07/17 Searching for a Gyro in St. Albans, I found my myself at Halal Grill Eats. After reading all of the reviews in its entirety, I strongly believe that the 5 starts are based upon their signature dishes. I really need to start with the customer service, it was trademark level, the gentleman taking my order, exceeded all of my expectations and delivered exceptional customer service and engagement. 5/5 and I would love to stop here, but I have to proceed with the entire visit. Walking in, the atmosphere seems pretty neat, offering countertop dining by standing and I discovered a very small cozy dining set-up on the Merrick Ave side entrance. There is not much to their decorations but the restaurant was bright and stocked well, more on that later. I ordered the Lamb Gyro to go, with the appropriate toppings and sauces. When I returned home to enjoy my lamb Gyro, ooohh boy ooohh boy, what a let down. The lamb Gyro was dry, salty, and very spicy. Who in the H. E. hockey sticks puts spicy sauce on a freaking Gyro. It was the worst Gyro ever. It left me with bubbly guts. I know TMI !!! I also ordered the cherry cream cheese cake and a carrot cake. THE STOCK** The cakes were intentionally stocked to the max and merchandised well. I think to well. I say this because the cakes looks like no one touched them. So when I started eating the cherry cheese cake, it was warm. I started feeling nauseous after consuming it. I prayed that I could hold it down. I ate the carrot cake the next day after taking it out of the refrigerator. I threw it away after a couple bites it was not to my liking and I love cheese cake, but this had an awkward taste. So I'm led to believe that the cakes are one or two things. 1. Left in the cooler and not disposed when they are older than shelf life, or 2. Ordered from another facility as is, (old). I do need to mention the serious concerns for improvement, like when you are making the food and you leave it out on the counter waiting to add topping etc ... Make sure you don't have flies flying around landing on the food. I saw a fly do a touch and go like it was performing for an air show. See video! I won't be back to get there significant dishes or the burger as one Yelper advise. One star rounded up to two because of customer service but the other things mentioned kept it a low star review. In conclusion, I really didn't want to be that guy to give less than 5 stars, so I'll give mercy and say that this review is on the Lamb Gyro, Cherry cheese cake, and the carrot cake. I wish I had more to give, still... Inspire more, Yelp more! read more

Halal Grill Eats is so good! I ended up going two days in a row. The service is awesome, the funny part is that on the second day, the same person who helped me before recognized me and said, "Hey, you're back!" I ordered the lamb over rice, and it was delicious. They serve it with a side of salad and french fries, all very fresh and satisfying. I got the white sauce and the barbecue sauce on my platter always a solid combo. I also tried the chicken quesadilla. It was a little on the strange side, but still okay. It's pretty small inside but there is an area to sit. I definitely plan on trying more items when I go back! read more

Let me start with this. We went to three different places before fate led us to Halal Grill on Springfield and Merrick in Queens and it was destiny. I had never tried this spot before but Queens was clearly keeping this gem a secret from me. I am a variety girl. I am a condiments girl. I am a toppings queen. This place understood the assignment. I ordered the chicken and lamb over rice because why choose when you can have both. Not only does it come with salad but it also comes with fries. Salad and fries together is balance if you ask me. The tomato cucumber mix was seasoned to perfection. I had to add raw onions because texture is life and by the time I got home they had mellowed into the perfect kick. The pickles were amazing. I added extra cucumber salad and I told them to absolutely drown my bowl in white sauce. Did I pay extra for toppings. Yes. Was I mad about it. Absolutely not. Flavor is worth every penny and it was a little over a dollar extra. Now here is the real plot twist. The burger. Do not you dare leave without ordering it. The gentleman at the counter told me people love their burgers because they are cooked over the char grill. He was not lying. This burger was a masterpiece. In a city full of flat top smash burgers this one took me right back to the backyard cookouts where family laughs, uncles man the grill, and everything feels good. The bun was light but strong enough to hold juicy meat, cheese, onions, tomatoes and all the fixings. When I got home we absolutely demolished it. Silence at the table because we were too busy inhaling greatness. The place was spotless. The staff were friendly. They handled my extra requests like pros. The food came out fast and the portions are no joke. I stretched that lamb and chicken plate into three meals which means you are really getting bang for your buck. Will I be back. Of course. Maybe not tomorrow because I am still working on leftovers but Halal Grill definitely has a new fan. Highly recommend. And please for the love of food order the burger. read more

New Halal food business alert!! This place was previously a Golden Crust Jamaican Restaurant for years. Now it's an Halal restaurant. It's a good location because there is a lot of traffic that passes there. There's a Papa Johns pizza and a Dunkin Donuts right next door. There is also a bus stop right in front, so it sucks for drivers, but there is Street parking a little further up and a little parking lot. They fixed it up really nice. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was their customer service, but it wouldn't stop me from ordering from them again. They had a vast menu board and a variety of desserts. I ordered the jerk chicken platter and it was PLENTIFUL. It comes with mildly spiced jerk chicken, yellow rice, French fries, salad and pico de gallo. I added some red onions, banana peppers an jalapeño because I love spice. Don't forget the white sauce, I prefer mine on the side. I must say it was worth it. A definite must go.
