Fantastic place and very clean for how busy they are. We were very well attended and felt welcomed from the start. I had the pleasure of getting my hair cut by Annalyse. She did an amazing job making my unkept mane into a sleek and respectable scalp. If my hair had been a bulky, beat up 15 passenger van that a homeless guy might live in then Annalyse turned it into a sexy Ferrari. I've had my share of awkward salon experiences where hardly a word is exchanged between the stylist and I. Annalyse on the other hand was great company as she worked. The conversation was enjoyable and her instructions were clear and calming. Did I mention the scalp massage?!? After the cut Annalyse washed and massaged my scalp and it was wonderful. Then I went back again because I was so pleased and got eyelash extensions and my hair cut, and styled. Makay was the stylist and she is wonderful, fantastic person and beauty stylist. I won't go back again. Melissa did my hair and she was sweet and all. Did her best. Went slow to make sure I was happy. But she was using the shearing scissors on me which is lazy work for a hair dresser. And she wasn't even using them correctly. And you're not supposed to use those on curly thick hair which is what I have. She ruined my hair. I didn't want it thinned. She wasn't listening to the what I was telling her in the beginning. I didn't feel confident sitting in her chair from the beginning. I have to go some where else now and see if they can fix the damage she's done. But I had long beautiful thick hair I've been growing for a couple years and was just wanting a little trim and now it'll have to be really short to fix it. I'm so upset. There were also used combs and utensils on the desk in front me with other people's hair all over them. The workstation was not clean. read more

They don't even deserve a star. My friend went to get a perm from them and when she went to wash her hair for the first time her hair dried straight. The perm was gone. When she called they said that because she didn't get a certain kind of perm it was going to wash out. Bull!! They also would not refund her money. Seriously a perm is a perm. I've been here several times, and it has been great. So I am bummed to give this review, but I want to be heard. Years ago I used to dye my hair every.single.week. I kid you not. I bleached it, went red, black, blonde, etc. I tried every color and my hair was always fine. When I got a perm once, my hair did get a little dry but within a month, it was back to it's healthy self. I've been natural for maybe two years now, and wanted a change. I decided on a perm to get and booked an appointment. I got there ten minutes early and they had me sitting around for a good forty minutes. Could have spent that time doing something a lot more productive, but whatever. The hair stylist was nice and friendly. We chatted while she was rolling my hair up. The nightmare starts when I get home. There are a few rules when you get a perm, but the biggest is no showering for 24-48 hours after a perm. This allows the chemicals to settle. After 24 hours, I noticed my scalp was getting really irritated and itchy. Around hour 30, I notice some hair falling out. Hour 36, I have a full on bald spot. Literally on the front of my head, where everyone can see. My scalp is also itching like crazy and burning. So I take a shower and when I get out, there is a bald patch the size of a quarter on my head. Y'all I freaked out. I googled it, nothing. I asked friends who are cosmetologists, nothing. The only thing they could think of is that the girl who did my hair wasn't careful and I got a chemical burn. I go in a few days later, a few stubs are growing in the patch, to complain. Like I said in the beginning, I have used a lot of treatments on my hair and everything has been fine. The stylist who did my hair looks at it and says its so weird. She has never seen anything like it. She explains that chemicals are bad for your hair, but that she has never had a reaction like this. She takes my number to call the boss to ask what to do. An hour later she calls back saying it's not their fault, but mine. She says that I have either changed my diet, started new medication, or am super stressed. So they aren't going to do anything about it. This visit has really left a bad taste in my mouth and I will not be coming back. read more

Such a great find! I went here for eyelash extensions for the first time, and I was not disappointed. Annie helped me, and she did a fantastic job with them. The salon is very relaxing, and I felt really comfortable going in for the first time. It has a great location, great staff, and I had an enjoyable time when I went. I was pleasantly surprised how much I like this place. We are recent transplants to Rexburg, and back home I just go to super cuts (because I'm cheap) but my husband suggested Hair We Are because he had gone there a few years ago and liked it. Its salon quality with out all the salon prices and intimidation. They seemed family friendly and chatted with customers who I'm sure are regulars. I told Cynthia what I wanted, she washed my hair and went to it. She was super friendly, and very thorough. Half way through she stopped and had me take a look to make sure thats what I wanted. It was great! She offered to style it, but I'm a wash and go kind of girl so I skipped it, but she did a great cut! For a quick shampoo and cut it was $20 which I thought was awesome! I am definitely going back. (and the only reason I gave 4 stars is because I haven' t been anywhere else and had nothing to compare it too). read more

Do NOT go here for anything but a men's haircut.If I could give it zero stars I would. I went in to get my hair dyed and I'm a natural blonde so I was just trying to get back to my natural color. The process was terrible. It took five hours. It cost Over $100. And it didn't even change much from when I had before. The back and the underneath part was the darker color I had earlier. And all of my hair is now breaking off a week later. The girl doing my hair was obviously knew and she had no idea what she was doing. I am not happy at all because now my hair is ruined and I have no way of putting it back on my head. read more

I took my daughter in for a trim on the cut she had. The girl said she understood the cut. When I picked up my daughter she was upset it wasn't the cut we arrived with. We went back to fix it, I like to give everyone a chance, mistakes happen, The next girl said she understood the cut and took a two inch slice right out of the back of her long hair(her hair is to her waist) That is when I stopped her and we left. The next day I called to talk to the manager and the girls said there was no manager but I could come get a refund they were nice and apologized, they knew what happened. I came in for the refund and the girls said the owner will not refund your money only half. I asked if I could speak to him and if he would please come in and see the hair cut. The girls called him over and over in about a 3 week period he never called back he just kept my money. If he was unable to pay me back I was even willing to trade and cut my sons hair you cant hurt his hair. I paid for a service and its only right that I receive the service. I have to pay someone else to fix their mistake. Its risky to go to Hair we are, there is no manager and the owner doesn't cut hair. read more

I will never return to Hair We Are. I went in to get a balayage done and was booked with Michelle. I showed her pictures and she said that she could do that. What she actually did was dye half of my hair orange. She said to come in in a couple weeks and we'll see what else we can do but I was very upset. I called the next day and asked to speak to the owner. I explained the situation and the young lady on the phone said she would have him call me. I actually got a call from Michelle saying that all she could do was fix it. So I figured everybdy deserves a second chance, I went in that day and was very clear about what I wanted. She seemed like she understood but she literally just brought the orange down about an inch and toned it so it was a tiny bit less brassy. I left and went straight over to Brodi's salon across the street and made an appointment. The girl that fixed my hair there was baffled as to what Michelle did. She said that my roots were almost black, there was a thick band of darker color (almost like she deposited twice) around my bridal and the whole bottom was orange. I have naturally dark hair, but is is not black by any means whatsoever. To sum it up, NEVER EVER go to Hair We Are. Brodi's is the place to go. read more
