Haley's Ice Cream is located behind the swimsuit boutique with entrance right off the beach. They offer a large selection of Hershey's ice creams by the scoop, in cones (cake, sugar, or waffle), in shakes, or in sundaes. When we were there, there only appeared to be one person working, so service was a bit slow though he was working incredibly hard. The ice cream was standard fare, and the inside seating was unremarkable. However outside seating was available in the form of stools at a bar facing the ocean. Came here with a friend for the wonderful ocean view and a sweet treat but ended up being disappointed. I was surprised to find they sold Hershey's ice cream instead of having any homemade. I've been to places that had both and would list on the menu what was homemade vs store bought. Here it's only store bought so it just felt like I paid for someone else to scoop ice cream I could have in my freezer at home. The view of the ocean and outdoor seating is nice but needs to be better taken care of. The bar top had wood sticking out that could cause a splinter and when we got up to leave we realized the stools we were sitting on were cracking on the legs, this could be very dangerous if it snaps when someone sits down in it! Overall I was left with an underwhelm feeling and I don't see a return visit in the future. read more

It is a fine ice cream shop with access to great views and a decent amount of outdoor seating. They serve Hershey ice cream, so it's not homemade, but it tastes fine. Price is obviously more than what you'd pay at the grocery store but not awful. I got to try a few different ice creams. The Superman, which consists of blue moon, strawberry, and banana flavors, tasted oddly like bubblegum but not in a bad way. Raspberry sorbet was nice and tart while the cherry was sweet and had small chunks of cherries in it as well. Staff consists fully of teenagers but everyone was kind and worked efficiently. The smoothies were made with pineapple, I believe, and looked tasty but I did not try them. Don't come here expecting a great, homemade ice cream. You will receive some Hershey ice cream that tastes like the same treat you can find at the grocery store at a slightly higher price. read more

We walked up the beach and decided to run in and grab ice cream with our kids. None of us had shoes on, which I don't think is encouraged, but the employees were nice enough to not kick us out. They had a lot of flavors to choose from, but it didn't seem like they had any non-dairy options available. When we ordered ice cream cones for the kids, they suggested we get the ice cream in cups (due to the immediate melt factor once we went outside) and gave them their cones on top of the ice cream---I thought that was very nice. read more

This place is an amazing ice cream store at Holden Beach! I go every year and sense the first time I came, I have been amazed by it! The ice cream is so sO SOO good! The staff is so nice! The games are not rigged at all! I definitely recommend the quarter game! I really recommend going while in town! The price is always good for what I am getting, I have seen rare places with water for only a dollar! They have all 3 kinds of cones so a good variety! I have never sat outdoor though I see many do! I think the out door seating has enough room for a few family's. You can always take you ice cream for a walk on the beach too! Great tasting ice cream! Open till 9 or 930 in the warmer months And great staff! The staff was really friendly and we were even asked if we were unsure of a flavor we could taste a sample. This is a nice, beachfront ice cream parlor. It sells Hershey's ice cream, many flavors of which I like a lot, and which are hard to get. Portions are generous. I ordered Oatmeal Cookie Craving on one visit, Better Brownie Batter on another, and Midnight Caramel River on the last. All were delicious. There are places to sit, so you can eat a cone (or bowl) without taking it into the heat where it would melt fast. If there was one knock against it, it's that they typically have only one person behind the counter. If you get behind a large family (as happened to me on one visit) whose members order a lot you can expect a good length wait. read more

I really like this place! I see the negative reviews but we went twice and got gold star service! It is staffed by young kids, likely their first summer job so you have to expect a little imperfection. A young fellow waited on us the first time and a young lady the second time. We were passing through the area, and stopped at the beach so the kids could get some shells. We needed to use the restroom. The sign said no public restroom, but the man kindly told us we could just use it this time. Our kids went over to say thank you, and he kindly offered them both a free cup of ice cream! DO NOT GO HERE!! COMPLETELY RUDE STAFF MEMBERS. We went there at 9:45, 15 minutes before close, and the doors were locked completely and the staff members were sweeping the floors. We knocked on the doors a couple of times and the staff inside COMPLETELY ignored us. We know they heard us too. I am 68 years old my wife is 66 and we will have to say we had two of the WORSE milk shakes in our entire life I threw mine away after two small drinks they tasted terrible and the price was not any better. If I could give a half star I would. $7.00 each and they couldnt have had $.020 in them total. I would not recommend to my worse enemy. read more

We walked up the street from our beach house to Haley's Ice Cream for dessert. Had a long wait but staff handled it well and the staff was nice. Only a few complaints are they didn't have no root beer for a root beer float and it felt like the heat was on inside while waiting for our turn. Horrible customer service. Twelve of us waited until after a huge rainstorm to go for ice cream only to be told that they closed early because of the rain. Even though there were still two employees working and the lights were on, we were very rudely told they were closed. We took our business to Sunset Slush, where they very happily served us.
