and are looking for recent reviews about this place-just go! I have been to countless salons and had my hair ruined and cut off due to bad cuts. I have always missed my girl in Orlando and considered driving to Orlando every 3 months to get my hair done.... This place is the BEST!! I've been going to Hair Trendz for a little over a year now and I cannot stress how happy I am with their services that I refuse to go anywhere else! For years I would go to other salons, no matter what the price, that would meet my needs (which were quite simple) and all I got was frustration cause after my simple explanations of what I wanted, I would either get a typical cut with tons of layers or they would just get scissor-happy right after I let them know that my hair didn't grow very well or they didn't even know how to properly color my hair...which resulted in an utter mess!! Well, let me just say that, my hair is now the healthiest it's ever been and is growing like never before and I know it's because of the high-quality products they use and the fact that since day 1, they understood my hair and how to cut it properly, without a lengthy explanation of what I wanted done!! Melinda, the owner, is absolutely fabulous and is truly an amazing person and beautician. The store is always spotless and her staff is always so friendly & pleasant, it makes you feel so welcome, almost at home! This was the worst experience I have ever had in having my hair done. It's been a while since I've done anything dramatic to my hair and this place confirms all the fears you get about change. Kim did my hair, I got color and cut. My hair came out the completely wrong color of what I had asked for and I even showed her a picture. There are now three distinctly different colors in my hair, my roots, the middle and then my tips. Not to mention I left the salon with dye still on my forehead! I had to go home and try to scrub it off because I had somewhere to be. My cut was horrible, it was a simple cut to get rid of split ends and she hacked it! There are so many choppy parts to my hair now. It was expensive too! For a good job it would be worth it but it was over $150 and now I have to pay someone else to fix this disaster. She also was very intimidating and made me feel really bad like I was bothering her to be there. I think she had somewhere to be and I guess my request was going to take too long, so I am very sure she just rushed through my hair appointment. True,,,they use TOP BRAND hair products, but not worth the hassle or money of going there. The salon is mediocre, but yet charges like it's a high class salon. Getting a parking space is a mission. I have had hightlights and lowlights done and they've turned out alright, however the stylist really doesn't do that great a job cutting my hair. Last Saturday I had a 3 o'clock appointment (had made the appointment 4 days prior). I really needed my hair colored because I was going to an important function that evening. ...I arrived at the salon "on-time" and my stylist, Nancy, is just starting on another customer. Nancy tells me she is running a little behind, so I sat down like a dummy and waited for 45min. The owner/manager approached Nancy and I could hear them arguing and looking at me. Obviously, someone did an ooops with scheduling, but at this point I was boiling mad. They then ignored me and kept on with business as if I was invisible. NOT A SINGLE APOLOGY for the delay. Moral of the story: If you have time and money to throw away..,,,,this is the Hair Place to go to! read more
