I have 2 kids that live in the Cornelius area and we have gotten take out 2 separate times while visiting. On both occasions, I got Butter Chicken (Thai Hot). The spice was legit. Needed warm and comforting the other day after class so I stopped by Sangam Indian Cuisine in Cornelius. They do a lunch Buffett on Fridays, Saturdays, sundays and Monday's from roughly 11:30-3. This was not one of those days lol. Instead, their lunch menu was to choose a protein, choose and sauce, and naan was extra. The tomato soup was complementary that day - but it says $3.95 on their lunch menu otherwise. I chose the lamb saag (tender chunks of lamb in a sauce of spinach and herbs) and it was tender and flavorful without being spicy (I got a level 3 but shouldve gone higher as I typically like my sinuses draining and my body sweating). Price point was under $20 with tip as I got the garlic naan add on. I do wish they put more protein with my sauce but no complaints on the portion (I just prefer a more meat to sauce ratio). read more

I have been here more times than I can count. First service is great. If you like buffets with little heat go during the day. The have a buffet and it is perfect for first timers. While there was no "wow factor," the food was very good. We went to the weekend buffet and all the expected dishes were there: chicken tikka, chicken biryani, samosas, tandoori chicken, naan, raita. Everything you could expect to find was there. However there were no surprise dishes like goat curry or chicken vindaloo. And the tandoori chicken was not spicy in the least. This is a pick up order review, so I can't really speak to the service or the ambience. Our favorite local Indian restaurant closed down a few months back, and we've been struggling to find someplace new. It looks like we finally have! Used to be my absolute favorite restaurant but as of 2025 their quality has gone down. Especially the chicken (though it is bad everywhere because of federal deregulations). Their sauce as well used to be thick, gravy-like and deep flavors. However their sauces are very watered down now and gravy-like sauces are my whole life. Additionally, (for context: I usually get level 3 or 4 spice level) for a survivable kick of spice and flavour but the spices are almost gone now? Just the spicy aftertaste you could get after eating any cheap hot sauce. I love Indian food due to the spicy (many spices and being spicy) depth it has. It is likely due to tariffs and raising cost of everything however it is still sad to see. read more

It was a Friday. After boating at the Lake Norman, we went to Sangam in Cornelius that's was about 3 miles for Indian Food. Been there a couple of times. Their Indian food was very authentic as I was from the Royal HongKong Police Force before 1997. Authentic curry was popular among all police stations in those old days. Those Indians were prepared by Indian & Pakistan police chefs. As for Sangam, we loved their lamb kabobs. It was the first time we ran into their lunch buffet. There were varieties of Indian dishes with many vegetables, Tandoori chicken and beef balls. naan & rice. The price is very acceptable as it was around $28 for 2 persons. The other dishes in the menu are very good as well. The service was very good. It cost, may be $2 more for weekends. It's better checked to confirm if they have buffet on that day. read more

Heard good things about Sangam Indian Cuisine and had the try them out! It was a great experience! I opted for the Chicken Biryani and the Chicken Tikka Masala and it was really good! Sometimes, places can "water down" the food and make it very commercial-like. This was not the case! The dishes were flavorful and really good and tasted super authentic! I've been going to Sangam for years. I especially love their tikki masala. They also offer onion chutney, which is difficult to find at other Indian restaurants. I also enjoy their lunch buffet. It offers a variety of dishes for you to try for a reasonable price. The service is top notch and the owner has a great memory of his customers. Buffet is excellent with, not a ton of, but most of the traditional Indian favs. The only down side, if there is one, is the waiter who looks like mini-me and Vin Diesel had a kid. *LONG REVIEW ALERT* DO READ!! So where do I start? I genuinely feel bad for all the Non-Indians who go there to eat indian food. Sorry people that's not Indian food! There are better options around Charlotte! To begin with, we landed there on a Saturday evening around 5.30pm. we were the only ones in the restaurant other than the few take out parcels that were being sent out . We were greeted well ,took our seats and looked into the menu. The indo-chinese dishes caught our eye. Indo-chinese food is BIG in india. So we went ahead and ordered dahi papdi chat, Mix "VEGETABLE" Manchurian and Vegetarian hakka noodles.We specially requested we want them all to be spicy after reading a few comments about food being toned down to suit everyone. Let me go through each of them and tell you our experience. Dahi papdi chat- There was hardly any dahi(curd) or papdi(something like crisps). The chat was loaded with chickpeas and tamarind chutney. Sweet as hell. Where is the heat? The menu says serves 2. Umm.. maybe 2 kids? This was disappointing so we waited for our next dish. Mix "VEGETABLE" Manchurian- Again this was supposed to be spicy. The Manchurian was dripping ketchup and not one bit spicy. Ignoring the heat part of it. The Manchurian was steaming hot like it came right out of microwave. As we started eating we realized it had only cauliflower. We checked with the server if they had served us gobi (cauliflower) manchurian instead of mix veg Manchurian. Annnnddd we were told cauliflower is also a vegetable (: OMG! Thank you for enlightening us!!!! We usually don't complain but the least they could do is tell us this is what they had or one sorry and we wouldn't have felt this bad or asked for a replacement. We already dropped our expectations for the next dish. Vegetarian Hakka noodles- It was basically pasta in indian marinara sauce and the vegetables definitely came out of some other curry! I found a cardamom pod in my noodles and the vegetables had an off taste. Has anyone ever eaten wet and soggy hakka noodles??! Who adds potato to hakka noodles? The potato had a very indian curry flavor. Very disappointing! Most of the food seemed like it came straight out of freezer of something that was on the verge of rotting. Almost stale! As Indians we always look forward to eating at indian restaurants and enjoy our home food. I can't even call this indian food! This is the worst "Indian" food I have had outside of India.
