Beef kebab
Ruben N.

Bad experience. So sad. I had halal food for years. Halal boys. Halal munchies. Halal guys. Shahs. Everywhere. All over the city This is the only place where food was horrible. First time in my life I had a hard, crunchy bad pita... Beef was tasteless and too hard - I only got because they ran out of lamb .... But my friend ordered it that day.... The wait - 28 minutes Good made me sick and it gave someone else the Runs. Bad food that day. Too expensive for no reason.

Spicy Jerk Chicken Rice Platter, Mix Chicken, Lamb Rice Platter 8 Pieces of fried chicken drumsticks

Halal Doner Kabab is a great addition to Northern Blvd. Their restaurant is clean and newly renovated. I was able to call the restaurant to order for pickup. When I arrived, there was only one person working the kitchen and register, who I would assume was also the owner. We ordered a couple of things to sample the menu such as their spicy jerk chicken platter, mixed platter, and fried chicken drumsticks. I was amazed by how packed each platter was with protein, sides and rice. The mixed platter was a flavor bomb and possibly one of the most delicious halal platters I've ever had. The red, white and green sauces were drenched throughout the platter and the protein was seasoned well. There were also french fries and some lettuce and chickpeas in their side salad that balanced the meal. The spicy jerk chicken was not authentically Jamaican but tasty nonetheless. The chicken was juicy and the sauce was great with the rice and side salad. Lastly, the fried chicken was also pretty amazing. It was seasoned well and extremely crispy and juicy. Overall, I enjoyed everything I ordered at Halal Doner Kebab and would definitely come back to try their other platters. Their prices are reasonable so you get great value for your meal.

Mix (chicken/lamb) over rice, macaroni salad, extra containers of red/white/green sauce, carrot cake 3 PC fried chicken meal

Just recently noticed this new spot on Northern with their grand opening flags outside. Got the mix over rice (chicken and lamb), 3 PC fried chicken meal which comes with a biscuit and a side (I got macaroni salad) and a carrot cake. The fried chicken was SO SO GOOD. The chicken is well marinated so that the seasoning is deep into the chicken meat not just on the batter. If you like Popeyes fried chicken definitely give their fried chicken a try. I came home and intended to take just one bite of the chicken then put the groceries away..I ended up polishing off all 3 pcs standing at my counter on the spot. I'm so glad I found a new fried chicken spot! The mix over rice is very good. Well seasoned. Comes with a bit of salad and topped with a few pieces of crunchy fries. The rice is on the al dente side which I like. Some places the rice is on mushier side. They are generous with the red/white/green sauce. There are a few tables and it has an open glass kitchen. Looks clean and you see your food being made. The owners are very accommodating to whatever you want. If you like spicy make sure to let them know... Their fried chicken is not spicy however I believe they put some spices in it to make a spicy just for me. Also they gave me extra extra hot sauce; red and green. Fried chicken with hot sauce is LIFE!! now the con..I will pass on the macaroni salad and the carrot cake and try something new next time. P.s the biscuit that came with the fried chicken was excellent as well

Top fried chicken, left jerk chicken, right mixed chicken and lamb platter

Price, freshness, creativity and taste this place fires on all cylinders and deserves more love than it currently deserves as an under the radar unassuming spot. I ordered the fried chicken, the jerk chicken platter and the mixed chicken and lamb platter. Jerk chicken was passable, but you can definitely skip this item as your typical jamaican spot does a much better job than this place. The fried chicken is identical to the fried chicken you would get at a Kennedy fried chicken. The star attraction here is the mixed platter. With an assortment of fresh vegetables, actual chickpeas and delicious proteins, this place gives you a refreshing yet hardy combo of what a mixed platter should be. I've never had a mixed halal platter with as many fresh ingredients as this and am extremely glad this place offers such a top notch item

I was nervous to try this place only because they are fairly new. Wow! They surprised me! It was really good! We ordered cheeseburger combo, chicken and lamb combo, mozzarella sticks and sweet corn nuggets. Everything was really tasty and the food was fresh! Highly recommend!!

Avocado lover shake

Halal Afghan restaurant serving kababs and smoothies. The owners are very sweet. The avocado lover's shake was delicious and not too sweet. We had a chicken kebab and beef kebab plate which comes with rice, pieces of flatbread, and a delicious fresh salad. We enjoyed the chicken kababs more than the beef one. One platter is a very hearty meal with leftovers.

