My first time was with Michele, and I loved hearing her story and passion about creating a talented and calm space for her art. She is compassionate and great at serving her clients! Loved my hair after! It's really a wonderful, clean, and serene spot. The last two times I was with Ali, and I loved my hair each time! As a busy stay at home mom, I usually only get my hair done once in a while so having it look good for the long term is a must. The first time around I specifically came in bc I was getting some family photos done for the holidays. I had some long layers and balayage (I'll attach some of the family photos done by Alyssa Vanzo Photography so people can see!) Most recently I came in to get my hair darkened and shorter. I did, however, have another stylist do my 10-year-old daughter's hair and I thought it was a $50 cut wash and blow dry but was charged an extra $25 for 15 minutes over the hour mark "because her thick hair". My problem is that she did not even start my daughter's hair at our appointment time. So those extra 15 minutes shouldn't have been charged to me. It would've been nice if she mentioned the extra charge as well instead of just smiling and saying her hair is so thick as she continued to thin it. She did a great job on my daughter's hair but shouldn't start late to do someone's hair and then charge them extra time for going over the hour without asking if I want you to take the "extra time". It was just a bit frustrating.

The website answers any and all questions about your cut, color, or wax in advance, with a demystifying FAQ page and a full before and after care list. My service was ~30 minutes long and I felt totally comfortable for the duration. Nitty Gritty goes out of their way to ensure their salon is an LGBTQ+ safe space - there's specific information on waxing if you're transitioning, an ask for pronouns at the time of registration, and a truly welcoming atmosphere for all. This alone will keep me coming back and supporting, but the fact that the service is so top notch is a nice added bonus. The reviews don't lie, Nitty Gritty is the best. Stefania (Metro owner) was the only stylist I could find that was able to help. That was many years ago. The new place on University is beautifully appointed and the service is always wonderful. Stefania and her crew bend over backwards to please. After the winter lockdown of 2020 my roots grew in so much I decided to 'just embrace the gray'. My hair is not a pretty shade of gray however. Stefania now adds just the right amount of color to make it attractive. I'm very happy with it. Before Metro I had been all over town looking for someone who could 'do it right'. I met with her and she began cutting and continued to stop and ask me questions about the length and how I felt about her continuing or asking if I wanted to try it out for a couple of days and then come back if I wanted it shorter. The dermaplaning felt rushed, and afterward my skin was noticeably irritated, which is unusual for me as someone who has had dermaplaning done regularly. The overall experience also wasn't particularly relaxing. There were several instances where products or jars were placed down loudly enough to startle me while I was trying to relax. For a service marketed as a relaxing, luxurious experience, those details really matter. To be fair, the esthetician was very friendly and kind, so my concerns are not about her personality. What has been even more disappointing is the lack of customer service afterward. I emailed Luxe Spa on 9/8 explaining my concerns and asking someone to reach out to discuss the experience and how it could be made right. After receiving no response, I followed up, and I still have not heard anything. I intentionally reached out privately first because I wanted to give the business an opportunity to address my concerns before leaving a public review. Unfortunately, being ignored after spending nearly $200 on a service feels extremely unprofessional. I expected much more from Luxe Spa and will not be returning.
