Believe we did a couples massage + body scrub and full boy massage for somewhat around $500. The location is lovely and in a small little shopping area near a bunch of other little stores. Nice plant shop in there and had to get myself something. But much much to do around here and I got a few recommendations from the young lady at the front desk. When arriving we parked right by the entrance in the back and walked right in. Was greeted immediately and taken care of. Love the kindness of the ladies at the front and service was very fast. Filled out some paperwork and got right to it. Liliana who was servicing me for the day was a sweetheart from start to finish. She made me feel so comfortable and just knew her magic! I left the place just so relaxed and calm. I will definitely be returning back here for another service. It's very cozy and I love how it was very quiet and they did everything as I expected. From the amazing, staff that made accommodations and booking for us ( Lizzy) who answered email inquiries with constant professionalism and a sense of humor. Nice place to relax the price was reasonable although we were there early they came and got us at exactly the time out massage was suppose to start so I wasn't a fun of that but the rooms were nice the lounge was jive and of course we had to buy eminence skin care products ! I like they had more time to get a massage but again if the massage starts at 10 and it's super dead and they are coming to get up from the lounge at 10 we still had to get situated in the room which obviously cut it to the massage If i go back it's only because they offer longer massage times but I wonder if it matters if they aren't coming to get you in time for your massage lol I would try it again but I'm probably raise this concern as it just a lot of money and consideration of time that should be had because if I was late they make it very clear it is what it is so to be on time and still feel like I was late was unacceptable The massage lady I had like fixed my toe she was freaking amazing I have big toe osteoarthritis and they way she got in there it was amazing I think I got a lymphatic massage I don't even know but OMG most people seem to want to avail the feet and it was like that was he specialty in fixing cricket creaky toes lol I was so impressed how she really massaged the joints and got in there and I was able to be pain free without a flower up for like a month It a sweet place over all we did get lost and directions were a bit confusing but once you find it you'll never forget ! Massage for me and a friend was so-so. My masseuses hands were icy cold and the oils used were also cold which kept my head out of the relaxation feeling. I kept wondering what a masseuse could do with cold hands. The massage was at times a little too strong and at times too gentle and different on each side. I asked for special attention to lower back and right hand but didn't feel any special attention to either. Having said all this my daughter has had an excellent massage here which is why I went so it may depend on therapist. They also used warm washcloth to take oil off, I just didn't get that, I like the oil. I love the Oceano Hotel, I wished I loved the spa too?? read more

I've found my go to spa! Half Moon Bay is such a cute little town! My friends and I had great experiences at Oceano Coastal Spa. From the booking process to the spa services- I was very satisfied. Staff was always very responsive and accommodating to my group requests via phone and email. They are professional and really tried to get our group in during the same time frame. There is a free parking lot associated with the hotel. Park and take the elevator up to the lobby. The spa is a little tricky to find- ask the front desk to tell you how to get to the spa! The spa itself is really cute and beautiful. It is very welcoming and smells amazing. After you check in, they will lead you to the Relaxation room where you can enjoy some ice water and look at magazines while filling out a questionnaire. There are several different types of rooms depending on the service(s) you get. The guest room I had for the Deep Lavender Body Treatment was perfect. It had a bathtub, shower and massage table. My therapist was sweet and explained everything that was going to happen and made me feel comfortable. The body scrub was ahh-mazing and left my skin feeling baby soft. The massage was also great- I just wished it was longer! Some shops and great restaurants around the area. Highly recommend and will be coming back for my next visit soon! read more

