Yokii cut my length from below the chest to a short bob cut. My hair is naturally black, medium thickness, and a processed blonde for over 10 years. I showed Yokii some photos, and she gave me exactly what I wanted. I have been used to $80 cuts, this one was about $150, but totally worth it. It was my first time at Hayadi, first time with Yokii and will definitely return. When I called the receptionist, she asked me questions about what I like, and plugged me in with Yokii. I didn't get the haircut I asked for. I asked for a long pixie, and showed photos of what I wanted. I understand that a "long pixie" means different length to different people and that is why I showed picrures of people with legth from mid-cheek to jaw line, but my hair ends right at my eyes level. If Mr. Zaid, by mistake cut it too short, then he sould have addressed that i stead of sending me off without acknowledging the mistake. My haircut is not horrible, but NOT WHAT I ASKED. Furthermore, Mr. Zaid blow-dried my hair puffy on top, like you would a nice old lady in the 90s and sent me off without any style. I had to stop by the front glass windows and depuff my hair so that I looked a little normal and not completely out of an outdated magazine. I left, having payed $75 plus a $20 tip out of politeness, not satisfaction. read more

Booked an in person consultation for vivid color. The stylist texted the day before and wanted to change it to be done over FaceTime, so we did. Did the consultation, agreed to an estimated price and had the actual service appt booked for a week later. At no time during the consult did she say that she was having difficulty looking at my hair and would need me to come in for a consultation after all. The morning of my appt she texted 30 minutes before my appt to push it back 2 hours. I turned around and went back home. When I showed up for the later appt, she acted very bothered and said she didn't have enough time for my service and I would need to come back & the price would be an additional $200. Enough is enough, my time is also valuable and my business is obviously not wanted here. read more

tl;dr: Haircut and blow dry too expensive and not enough detail in work, mediocre haircut Pros: Very friendly staff, accommodating, flexible, professional Cons: I got a haircut and blow dry from Zaid. The haircut itself was really quick and then two of his assistants did the blow dry but didn't ask me what style I wanted. I was the last person in the salon and it was the day before New Years Eve so I understand why it was rushed but it was not a good cut. The layers are very choppy and blunt. I have wavy hair so this looks pretty awful. I've attached pictures with hair straightened. It was only cut while wet and he didn't do any detailing once it was dry. I was in and out in less than an hour. I also said I wanted to keep the length but I think about 3 inches were cut off and this was not communicated to me. Because I have long hair the haircut was $65. For the price, I do not recommend this place for a hair cut and blow dry. It does look like they do a fantastic job with color but I wouldn't be back. When it comes to an expensive hair cut, I need somebody who will be more detailed. read more

To begin this review, I was devastated when Laith left his previous salon because I had no idea where he had gone. But after some serious stalker research... I found out where he and Zaid had gone! I found out they opened their new salon and Carmen had joined them at their new place in Annandale. I live in Arlington and I don't even care to make that drive because of the amazing work these artists do! I've been going to Laith for the last two/three years now and he is the only person I trusted to touch/color my virgin hair! He truly is an artist and makes sure he does the best color, even if he thinks it needs to be adjusted slightly, he will do it for you! I've been seeing Laith for around five years - I followed him when he left his previous salon. Not only is Hayadi Salon beautiful inside, everyone working there is incredibly talented. I consistently change what I want my hair to look like and Laith always works with me to find the best solution that will look good on me. He is the master of color (redheads: he CAN handle you). I see many people have posted photos here, but I also recommend checking out Hayadi's instagram page for examples of their work. I drive out from DC. I got my haircut by Zaid in December and went from long layers to a short chin length bob. I have thick wavy/curly hair Pros: beautiful salon, absolutely friendly staff, good hair care products Cons: the haircut was not suitable for my hair type and not what I asked for, was a little pricey for a below average haircut The hayadi salon is light-filled and in a very accessible area. Everyone in the salon is so friendly and I had a lovely conversation with Zaid while he cut my hair. Also, I ended up buying a styling cream that I'm so happy with and it was reasonably priced. My only issue (an unfortunately large one) is that the haircut itself was pretty bad. I asked for a chin length bob that I could wear with no heat tool styling with face framing pieces that didn't angle downwards much from front to back and ended up with a heavily graduated bob with really short/choppy unevenness in the back that sloped downward to blunt long pieces in the front with no face framing or layering (think the "can I talk to the manager?"/jon and Kate plus eight type haircut). It looks like two different haircuts on my head and looks even worse due to the fact that my hair is very thick and wavy so the lack of layering in the front created a wide, blunt triangle and the thinning/texturing in the back make the angle even harsher. This haircut does not suit my hair type at all, was extremely uneven (there are chunks missing in certain parts, I had to cut a randomly long piece that was missed myself) and I think a professional hairstylist should have considered my hair type in choosing the shape of the cut. I waited a while to write this review because sometimes haircuts take some time to settle into and I really wanted to leave a positive review because I enjoyed the visit but unfortunately it was just a bad cut and after reading other reviews it looks like short haircuts are not a strong suit, but maybe coloring is. read more

