    Cold noodle and kebab
    Alex F.

Located in Flushing New Mall's cafeteria. The restaurant is one of the first ones you will notice. I've been here a couple times and the kebabs and the samsa's are a must have. The cold noodles are delicious and fresh. One time we ordered the bean jelly salad and that dish was probably more of an acquired taste. Cash is probably fastest for all the restaurants down here, but this restaurant does accept card. Definitely come here for one of the unique cultural experiences you can have in NYC.

I've only had uyghur food once on the west coast. I didn't notice this stall the last time I was in the mall so it seemed like a good opportunity to check it out. We got the cold noodle with kebab since it was hot outside and wanted something a little lighter. The portions are quite massive. There is definitely some heat to this dish that creeps up on you. I thought the noodles were cooked really well and had a nice chewy, bouncy texture. The kebob was okay, meat was a bit tough so nothing really stood out. Will definitely be back to try out some of their other dishes!

I got the stir fried chicken rice noodles and samsa, and they were both delicious! The noodles were perfectly tender and covered in a flavorful sauce with some decent spice. The noodles also came with plenty of chicken, which was juicy and tasty. The samsa consisted of a flaky pastry shell that contained a well-seasoned meat filling. It was like a baked samosa.

Solid Uyghur spot! To be fair, we only got the Lamb Shish Kebab, but other patrons seemed to enjoy the dishes they got. The large pieces of lamb were quite tender and nicely BBQ-ed, with a tasty cumin seasoning and sesame seeds on top. No complaints!

One of the few halal spots in Flushing. I love when food spots have pictures of what the food looks like, as I am a visualizer. Uzbek plov - one of my lesser favorite Uzbek plovs I have had...it lacked some flavor and the rice grain used was a bit thicker than what I have had in the past. Staff was nice and helped me with a to-go lid for our leftovers. Looks like a family owns and runs it!

My friends and I ordered a dish to split (Uyghur Pilvar). It was my first time trying Uyghur food and it looked super delicious. There is a huge lamb shank with this yellow rice/rasin mix. I thought the lamb shank was tender but lacked flavor. The rice was really good so I enjoyed that. It was great we got all this food for a decent price.

    Lagman

Pretty tasty Lagman (stir fried hand pulled noodles). The noodles were thick and chewy, and fried on high heat with lots of aromatics like cumin and chili. I am not usually a huge fan of celery and carrots in stir fries, though the subtle crunch of vegetables balanced out the chewiness of the noodles here. The lamb was a little dry but I think it is meant to be that way. Tarim is the only Uyghur stall in the bustling New World Mall food court, and they bring unique flavor profiles to a center packed to the excess with beef noodle soup, Malatang, dumplings, boba. Come try it out! Look around for what you want for dessert while the food is being made (~15 minutes).

Wonderful lamb flavor! It was also very hot. I got two and put the second samsa in my pocket as a hand warmer.

The food was interesting and overall okay. I've heard of this region of China through work, and it was such a treat to actually get to experience the food from this region. The samsa was so so. It wasn't the greatest thing I've had nor the worst. The meat inside was okay, nothing too wowing or providing a flavor kick. It was mellow tasting as if the meat was boiled. The Uyghur pilof was tasty. The lamb leg was huge, and the meat literally falls off the bone. It had enough flavor that I enjoyed it despite its appearance looking lack luster. The pilof was tasty with the raison-like pieces of dried fruit. Again, it had enough flavor even though the colors would perhaps indicate something that would wow your mouth in flavors/spices. Tarim Uyghur Food is located in the food court of New World Mall.

The portions are pretty solid and I really liked the breads the most. It's in the basement of the mall in the big food court.

Been here a few times, and so glad that this place continues to offer Uyghur food in the heart of Flushing. Mostly have come here so far for their beef/lamb pockets in the setting of a Food Crawl and it's always an interesting fun moment for everyone. While the most recent time we went the meat was not the most tender, it's kind of like an empanada with middle eastern and Chinese flavors combined into one. It wasn't spicy at all, and the onions added a nice touch. The workers are nice and it's def worth a stop because who knows where else you'll be able to find food like this? Definitely want to come back to try the rest of their items. NYC beats other big cities in that we offer a ton of diversity, represented in our food culture and the fact that we have Uyghur food is a blessing, so take advantage of it.