My husband and I were in Half Moon Bay for a long Valentine's Day weekend. We both had been wanting to get a massage for a while. What better way to treat ourselves than a couples massage! From the moment we walked in, it was such a relaxing experience. The lovely woman at the front desk checked us in, took us back to the relaxation room and invited us to enjoy some citrus infused water while filling out the required questionnaire. After a short while, our masseuses, Jira (mine) and Kari (my husband's), came in to greet us, confirm the types of massage we wanted (Swedish for my husband and Vida - combo hot stone and Swedish - for me). My husband was very happy with his massage. During my massage Jira made sure the touch was right and I was comfortable. I was also quite happy with my massage. Sixty minutes went way to fast, but we were both so relaxed at the end. Honestly, neither of us wanted to get up and dressed. We were led back to the relaxation room to enjoy a champagne and Kir Royale before having to go. Perfect ending to a perfect spa treatment! The Oceano Coastal Spa is very clean and beautiful. The oils and lotions they use smell wonderful. The music just relaxes you even more. While the price for the massage is higher than we would have paid in VA, it was well worth it. I received a gift card for my birthday. I have been here four times over the last decade or so. My first two visits were 5/5. This time, the place was just not as pristine in terms of the overall treatments and services. I got a massage and mini facial. The massage therapist was on the elderly side, so my deep tissue massage that was extra money felt like a very gentle Swedish massage. Quality: My favorite thing from my first visit here was the water bath soak add-on. It used to be a fantastic deal, and this visit they raised the price, and threw in some loose bath salts, nothing I couldn't do at home. The "Waters" has doubled in price, and nothing seemed "special", considering I spent close over $300 with my tip. read more

My husband and I decided to try a new place for the weekend. we normally go to the Ritz for a spa day. I booked us a couples massage and it was by far the worst massage I've ever had. I normally would just bite my tongue but this spa was the same price point as the ritz and typically even if it's a bad massage you still leave "okay. I'm still relaxed". I honestly don't know what this lady was doing. She didn't massage my lower back, my hands, my arms and spent 90% of it pushing down on my body parts with the sheet covering me. They usually do that in the beginning to loosen you up...this was the entire time practically. She massaged my upper back and then immediately moved to my calves (and that's it. Back to pushing down on me). It was strange! I complained when we left and got 10% off which in my opinion didn't meet the mark on a 360.00 couples massage. I won't be back. This is my second time here and it was as relaxing as the first time. I came here with two others and we took advantage of the monthly special for the Royal Treatment. This treatment included a 30 min soak in a salt and rose petal bath, a body scrub and a detox wrap, a facial and an hour massage. When we walked in, we were greeted by the receptionists and she brought us into the waiting room where the ambiance was calming and we were offered tea and fancy fruit water. This place was amazing! The staff were very calm, kind and made us feel right at ease. They have an adorable lounge where you come in and fill out a brief questionnaire so they know of any medical conditions or allergies to be wary of. Then they take you into the room where you will have your treatments (great decor and music!) Ours were amazing -- make sure you try the tea bath and hot stone couples massage! The ladies walked us through everything beforehand and let us relax on our own in the bath. We came out feeling nice and warm and relaxed. The oils and salts in the bath made my skin feel so nice and soft. Then they let us know it was time to slip under the covers on the massage table and gave us a few minutes before they came in. It was the first time I had a hot stone massage and it will not be the last =] My masseuse was very attentive and checked in every once in a while to make sure the pressure and heat she was using were alright. Yesterday, I needed a massage right away. I had been having bad headaches and neck pain for a few days due to stress and I couldn't remedy it on my own. I knew I needed a massage. My usual go-to massage place in Pacifica was not available for same day appointments so I decided to try Oceano Coastal Spa. I am SO happy I did! First of all, it is absolutely stunning inside this spa. It is probably the most beautiful space on the coast I have found so far. It is quiet, serene, and spotless. As soon as I walked through the doors I felt myself melt. The front desk staff woman was really kind and helpful. She led me to a back waiting area that is just gorgeous. I felt like I walked into a deliciously peaceful zen space. The lighting throughout is dim so it feels romantic and sweet, but also carries an air of comfort and approachability. The waiting area has lemon water and teas available while you wait (I'll take advantage of that next time!). It is truly a beautiful spa. The massage rooms are extremely private and sound proofed - so you feel like you are in a cocoon. Each room is beautifully decorated and they feel like private suites you get all to yourself. The massage table was warmed - plus for that, especially on the foggy coast! It also seemed like a wider table than I have usually been on, so it was extra comfortable. On our way to my room, I caught a glimpse of the couples massage area and that looked fun!! There were two massage tables side by side in a larger room. My massage therapist was excellent. She listened and responded to my needs so well. When I left, my muscles were less tense and I was more relaxed. Exactly what I had gone there for. Yes, it was quite a bit more expensive than my regular go-to massage place but, yes, it was worth it. The splurge is worth the beauty and serenity of Oceano Coastal Spa. It really got me relaxed in a way I hadn't been for a long time - even with my regular massage place. I will definitely return here for sure. read more

