    22. Chicken Shawarma Platter with Fries
    Steven T.

My friend highly recommended this spot and said he has been coming here since he was a kid. We went with his go-to which was a spicy chicken shawarma. The wrap was really good - good mix of veggies and chicken with a spicy tangy sauce to go with. They make the bread in house so you get nice slightly chewy texture with a great taste. The fries were decent but I loved the seasoning they add on. Solid shawarma spot form your neighborhood kabob spot.

"Kabob and tandoori bread." Don't trust any menu you see online because they won't honor the prices.

Deceptive pricing, bad service. They randomly upped the price and did not give a receipt. Really wanted to be able to recommend this place but cant. they've raised prices since 2022 without increasing quality of the food and now charge for the tiny sauce on the side. Service is rude and dismissive. I tried to put an order in online but the final step for payment wouldn't work ($39). I called to place the exact same order but the staff hung up on me before I could even finish my sentence asking what the total price was. No problem. Showed up to pick up my order and the price was now $43.88. I asked about the discrepancy and was told the menu I found online wasn't them. I pulled up the menu and showed her, she then acknowledged it *was* their menu but it was from 2022 and they don't honor it. She must've not liked that I was asking about the prices of what I was paying for because she added that she'd prefer I inquire about pricing when I phoned in my order. I told her it tried but she hung up on me. lol at this point, it's not like she cared so eh there wasn't much to do but pay and leave. I wouldn't have ordered the kabob with tandoori bread if I knew its actual price-- it's a very small portion. There are other halal kabob places with similar quality and better service.

    Rude Lady

The worst staff I've ever experience. Rude customer service. Lady over the phone took our order in a rush and hung up without giving us a chance to ask anything and also told us it would take 10-15 mins. We get there 15 mins later and she tells me it will be 10-15 more minute. Never returning again here. Heard food is good but with customer service like that there are other places in DC area that are actually worth it.

    8. Gyro with Chicken Kebab full of sauce for the order of no sauce.

Not clean. Disrespectful people, dirty food they even don't know how to get the customers order. I have ordered food and told them that I can't have any sauce but they give me full of sauce and then they didn't accept their fault they start blaming that this order can not be without sauce.

Stay away from this restaurant - this is how the owner treats its customer and potential future customers.

Proof positive that you and your family should steer clear of this establishment. The nasty owner ADIBA sent me a rude and nasty comment on YELP. ADIBA take a few days off from the register and take some customer service classes. Your restaurant does smell bad it may have a lot to do with your nasty attitude. Who do you think you are? There are plenty of other great afghan restaurants where the owners are pleasant and the food is great. 14 years you've been in business and yet you still haven't learned to treat your customers the right way. Shame on you. We were visiting family in Virginia and decided to eat before arriving to their house. I dropped my wife and family in the front of the store while I parked the car. Upon entering the store I was greeting with the foul odor of raw meat and my family and I contemplating if we should stay or not. The owner didn't greet my family while we were deciding to stay or leave. We took a menu and immediately left the premises. Who can eat with that smell in there. Smh

My husband and I came here late one evening to try out their all-day buffet. They offer fresh naan, spinach, bone-in chicken, lentils, rice, and chickpeas. My favorite out of all the selection offerings was the chickpeas as it was very flavorful, thick, and hearty, with the bed of rice. The spinach and the chicken were okay, but more on the bland side for me. There was also a section for some salad if you wish. Service was friendly, and there is a limited dining area. I think if you're craving for some good chickpeas and are looking for more of a 'vegetarian' option, Halal Kabab House can be a place to go to. There seemed to be a lot of people coming in for carry-outs. Situated next to Grand Mart, I am glad I was able to check this hole-in-the-wall eatery out. +flavorful chickpeas :D

    Chicken Shawarma

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Annandale. The Chicken Shawarma is probably the best I've ever had in the DMV area and for a really reasonable price too. You won't think much of it from the atmosphere or location but one bite of this shawarma will make you forget about anything else! If you can't handle mild/moderate spices, make sure to get a bottle of water but don't miss out on the flavor!

She got in my face and yelled at me cause I asked her how long it was going to be

Got a combo of chicken kabob and shami kabob along with a side of their borani banjan/eggplant dish. The eggplant was honestly one of my favorite things- it's a must get in my opinion. Homey dish with incredible flavors! Their naan is fresh and pairs well with it. The chicken was good, but I've had better honestly. The shami was a little disappointing as I expected more flavor and it was slightly dry, but good. Their rice was so tasty and I loved the sweetness coming from the carrots an raisins. Of course, the sheeryakh was great- quite a big portion for one person, but I loved the texture. It tastes very similar to the Indian/South Asian/Pakistani ice cream, "Kulfi." CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK: Service needs improvement. The whole time I was there I had to keep looking for waiters to make eye contact with to ask for menu, water, paying, etc. It took about 10 min or more for me to have to call a busy waiter over just to look at the menu- no one came over on their own. Things just took time for a Saturday night- plus they were hosting an event on top of this. Needless to say, I've never had service like this, but the vibe and food made me be not as harsh. Despite the service, this place is a must try for authentic Afghan cuisine. Can't wait to try more of their menu (and the borani banjan again) in the future!

We were also a party of five but were only given one menu to share so not very convenient. I ordered the Chicken & Shami Kabob and it came with a choice of white or brown rice, one side, and naan. The meal looked nothing like the photo on the restaurant's website. The portion was overwhelmingly rice with very little meat. None of the garnishes shown in the picture were included on the rice. For $24 I expected a much better presentation and a more balanced portion. Oh and the meat was kind of dry. Parts of our order were missing, some dishes that came out were incorrect. The experience felt disorganized and the food didn't justify the price.

Maybe that is why there are so many local locations.  This day we went to the Alexandria Cava and found a very large, clean and airy space.  The parking is a big lot right out front so it is all super easy.  The staff was helpful and friendly and the service was quick.  We chose one falafel bowl and one with harissa honey chicken.  We have no shame when it comes to the toppings so there were a lot of crunchy and spicy and creamy and you name it flavors and textures to add which makes each bit a little different and a lot enjoyable.  Cava quick serve is definitely a go to choice

It can add up quickly so watch out. We did two bowels with side of pita chips, two cups for water. About $40 - the food is fresh & delicious (best Falafel that I have had) and per my wife healthy. I really wish Flavor Hive would have additional toppings - just cucumber tomato onion cilantro etc are quite minimal. Would be awesome if they could add something like beet salad or beans!