I was picking up desserts at a nearby café when I noticed this unassuming new halal restaurant recently opened and decided to try them out. Doner Kabab serves burgers, shawarma, smoothies, desserts and fried chicken (they are also a Kennedy Fried Chicken Express restaurant). I ended up getting the Lamb over Rice and Salad Meal ($9.99). This dish had cubes of lamb, rice, salad, French fries and a few pieces of pita bread. I was asked what kind of sauce I wanted on top of the platter, and I said "everything" so they put the white, red and green sauce. This was such a bargain at ten bucks (before tax and tip). Portions were huge and could be shared with another person. The green sauce had a slight kick but not overpowering. And I really appreciated the addition of the fries which were freshly made, along with the salad and pita bread. Their menu also has Kids Meal options. And they sell Shahi Kulfi ice cream in many different flavors. I only had a short amount of time during this visit but they are definitely worth checking out again.

A new addition to the neighborhood and I came here because my family swears by the food. It does not disappoint! The spices and flavors are unmatched. I don't have much experience with Afghan food but man the flavor just undeniable. Got a mixed chicken and lamb plate with white sauce and hot sauce. Out of this world. Meat was so tender. Will definitely be back to try more of their extensive menu! Owners also explained to me the differences between Turkish doners and Afghan doners. Made me appreciate the flavors even more!

Chicken over rice- kitty for scale.

Huge portions of chicken and lamb over rice. This small family-owned restaurant blows every halal place I've tried out of the water, and believe me I've tried many. Onc you've tried this place, you'll never be able to go back to Halal Munchies.

Mixed combo halal Mix Chicken, Lamb Rice Platter

Come here for all halal, kebab!! So good and large portions, cheap!!!! Please please, I usually finish those cart halal by myself but here, I couldn't even finish half. And the whole family was so niceee I felt really comfortable asking them difference of all meat flavor and they nicely explained to me. I feel so bad I don't live in this area any more but definitely stop by here whenever I get a chance to stop flushing!!!

Incredible Uyghur food not just for Flushing standards but for the entire city as a whole…read more Everything here is halal so that's a nice plus. Went with a group on a Thursday evening, and the place is fairly small with about 10 or so tables. There was only one server but since there was only one other occupied table, this wasn't an issue. Service was prompt and friendly and our server was willing to explain things to some in our group who weren't very familiar with Uyghur cuisine. The space also had nice vibes, clean with understated and tasteful decor on the walls. We had to get the special laghman because this spot is known for that, and you get the option of either lamb or beef. We ordered both varieties and they were both delicious. The meat was tender and they're loaded with fresh vegetables, with the mushrooms being a highlight. The sauce in particular was incredibly rich and savory and I was tempted to get an additional order of noodles on the side just to enjoy the sauce some more. It was that good. Others in our group ordered the stir fried noodles which I got to try; it wasn't saucy like the laghman but it was equally delicious. We also ordered the lamb dumplings, which was probably the weakest dish of the night. They weren't bad, and for $15 you get a large plate of them, meant to be shared or enjoyed as an entree. It's just that for the area you can get better dumplings for a cheaper price. I probably wouldn't order these again when I return, but the chili oil and black vinegar elevated them a bit. But the real highlight of the night had to be the lamb kebabs, spelled kawap here, served on skewers. They are $5 a pop, so they're not exactly cheap but they are worth every penny. Grilled and seasoned to perfection with tender meat, I genuinely think these are the best lamb kebabs I've had in the city, and I've had a lot from dining at many Middle Eastern restaurants. These blow them all away. If you visit, make sure to get one or two skewers for yourself along with your entree. Finally we had some milk tea, served in a bowl and not a cup like you might expect. It was rich, decadent, a little salty, and a great way to end a great meal. All in all, loved my experience here and I'm eager to go back.

After receiving the order, I asked why the green sauce--commonly included as a side with this type of meal--was missing. The employee at the counter told me they had run out. However, I noticed that there was a bottle of the same green sauce on every table in the restaurant, which made the explanation confusing and frustrating. Another concern was that the restaurant refused to accept credit or debit card payments. In 2026, declining standard electronic payment methods creates unnecessary inconvenience for customers. Unfortunately, the food quality also did not meet expectations. The lamb chops were very small and appeared dry and overcooked. Overall, the portion sizes and quality did not justify the price. Based on this experience, I would recommend that customers consider other nearby options.