Before you read any further let me just say that if you book a massage here ask for Christina. The end. I have had MANY and I mean MANY massages, all over the world in fact, and Christina is amazing. She literally has a 6th sense about massage, where to focus on, pressure, when to talk and when not to talk. All of those are hard to find in ONE massage therapist. I can't recommend her enough. I had a 60 min deep tissue massage and it is now my most favorite massage experience of all time. No joke. She even threw in some reflexology on my feet which felt like a full body massage all on its own. The place is CLEAN, super clean in fact. Lovely rooms, airy, big well kept. The bathrooms are also beautiful & clean. I was the first appointment of the morning but all the candles were lit, music was on, bed was warm. Impressive. So impressive in fact that I can forgive the one wonky musical track (Arabian Dance from The Nutcracker Suite with crashing waves in the background??? WTH???) that distracted me from my massage for 2 minutes, but I had a good laugh over it so, there ya go. At checkout there were lots of really nice things for sale, but no pressure to buy which I really appreciate. Shelves were so clean and not dusty. Staff super courteous. My treatment at Oceano on Saturday was one of the best I've ever had. My therapist Katherine (Kat) was fabulous. Her work was great but what made it extra wonderful was all the little thoughtful touches she added (warm neck wrap, heated blanket because the room was chilly, frequently checking in about her pressure, the temperature, etc). It was obviously really important to her that my treatment was perfect and she succeeded...it was! So I give Kat 5 stars (10 if I could!) but my rating overall for the spa is 4 stars - only because of the facility. For a high end spa, you hope to have access to a steam room, sauna, hot tub, or at least showers as part of the experience. Oceano doesn't have any of those facilities. And the receptionist staff wasn't particularly welcoming. (The check in process and waiting room felt more like a doctor's office than a spa really). We arrived for our appointment (couples massage and lavender bath) on time and were taken to the back room. It was nice, but our appointment was at 3 and they were close to 10 minutes late taking us back (15 min. early + 10 min. late= a LOT of time to just sit around). Our masseuses arrived and took us to the massage room. The bath was very nice and definitely helps you relax prior to your massage. I had a Swedish massage and my masseuse, Stephanie, was awesome. Good pressure, didn't try to talk to much...by the end I was stifling the urge to sleep. My husband had a deep tissue massage (Ben) and his experience was...interesting. First, he talked too much (and loudly). At one point he put some oil on his hands and put them up to my husband's face (which was in the massage table) and said, "smell my fingers." WTH? Then he pretty much ignored the problem areas my husband asked him to work on; he also said that his hands were very dry most of the time and it was like sandpaper across his back. He finally ended the experience by draping a hot towel over ONE foot (??). I felt so bad for my husband, as this was a surprise and was supposed to be a relaxing experience. Oh well. I'm so happy that Travelzoo introduced me to this place. The signature treatment was fantastic, and not only that, it managed to get me out of the city. The drive down the CA 1 to Half Moon Bay was beautiful. I'll definitely be taking more excursions down to Half Moon Bay. Hopefully back to this spa as well! Normally-priced, it's a little pricey, but I think it will be well worth the treat every so often. The spa is located in a great area right by the water, with a marina, shopping, and restaurants. Parking was not a problem at all. As another reviewer had mentioned, the entrance to the spa is a little confusing. I went through the Oceano Hotel and Spa reception area and had to ask for help, but the receptionist was very courteous and directed me to a door which led into the mall (I'm glad I asked for directions because I don't think I would otherwise have found it and end up wandering the hotel lobby for hours...). The receptionist at the spa was the same one I'd arranged the appointment with. Both on the phone and in person, he was friendly, courteous, and professional. I failed to bring a printed copy of the Travelzoo voucher with me and he was beyond accommodating. We worked out how I could get them a hard copy of the voucher and I asked whether I should take care of it right away. He said not to worry about it, just relax in the waiting area and I could take care of it after everything was done. The treatment included a glass of champagne, which I'm pleased I took before the treatment (I'll explain why in a bit). I got to sip my champagne as I filled out the necessary paperwork-- which was just one page-- and wait for the masseuse. The waiting room was very nice, cushy, and clean. There were plenty of magazines and coffee table books to browse through as well, though I chose to take advantage of the free Wifi with my iPod. The masseuse arrived in a timely manner and led me to a private room which, like the waiting room, was comfortable and clean. I had initially requested medium pressure for the Swedish massage because I've never had Swedish massage before, but after the masseuse checked in with me, I requested to try firm pressure. That was much better, so in the future I won't be shy about requesting firm pressure for a Swedish massage. 