Buyer Beware! First to be clear, this is a review about our overall dining experience, not about…read morethe hotel itself. When we arrived at the entrance gate we specifically asked where we could park and were told to drive to the front entrance. At the entrance we were told that our only option for parking was valet parking. We would have been glad to park our own car but were told that was not an option. (More on that shortly.) In the restaurant, we were presented with a menu that was a three or four course prix fix, starting at $165 per person. We had not been warned of this ahead of time. Given that we are not big eaters and there was no way we could eat that much food, we moved to the restaurant next to Navio where there was an ala carte menu. Our dinner there was averaage, nothing special. I would give that restaurant about a 3 for overall dining experience. When we asked the valet for our car we were ushed to a cashier's desk where we were told that the parking fee for the less than 2 hours we had been there was $35. Our impression was that the entire experience was one of being taken advantage of. We were not forewarned of the prix fix dinner menu. We were compelled to use valet parking which we did not need and compelled to pay an outrageous $35 which we had not been forewarned of either. The whole thing felt like a cash grab. Its not about the money. Its about the obvious strategy of springing unexpected expenses on people who have already committed to an evening out with the assumption they will pay rather than object. Well, I object. And you should, too. Take my advice and if you want a nice dinner out in HMB with an ocean view, go to La Costeneda where you get great food and service and the parking is free.