I found this salon on Yelp and wanted to give them a shot. I made an appt with Zaid after looking through his Instagram and reading his reviews on Yelp. I wanted a simple blunt bob and showed him a few photos of what I was looking for. Unfortunately, I was left with a bob with choppy short layers. I specifically asked him not to cut any short layers as I could tell there were some pieces that were getting shorter and shorter as he was cutting (I asked him to thin my hair) but he reassured me that he was not cutting layers and that it was the process of just thinning my hair out. I have to wait at least another few months to grow my hair out to make it even for another cut. EDIT: Zaid, I appreciate your response but I've had the blunt bob style for years and stylists at other salons were able to thin my hair without such short layers with no issues. I did ask for thinning (to clear up any confusion in my original review), as I need to since my hair is thick and I'm very aware of that. I've uploaded a photo so you can see what the blunt bob cut has looked like on me in the past. I've had the same cut for awhile now and I'm aware of how to style my hair properly (I did not curl my hair as I was going to work so in these photos my hair was just blowdried), but thanks for the offer of inviting me in to educate me. read more

This place deserves more than just 5 stars. It was my first time and from the very start everyone was friendly and welcoming. Even when I booked my appointment over the phone, the lady was very nice. I got my hair cut and colored (balayage) and my hair stylist, Carmen (who BTW is fabulous ), knew exactly what she was doing. Got a haircut this morning with Zaid. Went from long-haired to a short bob. I was open to the stylist's recommendations, as I am no expert in this area. He was superb! I told him what I was thinking about doing and asked for his expert opinion. I was lucky to get an appointment on the same day, and I had an awesome haircut with Zaid. I have a lot of very thick, straight hair and I've had difficulty finding someone who understands my hair type and is able to give me a cut that continues to look good as it grows out. My cousin recommended this place to my aunt when we were visiting family in Virginia. I was a little skeptical about my aunt trusting a hair salon out of state to get a haircut and partial highlights but boy was I wrong! After going to a different salons in the area, i finally found my salon amd stylist. I saw Laith and he was amazing. I didnt like my color and i was transitioning from blonde to brunnete and needed someone who would give me a beautiful brunnete color. Since its hard to go back to blonde after coloring it to the dark i was looking for an experienced hair stylist. I love my new hair!!! Laith told me the color will be a little bit darker but after a few washes it will get two shades lighter. Came in for highlights / color correction. They did a great job, however the service was extremely pricey. $400+!!! This is over twice the amount I've paid for such a service in the past. If the price isn't an issue it's worth coming here but I think there's plenty of great artists out there that charge less. read more

Carmen did a fabulous job on my color. I came to her after I went to a different salon trying to get platinum white blonde. It was still too yellow and I don't think my other stylist knew the look I was going for. I wanted something modern, fresh, and NOT yellow. Carmen got my vision 100% and I felt confident that she understood the type of fresh, contemporary look I was going for. She was also very friendly and kind and made me feel at ease. She never talked down to me or made me feel stupid like a lot of salons do. The salon itself had a really great vibe--so much natural light and very bright and modern.