    Special lagman

Decided to pre-game lunch with my two sisters at this restaurant after we saw all the options throughout the new world food court. I had never had Uyghur food before and was excited to try. I believe if you order from the front, it's cash only. We got one order of the special lagman ($15.50). The dish consists of hand-pulled noodles, woodear mushrooms, bell peppers, beef, and a mala sauce. I think most people had ordered online as they arrived and got their food to go. We ended up waiting over 30 minutes for our one dish to be ready because it seemed like they may have been understaffed? Not sure but would've been nice to be given a time estimate so we could walk around or something instead of sitting at the food court table right in front. It seemed like the employees were friendly though and working as quick as they could. The noodles were delicious, the mala sauce coated them very well. We liked how since the noodles are hand pulled fresh, there was varying textures because they were of different sizes but still each cooked perfectly. The vegetables gave it a nice freshness but there actually wasn't that much meat. I still really enjoyed the sauce though because I drank some of the remaining liquid up when the noodles and toppings were gone. Would definitely try other things on the menu next time and maybe order online!

    lamb dumplings

I ordered the lamb dumplings and they were so freaking good. I didn't expect them to be soupy based on the picture I ordered off from but the soup was good. I ate every last dumpling, the portion was perfect for one person. It is very hot so be careful. I did not try the vinegar/sauce at all. One con was that there was a long wait for our food, and it didn't seem too busy. But at least that means the food was freshly made right? Staff was nice and waved me down (when I was sitting at a table) when my food was ready.

I wasn't very familiar with Afghan cuisine or what to expect from a halal döner kebab restaurant, but my experience was excellent. One thing I really appreciated was the open kitchen concept. As soon as you walk in, the kitchen is right there on the side, allowing you to watch the food being prepared. Everything feels transparent and fresh. I ordered the chicken gyro, which was packed with flavor and incredibly juicy. I also tried the lamb tikka and beef kofta. Watching the cooks prepare the meat on the large skewers over the grill made the experience even better. The meal came with rice and a side salad, making for a satisfying and well-balanced plate. The food was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. I'll definitely be coming back to explore more of the menu.

You get two tender thighs and a drumstick, all seasoned and spiced perfectly. The long grain rice is delicious, and the portions are genuinely massive for the price. The side salad and vegetables balance everything out nicely so the meal doesn't feel heavy. They include three sauces on the side, but honestly the chicken is flavorful enough on its own that I haven't really needed them. When I went in person to pick up my order, the place was really clean and well-kept, which I always appreciate. I also noticed they have desserts, so I'll definitely be trying those next time. I'd recommend ordering in person if you can -- you'll skip the extra Uber Eats fees and get the same great food for less. Hidden gem on Northern Blvd.

The meal was seamless from start to finish, the food, the service, the atmosphere was all great. Food came out quick and our waiter Kais took care of our group effotlessly. I really enjoyed my meal overall, I would say the apps and mains were both delicious but I would give an edge to the mains. The food: Borani Banjan- This was the highlight app for me with some freshly made Afghai Naan. Man this was so good and a must order. The eggplant was cooked perfectly. Bamia- This was like a stewed Okra and I loved this dish, the okra was cooked down but the flavor was so damn good. Mantu- This was a nice delicate dumpling, it was made well but because of the cumin I couldn't help think it reminded me of Tex Mex food. Aushuk- This was OK, it was kinda strange because there was this fermented flavor to it that kinda bothered me. Chicken Afghani Kabab- I am shocked to say this but the chicken was my favorite protein. It was perfection, it was perfectly juicy with a nice smokey outer char, this was amazing. Uzbeki Qabuli Pulao- This was a braised lamb shank and was no teeth required tender. It so incredibly delicate and so delicious. Salmon- Fat slabs of salmon cooked to perfection with a nice outer smokey char. So good. Lamb Kabab- This was fine but not as exciting as the above. The lamb was chewier than I was hoping but the flavor was nice. Beef Kofta- It was like a ground meat patty. It was ok, it was a bit chewy and a bit dry but it was alright. The two I want to try on my next visit is the shrimp and the lamb chops, can't wait for a second visit.

Jackson Heights has no shortage of great Southeast Asian food, so I was excited to give this spot a try. They have dine-in option and plenty of seating upstairs while the downstairs is just for takeout and was much busier. The Steamed Chicken Momos were satisfying, warm, and well-seasoned. There was a bit too much dough for my liking but I did enjoy the flavors. The Tandoori Mix was a nice assortment of various cuts of chicken & beef. Many of the pieces were on the dry side but again, the flavor was there. The Goat Shinwari Karahi is definitely worth getting. The goat was super tender and aromatic and the karahi is fragrant and made well. It's super greasy which I didn't like, and it wasn't served with anything. If you want rice/naan on the side, you need to add that on yourself. Nonetheless, for ~$20, it's still a great deal. The Chicken Biryani was fluffy, aromatic & fragrant, and filled with a good portion of chicken. This was the base for the other dishes we got and truly paired well with everything. The portion was perfect for 4 people and at ~$14, that's an unbeatable price! I also loved the Sesame Naan which scooped up the karahi sauce so well! The Kashmiri Tea here is so good! The pistachios are well incorporated so you don't feel like you're chewing so much while sipping, and the tea is rich & soothing. It's definitely cheap comfort food and we left feeling fill & satisfied but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Solid try!
