Great halal! I loved the options for sides, you could get either pita, hummus or fries, I got the fries and it was good. I got two mix over platters and it was pretty good, the white sauce was a bit sour but it matched well with the meat. The platter rounded up to $10 and it was worth it to say. Only giving it 4 stars because the service wasn't that friendly. I told them what sauce I wanted and he interrupted me while I was talking and said to tell the chefs. I also thought you had to tell them what side you wanted when you're ordering and the cashier immediately cut me off during my sentence and told me to tell them when they're done making it. He seemed like he was in a rush and I was holding up the line, when in fact, there wasn't a line at all. They also add a service charge of 3.7%. Wish I never even ordered from here. I was seriously craving halal and this was the closest place that I knew was open. Plus, the reviews didn't look that bad. WRONG. I placed the order on Grubhub for 3 Mix Platters for pick up. Stopped by 30 minutes after placing the order and none of the platters were made. I had to wait on line and order the food. Top it off, Grubhub pricing was $8.99 while in store pricing was $6.99. The two dollars extra per platter was not bad if the food was ready for pick up and I did not have to wait on line to order. But that didn't happen, ended up wasting another 15 min in store ordering, so the extra charge was unreasonable. When he was adding the salad, I asked for some chickpeas. He did not tell me it was extra. Instead he said that I won't be getting my fries that came with the order because I added a topping to my salad. I honestly was fine with paying a bit extra for the chickpeas separately but he refused and would not give me fries. I didn't want to make a scene, so I reluctantly left the shop. The 3 orders via Grubhub costed me $29.23 and what I got was three mix plates with meat, salad, and rice. NO FRIES. Very disappointed at the service. The food itself was mediocre. I have been craving good chicken/ lamb over rice for a long time. I've had from multiple places but was not satisfied. Today I had the zinger burger ( which was customized to my specification) and chicken /lamb over rice ( also made to my liking ). I was able to add or remove items from a big salad bar. I think the only reason the 5th star was not awarded was there were no restrooms available to my knowledge and I felt the portions could have been a bit larger. Being from Los Angeles, we have similar places for the same price that can literally feed 2 people with leftovers. However, from the rice, the pita bread, the salad, white sauce, and green sauce, everything was on point. If you can't handle spicy, be careful when asking for the red and green sauce mix cause it's quite the burn. A gem in a sea of garbage; Halal Boyz was infinitely better than 9/10 things in this area, I absolutely adored it and it was refreshing to not have to travel by bus to go find any sort of food meant for human beings. I've tried their chicken and lamb over rice as well as phili cheese steak and both were really both in quality and flavor. I cannot speak for the rest of their menu as I have not tried it. If you're looking for a cheap place to eat in Fresh Meadows with good food it is probably one of two options (at least from what I've tried in Horace Hoarding). They already have the meats prepared and you really only just need to tell them what you want and they put it in the take out box for you. I got the lamb platter and the chicken platter but I definitely liked the lamb a lot more. I got them with fries and salad. The meats are juicy and very flavorful in itself, even without the sauce but of course you need to add the sauce for halal! The prices are just a little higher than what you'd pay from a cart but I guess it's reasonable since you're getting it from a store rather than from a cart. We order from here occasionally and never had an issue. But, last month I put an order in for their Philly cheesesteak and wrote in notes "not spicy". Received "spicy" cheesesteak. I called the restaurant and spoke to someone named Darvish (not sure of spelling ), he said next time let them know and he wont charge us. I called order in yesterday, mentioned the wrong order letting them know who we spoke to. When my son went to pick up, they would not honor the free order. Said it was over a month ago. Can't say I'm a fan of the shredded lamb. It almost tastes like ground beef. You wouldn't tell the difference. The gyro is good but not great with the shredded lamb. Aside from that, my biggest complaint is about one of the employees. A guy went in and stood there on the phone, coughing, AND NOT WEARING A MASK. NONE of the employees said anything. I thought they were supposed to enforce this. No mask no service? Anyway, the a hole of a guy who wasn't wearing a mask asked one of the employees to take a phone order from his cellphone. At first the employee hesitated but then took the call. (Took the cellphone in his hand) and with that same hand that he used the phone, he went on to serving the guy. No gloves. With that same bare hand he grabbed my pita bread from the oven. Normally I wouldn't give a s--- if employees weren't wearing gloves to serve. I'm sure they wash their hands. But to grab some random persons phone and serve him and everyone else with that same hand especially when he was coughing and not wearing a mask???? Yuk...
