WARNING! STAY AWAY FROM THE OLD LADY THAT RUNS THIS PLACE!! I went in for a trim. My hair was passed my shoulders. We discussed taking maybe a inch off. We even measured the take off length by our fingers. We both agreed. She grabbed a handful of hair on the right side of my face & chopped it off ABOVE my earlobe! I stopped her right then but the damage was already done. I asked her why she did that & she said that wasn't too much & it would look beautiful when she finished. I said no! Just go ahead & make the back even. I told her to not touch the top that I would have to find someone that could try to blend or feather the rest of my hair. I was totally shocked by what she did. She said I didn't have to pay & she was glad that I was nice to her. I did get someone to help me & she did the best she could. I now need a wig. I wish I could report her. read more

Please don't even try to go to Hairline Beauty Salon near food lion in shore drive. Sorry Ms. Cora. But she does what she wants, not what the customer wants. I simply wanted an ash blonde highlight and she sent me home with this yellow hair. She told me to come back after a week to fix it for free. My hair was a virgin hair after I shaved it all off 2yrs ago. It was just yesterday and it look like it already outgrew and she said she doesn't want to fix the roots. She made me pay $140.00. When I went back for her to fix it, she made me pay again. She played with my hair but nothing I can do since all the old Filipinas ganged me up. I could have called the police or my lawyer but I did not. In my mind I just forgave her and lift her up to God/Allah. Just a bad recommendation to people planning to go here. I actually liked what was done to my hair. I was not so thrilled about what was done to my head though. While straight ironing my hair and styling it, she burned me with the iron. I did the "suck in breath, ow that hurts, jump/gasp" combo and she apologized and continued on for another 10 minutes or so and I paid, tipped, and left. After I left, I went to the store feeling like a million bucks with awesome new styled hair. When I got home, my husband asked me why I had so much dried blood on the top of my head. So yeah, kinda takes the sexy wind out of my sails. I know she knows she burned me. Way to let me walk around looking stupid to cover your own butt. And I am short too, so everyone else sees the top of my head but me. I also get a bit irritated when having your hair styled (blow dried and ironed) costs more than the cut... that's like buying a new puppy for the very first time and the store not showing you how to take care of it. You can TECHNICALLY find it on google, but should you have to? No points deducted for that though, just for the burning me enough to draw blood. Also: terrible shampoo, she just kind of limply flops her hands around your head, none of that nice massage action that helps remove blocked follicle issues and stuff. I have moved and started with Wendi and still drive back 4 hours to have Wendi at Hairline do my hair. I won' let anyone else even trim my hair!!! Nikki is 5-stars and an excellent hair stylist and did a wonderful job. ***Two stars are for the business and the business only.*** They accept cash or check only. In 2019, it is unfathomable that a business does not accept credit/debit cards. The technology is out there where even I personally can accept crypto currency as a form of a payment, much less Apple Pay, Venmo, Zelle, or even via Square. This policy also caught me by surprise as the cash or check only sign is NOT prominently posted. It is off to the side and had to be pointed out after the services were already complete. Long story short... this business needs to advance into this century where no one carries cash, much less a checkbook anymore. ***Update after the Owner - Wendi responded*** The math that is mentioned by the owner is patently false. There should be an option for acceptance of all forms of payment PERIOD. Downgraded to 1-star based on the new owner not being based in the realities of business in 2019. A search on the internet easily reveals that Square charges 2.75% per transaction with no monthly associated subscription costs. Even if this transaction fee is completely passed on to the consumer it is convenient and means I will never have to make a trip to the ATM to pull out money in order to get a haircut which I am willing to absolutely pay for. This also means that the $18 haircut becomes $18.50... not $25. The $35 treatment becomes $35.96.... not $45. I think my fixed income can afford me the convenience of a couple extra dollars if I CHOOSE to partake in the transaction. As for the rationale of not accepting cards for the protection of the consumer having their banking information compromised, is another falsehood. I make tons of transactions with my cards everyday and have never had anything adverse happen. But, even if it did I am guaranteed to get my money back regardless by my card provider. That is what fraud protection does as a full time job at ANY card provider. Lastly, if there is proper signage now on the storefront stating that only cash and check are accepted it is BECAUSE of my review on here and not just something that I missed as I was walking in or out of the establishment. I had an amazing experience at hairline, as it was recommended by SEVERAL friends. I just wish I knew about it sooner! I had my long hair dyed a bold color. Joyceline did an excellent job making sure that I was comfortable with the process along the way. I loved learning all the tips and tricks for hair care as well! The atmosphere was so friendly and you can't beat the prices. You can tell that this salon has been a part of the community for a long time! People were in and out, having conversations, visiting, celebrating, etc! I witnessed teens going in there that have been there since they were little. The reviews were good and a friend of mine recommended me to come here and have Sonny do my hair. I had an appointment at 230, and got called at 245. The main thing I wanted was to fix my white/gray hair.. then I ask for haircut,color, highlights. I was there for 6 1/2 hours. I was confused of why I was there for so long and I asked Sonny what's going on, and he tells me that he had to tone it down because I had used a box color. He kept on patting on my hair and spraying water then I was smelling the ammonia that I felt like suffocating, and he put a towel on my face to cut down on breathing it in. Lucky Joy was there to use the blow dryer to lessen the smell. This was at 6pm and the place is close and yet I'm still at the sink and I was very uncomfortable, my neck hurts!!! I was getting aggravated!!! Finally after 6 1/2 hours my is done, and I am not happy because the white hair is still there and my hair looks orange!!! It was already late that I did not even have the energy to get upset. I just wanted to leave. The worst experience I've ever had. I will never come here again!!! read more

I wish that I didn't have to give it one star.. Let me say that I can't speak for all the people that work at this salon. I've only been there once and will NOT be going back. This salon came very well recommend so I figured that I would take my kids there for their back to school haircuts. They were decently priced for a children's haircut and after all, my son hair couldn't be that hard to cut and all I wanted was my daughter's hair evened out and as little of the length taken off as could be. My son spend about 15-20 minutes in the chair and afterwards you can't even tell that he got a haircut. All his stylist did was trim up around the ears and even though I told him I wanted to front kept long, he trimmed up the ears and then proceeded to tell me as he was cutting it that because the hair had not grown in that he was going to cut it short. Then came my daughter, I told him that all wanted was the end trimmed. Well he then again before asking me cut "layers" into her hair. If you could call it layers! He basically picked a spot and cut a line. Then after I came a comment about how short it was he said "jokingly@ that I needed to turn around. After he was finished he began to blow dry it but I'm assuming that once he saw how jacked up her hair was he decided against and said that I would look better if it air dried... There is nothing I can do to fix it besides cutting it short right before her kindergarten pictures!! It looks terrible up, it looks terrible down, there really is no way to fix it. I hardly ever review anything but I really have to give Joy so much props for doing an amazing job with my highlights and cut. I've lived in Hollywood and London, gone to super high end salons and overpaid for what ends up being mediocre work and value in comparison to what Joy can deliver! She understands Asian hair and especially how to properly highlight it and hide gray roots (ash, ash and more ash blonde...not everyone gets it, even in the big cities); she keeps up to date with new trends and products (I knew I was in the right hands once we had a convo about Guy Tang & Olapex) and she just does awesome work that can't be beat. Plus, she was able to refresh my highlights all over, mask my gray and give me cut in half the time it would have been elsewhere. Definitely coming back when I visit family again in this area. read more
