The place was dead, so we were seated quickly. Initially the waitress was prompt but after our drinks it took forever for her to return and take our order. So much so we had to ask not one but TWO servers if she was available. The hush puppies were excellent. So much so we wanted more (and they were supposed to be unlimited)! But the server never really came back before our food was served so we could get more... The food was incredibly... 'meh'... Both kids had burgers that were cool in the center and the toppings were underwhelming. My daughter had bacon on hers and it was overcooked. I had the burra tacos. They were also cool to the touch. Barely warm. The flavor was rather bland and the dipping sauce had no flavor. I ordered two and could barely stomach the first one. Once the waitress knew we wanted the check she was super responsive! But she blew us off for so much of the time that we all felt a 10% was truly a gift. I typically tip 20%, but it's hard to tip someone who expects the tip and isn't willing to put the effort in. Honestly it seemed that no one really cared. The cook did t care about the quality of food. The servers were more concerned about things other than the tables or the bar area. So if they don't care, what will the end result be? The sandeich was good on its own but was also enjoyable with a few of their bbq sauces (there are about 6 to try). When we arrived around 5:50 pm we were the only ones in line and yet the girl that was supposed to be taking orders was at the far end of the counter talking to some young guy. I know she had to see us but it was quite obvious that her conversation with him was more important than waiting on customers as she let us stand there several minutes before ending the conversation and coming to take our order. Then when my name was called to come pick up our order, a girl just handed my tray to me and turned around and walked away, no thank you, hope you enjoy it, nothing. How do you enteract with customers and not even speak to them?? The dining room was not clean. My wife had to clean off the table we sat at and there were napkins and a recipient laying on the floor in front of one of the trash cans. There wasn't that many diners at the time and too many employee's standing around for the dining room not to have been kept clean. The food would have been good if it had been served much warmer than it was and the service sucked!! We have had many good experiences here at City Barbeque in the past but the wife and I agreed after being served lukewarm food and the beyond crappy customer service we will no longer spend our hard earned money here so a return visit will not be happening.

Firstly there was a manager on duty there who had a bottle of beer in his hand the entire time we were there, but the worst of it was that I saw a customer who had an obvious disability stand beside the reception desk for a considerable length of time and was ignored by the receptionist, who I saw show people who were behind him to a table and totally ignore him, like he was invisible. That was bad enough but then the "manager" with beer in hand was standing beside him and did the same thing. It turned out he only wanted a milkshake which was finally served to him by a passing waitress. This is unacceptable behavior. I understand it was busy but this happened just after the game was over and people were leaving. You need to do better.

The place is lively without being too loud, you can easily have a conversation going and not have to shout at each other. Entrees were next. We decided on the Tomahawk pork chop with charred carrots and ancient grain pilaf. It looked like a caveman's plate! The chop was tender and flavorful and the carrots were 3 whole carrots that you had to cut up. Very different. The best part was the ancient grain side. So, so good. Nice compliment to the chop and carrots. I had to take half home it was just so much food. Next entree was the 7oz Filet with Parmesan mashed potatoes. Garlic butter was added to the steak which finished it off nicely. It was cooked to the right temperature and looked delicious. We were interested in dessert, but not something so big. They have a large portion dessert menu, but we just wanted a small bite to finish our dinner with. If you ask, they can do some mini desserts for you. We tried the mini crème brûlée cheesecake. It is two squares of cheesecake with a bit of whipped cream, raspberry syrup and berries. Perfect size for two if you are quite full but just want a little something sweet. Overall, the service was good. We had to wait a bit for bread, but not a big deal. We enjoyed our night out before Valentine's Day. I still would like to come in for their weekend brunch.
