Went in here for a quick haircut. Jackie was really nice and was able to identify what I need in terms of where my hair needs to be cut the most. The sides of my hair grows really quick so he made quick work of trimming the sides and leaving my bangs slightly trimmed. They don't grow back quick. The process took around 20-25 minutes and for the price, it was reasonable compared to most places. I will have to come back sometime soon! read more

I'm super picky with my hair and how it's maintained. So, you can imagine how I flipped out once I found out my former hairstylist was moving. After some research, my brother and my father decided to try Hair Zone--and they LOVED the cut they got from Jackie (they liked him better than our former hair stylist!). To be honest--their haircuts were pretty schnazzy! I was impressed. Not to mention that the price is UNBEATABLE for men haircuts. My mom went in to give it a try--and Jackie is amazing at women's cuts as well! Her co-worker even asked where she got her hair done and went to Jackie and LOVED it. I went in as well--it had been forever since I got my hair cut and Jackie did a great job and gave me some tips to better maintain my hair! I went again for the second time--and was shocked at the transformation! He is amazing! Also, he really takes his time getting the cut right and styling your hair afterwards...so you don't feel like he's rushing. I mean he's fast but really seems like he cares...even when he has walk-ins waiting. Fun Fact: Hair Zone is the home of the Men's Haircut World Champion Award Winner! So, that's the standard you are looking at. Tips: I would call ahead and make a reservation --just to make sure you are not behind a list of walk-ins (because walk-ins are acceptedand pretty common). The only cons I can think of: -They could invest in a more sophisticated set up -Even when I made a reservation, I had to wait a little due to a walk-in who was in the chair. read more

I rarely trust a new salon with my hair- too many places just haven't cut my hair in a way flattering to my round face. My sister first went here and the owner (you must ask for him! Otherwise I cannot guarantee the same experience) cut her hair in a way that it fell into a natural c-curl without a perm, even after washing. He cut my hair in a way that it also fell in the same natural c-curl- he knows exactly how to cut hair so that it naturally curls (yes, straight hair included) in the most flattering way. I've not loved my cut as much as his, and I only trust him with my straight, Korean hair. read more

So too begin with this was my first time here, i showed the lady at least 2 very similar photos of what i wanted (i wanted to shorten my bangs sense they've grown out), the lady started to cut off little little bits but one thing i noticed was she doesn't know the correct form of cutting bangs, and soon after i asked for a little bit more shorter she chopped more then a little (fyi your never supposed to chop your bangs above your eyebrow) never coming here again truly seems like they don't know how to cut or style at all. read more

So a brief background. I have really rough and coarse Asian hair for a guy and have been traveling around the DMV area to find a good place to get a haircut. Every place I went to prior to hairzone did not hit my ideal balance of quality and price... Until hairzone. I found this gem one day after being tired of all my other options and needing a haircut desperately. The results... I was thoroughly please with the service and care of my stylist, Ellen. Not only did she take care of my unruly hair but the results were perfect and she even took the time to explain to me how take care of my hair and maintain it. I've also had the chance to have my hair chemically straightened as well. The price was definitely amazing compared to places asking for ~$300 for my medium length hair and other places that charged less did not produced the desired results. Wonderful experience! Called to make an appointment with Jackie and he was available. My 12 year old daughter has a cute pixie cut, but we didn't want it too short or too masculine looking. He did a wonderful job of shaping it up and styling it too. Price was VERY reasonable for this area. We will certainly be back to see him soon! read more

Hair Zone is definitely a good place to get a haircut. They accept walk-ins, but you can save time on certain busy days like the weekend by calling in to make an appointment. Upon entering, you are immediately greeted. The staff are always respectful and have done a fantastic job giving me haircuts over the years. I have never been disappointed with how my hair is cut here. You can get the salon style treatment or a regular cut. I can tell that the barbers/hairdressers take their time and make sure every detail of one's hair is in tip-top shape. I am definitely grateful for their precision. In order to get exactly what you want, make sure you explain in detail what you are looking for. I'd give a negative amount of stars if I could! They offer "keratin" treatments for $100. DO NOT LET THEM TOUCH YOUR HAIR!! My hair felt like it had glue all over it & they flat ironed my hair wet burning w chemicals. A real disaster. I went to another stylist here because I thought my stylist was out of town (email for name). I'd seen the results of his work on her color and cut and I was impressed. Further reviews on other websites only encouraged me. Well, I almost missed the appointment and now, I wish I did (although it is not like me to just "miss" an appointment - I usually call but I was not feeling well). However, I wish I'd broken my own golden rule of trying to always follow through because I left the salon with - inches taken off not only on the overall length but the front and sides of my hair look as if a dog had used my head as a chew toy! Because he'd used a curling iron on my hair, I hadn't realized he messed it up so badly until I got home and began running my fingers through it. Of course, upon closer inspection in a mirror I was like, WTF! (Also, there was a stupid woman talking to me from the guest seating area. I didn't know her but she couldn't shut up long enough for me to monitor the covert snipping I'd missed). I specifically told him I DO not like too many layers, if any at all, and no layers above my neck. There is a definite language barrier but I thought he'd been around the block long enough to understand what NO LAYERS means. It has taken me two years to grow my hair one length and well past my shoulders (actually, there was a bozo six months ago who did similar but at least he didn't thin in out - so this whole process of growing out one's hair was not without previous incident). Why do stylists think thinning out fine hair is a good idea? Fine hair looks better with a cleaner line and some shape, but not thinned out layers of varying lengths that don't blend together skillfully! The hair beneath the layers is thinned out and ragged, too! I have highlights and you should never cut against the pattern of the highlights. I don't cut hair and even I know this...argh. This reminds me of the stupid cuts my mother would give people, including myself, because frankly, she cannot cut hair, which is why I'm biased against Asian hairdressers (as wrong as that may be). Rather than thick and flowing with slight movement, my hair looks white trash and like the female version of a mullet. Or like some tween from a Korean all girl band. I'm a woman, not a girl! Somebody please take this guy's scissors from him and replace it with a dictionary and a hair cutting manual. Now I will probably have to cut it shoulder length or into a bob to fix this epic failure. At least he didn't charge me an arm and a leg but forty dollars is still too much for this disaster. BTW...my stylist called and said she cuts her own hair...argh...but she can see me tomorrow...yay... read more

