We stopped here on a Friday in July hoping to get braids for my daughter. We were greeted kindly and told we could wait while she got them braided. It cost $20 for two French braids. The operator did a nice job though she did put quite a bit of cream on my daughter's hair leaving some chunks behind on her hairline. All in all it was a decent price for a pretty cute hairdo. The braids fell out a few days later but we will probably be back when we need it up for soccer season or travel or other reasons.

Came here to get my hair braided for gymnastics. Solonge was so nice she took me right away as a walk-in. Day two and the braid till looks amazing! This place is for all hair types and is very affordable. I will be back next week to have my hair braided again. It holds so well for my work outs! Love it. Thank you

i came in as a walk-in asking for medium knotless braids with triangle parts ( i wasn't too pressed on the parts though, was just hoping for them ) i arrived , picked my hair and solange started immediately i have extremely thick hair so there were 2 ladies working on me & i was finished in less than 4 hours extremely impressed & i have no complaints

Ladies Do Go Elsewhere. Wish I had read all the one-star reviews here first. I have been here once before - just to get braids removed because when I see women leaving this shop their hair looks atrocious. Like, breathtakingly so. Like. Damn you PAID for that? But don't take my word for it - read the other reviews. These women are talentless. But I digress. First they are also unprofessional. Wear shoes and deodorant. You're servicing Americans. These should be standard. Don't claim you don't speak English then repeat clients' questions verbatim in French to each other. Then pretend you didn't understand it the first time. Not every American is ignorant. Don't quote one price then insist on another. The price should NOT change each time a client comes to your shop based who's working that day. That's not how you do business. Inform customers of the rules first. Be consistent. Second, I'm a customer getting my hair done in your HAIR SALON - not on your couch at home. Letting a client leave with filthy hair is unconscionable. It should NOT cost extra to shampoo your clients' hair - and even if it does tell them BEFORE you finish removing braids or build the cost of a shampoo into the price. Washing hair in a hair salon is NORMAL. Not doing so is abnormal. I'm sure the licensing board would find that curious. You're in the mall for Pete's sake - not in your living room doing hair. Third, sometimes Haka can't take credit cards, sometimes they insist on cash (your machine can't always be broken - we know it costs more for you to process credit card payments and you don't want the added costs - people aren't stupid). But you might be - taking payment without providing a receipt?? I'm sure thats an IRS tax audit waiting to happen ... Lastly, this is a hair braiding salon and you don't provide hair? Do you know how many of your competitors in actual professional hair salons do? MOST of them do by buying hair In bulk and build it into the price of the service. When I get an oil change they don't ask me to bring the oil. When I get a hair cut for my child they don't ask me to bring the clippers. Really?? Going here is a waste of money - and time. Try Musa Braids or Rallys in Md or any of the dozens and dozens of places. You've been warned.

This was my 1st experience, and I must say it was very pleasant! I had an appointment, I walked in, I was greeted & they began washing my hair. I got a two-braided style, which was done quickly & I was done. No stress, no worries. I'll go back again for my next style!

I'll start by saying I NEVER write bad reviews.. I think this will be my second one ever, but I…read morefeel it needs to be said. I have waited a week to write this hoping it was just my hair in "shock" or maybe the way I was parting it but no, I have a horrible hair cut. Here is my experience. I went in on a Monday afternoon just to see if on the off chance they were taking walk in's...they weren't. The man at the reception counter was a little snooty and put out when he told me he was alone and had an appointment coming in but booked an appointment for me the following day with another stylist. I returned 15 minutes before my appointment time filled out the card and was taken right away. The stylist was super nice and I will not call her out here because of that. However, I went in looking to have my bangs fixed as they looked like a 2 year old cut them, they were long and falling into my eyes, heavy and a little crooked. I also wanted some face framing fringe and maybe some long layers. She listened and asked all the right questions. She checked in with me a few times but it was too late the damage was already done as she cut my bangs first. They were SHORT way shorter than we had discussed, but they were wet. Then came the blow dry. She knew they were too short as she dried them straight and flat to my forehead. I asked for them to lay right at my eyebrows but no amount of flattening would get them there. They looked awful, but there is no fixing too short bangs. I should have said something but..well I was already starting to get upset and didn't want to cry. I did ask if she could fluff them up a bit and she admitted she purposely dried them flat. I felt the other stylists looking and judging, but that was most likely my own paranoia. I did give her a good tip because she was so nice and I just wanted out of there. Over this past week I have discovered that not only are my bangs a full 1/2 inch shorter than we discussed, but they are crooked and lopsided as well. The face framing fringe is non existent as it is just 2 "layers" one 3 inches shorter than the other. There is nothing anyone can do to fix this. I could have done better cutting my own hair with a Brad Mondo YouTube video. Now I am wearing hats or wearing clips to clip my bangs up and wearing ponytails. Think 1980's front bump-it style only flat and with WAY more hairspray. I know it is only hair and it will grow but I am a woman of a certain age and 1. should not have "baby bangs" and 2.my hair has never grown fast and now it grows even slower. The shop was cute and clean. I can't say the people were nice as I only interacted with my stylist long enough to form an opinion. And she was SUPER nice...just possibly not on her best game. I hate leaving bad reviews but I can't look in the mirror at this monstrosity that is my hair without wanting to cry. This is the only time I have left a salon looking worse than I did going in.

I said in the back he has a really strong cowlick and I really didn't want that area cut shorter as it would just stuck up awkwardly. I was extremely clear that I didn't want short hair. She did the exact opposite of what I wanted. I thought it at least was cut well but after getting home/it dried it really doesn't look great. And it's just so short. She just kept shortening it again and again. She admitted that it wasn't anything like what I asked for. I wanted to stay positive for my kid but I can't believe I tipped. Please don't go to her unless you want the one style she apparently can do. I did call Sharkey's and received a call from the owner Pauline. After I told her what happened, she initially seemed apologetic and offered a refund. I sent her pictures as requested. But then she kept trying to get me to agree to change my review immediately in a really pushy way. I asked if the refund was contingent on the review and she initially denied it, but then later texted to say it was. So sketchy. I paid $39.71. I did not receive a refund.
