We have used Hala Tree service many times in the past. They have been prompt and given us a great price. I called recently about an estimate, and no one called me back -- okay. I heard back from them about three days later and it took a week to get an estimate -- okay. I'm still in the game here. I was told they would call me back with an estimate. I called them -- okay. Got my estimate and arranged for them to trim the tree. They were supposed to come on a Saturday morning at 8:00 am. I moved all the plants can cancelled my regular gardener to give them good access. I waited until around 1:00 pm to hear from them or have them show up. They never showed for the appointment. They never called. I consider this unacceptable. I sent them a text and never heard anything back. So, if the Hala owner reads this review, maybe they can give me an explanation. I have now waited several weeks for no service. Will not hire again. read more

Don't trust Rodney for doing any Tree Cutting or anything! He promised to build a patio for me 2 years ago took the money and to this day didn't complete the job. I had to hire someone else to complete. DON'T PAY HIM UNTIL THE JOBS DONE. Even after getting the Patio done by a someone else I called Rodney many times to give him the chance to work off the $1,600. He actually continued to tell me he would cut my trees in lieu of paying me the money that he never seems to have. He continued with his empty promises of coming over but would reschedule or just not show up. His crew are day workers so he needs money daily. He robs Peter to Pay Paul. And this was after 15+ years of doing business with him! Also, don't think he knows how to do landscaping I got screwed on that one too! Good thing I got the tree cut before I got F..... again! I suggest you Call Discount Tree Service! They are in Long Beach but this Company cuts Trees and Landscapes all over! His quote was slightly higher than the other company, but when I asked what his availability was he was able to come the next day. This crew is great. Mr Hala came out and gave me a clear estimate right away and then removed a 35-40 foot elm tree 2 days later in only 3 hours. They were considerate and fast and went above and beyond with meticulous clean up, thoroughly grinding all visible roots and even delicately saving 2 baby squirrels and their nest. After getting many outrageous quotes to remove my giant Christmas tree, I finally did some research and discovered Hala's Tree Service. Their first quote was still a bit high, but I was able to negotiate with them to a price I could afford. They were able to start the next day and did an amazing job considering the amount of work there was. They removed the Christmas tree and also trimmed my sycamore and palm tree which had not been trimmed in many years. The clean-up work they did was nearly spotless and the results were so impressive I actually tipped them above the agreed price because I felt no-one could have done a better job than they did. read more

Using Hala is supporting local, family run business which I highly recommend. We've used them for years and love them. One suggestion is make sure you ask them to dig out roots if you desire it when you've hired them for land clearing. Their default seems to be to just hack off at the roots which is great for erosion prevention, but not so good if you are looking for permanent removal of plants. I don't have one complaint; they are kind, courteous, efficient, and clean. Totally recommend. read more

You cannot beat Hala Tree service. Hala, first off, came for the estimate the same day (maybe I got lucky). The estimate was more than reasonable. We scheduled for the following morning. A team of 3 with proper ladders, tools, and a truck came early, were professional, and did a wonderful job. The site was left clean after. Hala came out gave me a fair price. Arrived 30 minutes prior to set up and started on time and completed the job fast and efficient. They cleaned up outstanding and even swept the street in front of my house. Also gave me some extra wood for my personal use. They grinded the stump down and leveled the ground nicely. With almost 30 years selling real estate in the Downey/Norwalk/Long Beach area I have known and utilized Hala's service for about 25 years for both personal and business jobs. Two days ago they removed 4 large cypress trees (they had to be 40 feet tall) from a client's property. They said they would arrive between 7-8 am; my client took her dog out at 6:15 am and they were sitting in their trucks at the corner. Do not use this service. They will try to skimp their way out of the job the second they get their cash. They were supposed to pickup about 200 lbs worth of wood after I decided to pay them because they promised that they would clean it all up the next day and that he had to pay their workers. They ended up not showing up and they ignored all my calls and requests to come and clean up the mess they promised to clean. There are many other services out there that do a better job and actually care about customer service. Do yourself a favor and ignore these guys read more
