6 months ago- My husband and I utilized Hala Tree Service last year and we were so pleased we wrote a review on Yelp. This year we called on them again and Rodney returned our phone call right away. Rodney is very polite and professional over the phone and is very easy to work with.We had an enormous ficus tree that was at least 20 years old we wanted cut down. He provided an estimate in a timely manner and was very reasonable. The next morning the crew of 2 arrived 30 min early (better early than late). They immediately got to work.They are prompt, friendly, courteous, respectful, professional, fast and efficient. We live on a lot with 10 houses that had several assorted trees, palms, ficus, and fruit trees, many were over 30 years old and enormous that needed to be cut down or cut back, they did such a good job, they were hired to come back and do the whole lot! They returned first thing in the morning with just a few more people and again Immediately started working and had all the trees cut in one day! I couldn't get over how some of the trees they cut down, didn't even look like a tree was ever there and how they cut specific trees exactly the way we wanted them. These guys are amazing and do an amazing job! We definitely refer them and will call on them again! 3/14/19 Called on their services again to cut down an enormous tree, and as always Rodney was courteous and quick to response for a quote. After having had experience with hiring a variety of contractors, doing business with Hala's tree care was the worst by any standards. Their degree of unprofessionalism is astounding. Besides not wearing mask or socially distancing, they left behind an unfinished work after taking the money for it. The promise was to remove all the brush along the fence of the property, which included the removal of the roots, the old wooden fence, and hauling away all the trash and the green waste. Rodney was condescending and rude. After promising to finish the job in one day and failing to do so, he demanded the payment and practically bullied me into giving him the money. Subsequently, on the second day, Rodney started backtracking on his promises, falsely claiming that certain plants weren't included and he wasn't going to remove them. When the agreement was originally made, Rodney's exact words were "I will clean everything out and it will look brand new". The word "everything " was used repeatedly and there were no particular plants that weren't included in the removal. Rodney started demanding more money for the job he initially agreed to do. The bottom line is that if what we were offering to pay for the work wasn't enough, he could've simply said no and we would've gone our separate ways. I used Hala once and they did an amazing job. Rodney was so polite and his crew was amazing. I even recommended him to other people. A year later i needed my trees cleaned up again. So of course I called Hala after the great previous experience. I Spoke w/ Rodney over the phone and he was as polite as he was last time. He said he would swing later that day to give me a quote since I'm only a few blocks away from him and my palms are in the front yard. I Called back the next day and he said very politely he hadn't driven by yet. I understood, he may be busy. I Called the next day and still hadn't driven by. So we agreed on a date and time for him and his crew to arrive and trim my 5 queen palms. NEVER SHOWED UP! I text him 2 hours after the agreed time, giving him the benefit of the doubt he may be running a bit behind schedule. I text to ask if they were still coming. No reply. I called him.No answer and left a voicemail to see if they were still coming. No returned phone call or text. Was really disappointed with Rodney and Hala. rodney is a thief. i paid him for a job and never completed it! had to hire another company to complete fell for his story that he didn't have the money to pay his workers or supplies. have know him for 25 plus years of doing tree cutting and minor things for our family so thought i could trust him. he plays the robert to pay paul scam. so sad he says on his voice mail have a blessed day! we all need to pray for this sad man. if he would take advantage of a long term customer he's fishing for new ones to screw!!!! read more

I was referred to Hala's Tree Care by friends and I am so glad they did. I not only had several palms cleaned up and seeds removed, but as we talked about other items that needed doing in the yard, they could do them as well. I felt their price was fair, the work was done as I specified, and the workers were all polite and efficient. They arrived when they said they would, finished completely, and cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day. I will definitely use them again. Rodney is the man. Called him last night. He showed up with his boys today, gave me a great quote and handled business. My backyard is large. Over 7k sq. Feet with about 25 trees. Had the worst ever experience with the company. These guys trimmed the trees and left a huge pile of branches on the street, my driveway and the sidewalk. When I contacted the guy who gave me his card, he mentioned that they had too much work and subcontracted his friend to help him with trimming the trees and haul away the branches and now he is refusing to pick up the branches that he left behind. It has been over two weeks since they did the tree trimming and the branches are still there. Finally I had to call the city to get them removed from the street. I checked with my neighbors who used them the same time as they were trimming the trees in my backyard and one mentioned that they broke their fence and didn't pick up the branches from the backyard, another three complained that these guys left the cut branched in their backyard and didn't clean up or finish the job. Its a shame that this company and the other one that they collaborated/subcontracted with 'Coastline Tree Care' lost what could have been their long term customers just to make quick money around holidays. read more

I wish I could give them zero stars. They did not finish the work they were contracted to do. I made CONFIRMED appointments for them to come back and finish the work on three separate occasions. On each occasion they were a no show. After the third time, it was obvious they had no intention of ever finishing the job. Check their license - it's suspended. I'm currently suing them for breach of contract. You've been warned! read more

I contacted Hala's Tree Care to trim a tree, grind a stump, and do however much they could to clear my yard to replace it with rock. I chose Hala because of the great reviews here... after working with Rodney I am surprised there are not more of them! Rodney came on Saturday morning to discuss my project. I was overwhelmed with the thought of the scope of changing my yard. Rodney and his crew have made it a magical transition for me! I know it was not so magical for them - a whole lot of HARD work! They started early Monday morning and cleared all the grass that was left, all the weeds, some sad rose bushes, a clump of cactus, and all the overgrowth hanging over from my neighbors' yards too - there were a bunch of pretty big rocks they had to move too. They trimmed my tree and ground an old stump - and that was day 1. They also moved the sprinkler system to keep my tree watered and healthy... and reset the timer for me too. Rodney gave me a great price for all the work they did to transform my mess and also arranged for and managed to work out a great price for landscape fabric and all the rocks to cover my 4400 square feet of ground! They did it all and in just a few days! Their website says they are customer based - and they are. I will have them back every year to trim my tree... with anything else that might be needed around the yard. I am so happy with with Hala's Tree Care. You will be too. read more