Came in here earlier today to get my haircut. I was one a tight time schedule and both employees were busy already taking care of customers but i decided to wait it out anyways. They tell me 5-10min. Another customer walks in about 5 min after i did and sat down. Another male employee walks in, greets his coworkers and gets ready to cut hair except he asks the lady customer that walked in after me to come and have a seat even though i was there first. I waited for them to say something becuase one of the other employees clearly looked at what was happening, then looked and me but she DID NOT SAY ONE WORD and went back to cutting hair. I KNOW FOR A FACT that it was because the lady customer talked to them in korean. AND I KNOW that she did not make an appointment or anything because Im korean as well and i heard everything they were saying. She was definitely just a walk in customer like i was. I guess i should have talked to them in korean too. Maybe that would of helped me get my haircut. This is total bs. Dont bother going here unless you can and want to talk to them in korean. I know the employees there will be reading this. You have a huge sign there that reads "give us a yelp review and get $1 back today" this is my review and you can keep your dollar. read more

Ive been going here for over a year now. As any haircut places, I've had really good haircuts here and really bad. Key thing to note, explain IN DETAIL as soon as you sit down and show pictures to help them. sometimes its hard to communicate exactly what you want with other people so pictures and even drawings help. I get my haircuts from jackie every 2-4 weeks and he's awesome. once i got used to habit of telling him what i want on that day and what im trying to do he definitely helps me out and even gives me tips. just make sure to be detailed, but getting hair cuts is never an exact science unless you get the same cut every time. read more

Unevenly cut, when i pointed it out to the lady did haircut, she just said"Okay Okay" and kept making my hair shorter and shorter, unevenly. She only works on Sundays, but it's worth scheduling an appointment with her. Even when I give her very vague details (once I told her to cut my hair pretty) she magically just knows how to cut my hair beautifully. Prices are very reasonable and worth every cent. This place is awesome- if you go for the first time and you want a great experience make sure you go to the guy named Jackie. He's off on Tuesdays FYI. Jackie is the real deal, yes he may not speak English well but he can definitely understand you and give you a great cut. He's quick, he's precise, oh and he does this thing at the end of your cut when he looks in the mirror and he is touching up with scissors really fast but it looks like he's not looking at your head! Jackie is really great and I have been going here for years. He uses the scissors to fine tune your hair like no other. Most male hair cuts are only with clippers for fades, but he then uses scissors all around the sides of your head like a machine. He's got a great eye for details and doesn't cut all hairs the same. read more

Been coming here with my entire family for a while now and I don't live nearby. The owner and one particular lady always seem to be very consistent and good at giving me and my two boys hair cuts. My wife also comes and she's very fussy. The last time she was unhappy was self-inflicted. She asked for shorter (than what she was given) and got it and didn't like the look afterwards. Ask for the man -- he definitely does the better job. The cuts for ladies are around $30 so it's reasonably priced.

This place hosted a rude and unfriendly gentleman working there and no sense of customer service unless you're Korean (if so, you'll get treated better). But, beyond the horrible customer service the hair cuts are not up to par for what they charge. My mother's hair came out looking OK, so kudos to the young lady who cut her hair. The gentleman, however, who cut mine was rushing and therefore didn't do what I had asked him for (aka what was in the PICTURE!). I had to give direction multiple times on what I wanted done and every time there was so much push back. What was the final product, something I was not incredibly happy with and will probably grow out to look weird. I'll probably have to go somewhere else to get it fixed later. You should come to this place ONLY if you're looking for a cheap looking hair cut for a high price. read more

I am really surprised to see the negative reviews. I am very selective about hairdressers and I'm very satisfied with my haircut. I decided to walk in and they took me right away and I got a great cut. I ended up trying it because my husband and 4 year old son got haircuts there and they were great. My son has a natural hairline that others sometimes don't catch, but they recognized it right away. I was paying nearly $60 for a haircut elsewhere so $30 for this great cut feels like I've won the lottery. I will definitely go back. read more