30 minutes is pretty brief for a massage but this was a good intro to this style of massage. After the Swedish massage was the facial treatment. I've never had a facial before, and this was very nice. I'm not really sure what she put on my face. There was very minor tingling, but nothing bad. And then she wrapped a warm towel around my face, which was fantastic. All in all, I'm glad to have this included in this particular treatment, but I'm not sure that I would pay full price to get the facial on its own. I'm fairly satisfied with my skin, so I don't really feel the need to pay lots of money for facials that I don't necessarily need. Last was the foot treatment. It was AMAZING!!! There was a foot massage, and then she put something on my feet. I'm not sure what it was-- it kinda felt like warm petroleum jelly. It felt great though and it was even better when she wrapped my feet in warm towels. I'm fairly certain I fell asleep at this point... Definitely my favorite part of the treatment and the thing that I would certainly go back to Oceano for. I should add that for some reason the power went out in the middle of my treatment in the whole spa and the rest of the treatment was done by the light of those LED candles. The masseuse was extremely apologetic, and threw in an extra hand massage and another glass of champagne (this was why I was glad I took my glass of champagne at the beginning-- the other ladies who were there at the same time saved their champagne for the end and probably only got one glass. Sweet! Free extra champagne for me!). Quite honestly, the power outage did not detract from the experience at all, as I had my eyes closed most of the time and at some point may have actually fallen asleep. But I think that it speaks volumes about the quality of service at the spa-- that they would go out of their way to make sure your experience is worth every cent you paid and more. Just a quick update to my earlier review. I went to see Danielle for the Ocean Sea Salts manicure and pedicure and it was fabulous! Especially the pedicure. At 38 weeks preggers, getting my feet and ankles massaged with sea salts and lotions was HEAVEN. And I love that they use Sparitual polishes at Oceano - I think they're one of the safest non-toxic polishes on the market. It's good to be local when it comes to Oceano! read more

The spa was in a great location near the whale watching and hotel I stayed in for a weekend stay cation. The lobby was Mediterranean exotic with colorful satin pillows and arched architecture. The setting was peaceful. The massage was not inexpensive and wished there was a bigger relaxation lounge available to rest in and some tea service after the treatment. It felt a bit rushed. While on our romantic long weekend, the man and I wanted to get a little pampered. Lucky for us, we were staying at the Oceano Hotel (I have a review on that, too!) which is attached the shopping center where this spa is located. We had made our reservations earlier in the week for a 60 minute couples massage. We drove up the coastal way, and realized we wouldn't be making it to Half Moon Bay in time for our massages. We called a few hours before our scheduled time and they were kind enough to let us reschedule for Sunday morning without any additional fees. 1 star for that! I'll start by explaining we LOVE massages; we go to Burke Williams Santa Monica (Hey! i reviewed them, too!) whenever we can afford to, which comes out to a few times a year. So when we looked at the prices, we were pleased to see that they were comparable to what we'd expect from a quality spa. However BW does offer amenities to use (sauna, steam room, pool etc.) that Oceano spa does not have. Now, on to the experience itself. We got to the spa 10-15 minutes before our appointment (as we were told) to fill out our paperwork. We were greeted at the door and led down a hall to their lounge area. Very comfy, pillow filled nooks in the wall to sit in, water, tea & fruit offered on a nearby table. The forms were standard, and within a few minutes, our masseurs were greeting us. We had Carmina & Lillian, who guided us towards the couples room. They showed us where to place our things, instructed us on how to get under the sheets & left us to it. The room itself was dimly lit, had a HUGE brass tub in the middle - they also offer couples baths & I plan on going back just for that! Both the man & I thoroughly enjoyed our massages. We each put ours as a "top 3" experience. The ladies were very attentive, making sure the pressure was just right, focused on areas we asked for & keeping the environment calm. The tables were warmed just slightly, which was good as the room itself was a bit chilly. They had a large rug between the two tables, otherwise the floor is tile - so be prepared for that. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, Carmina & Lillian know what they're doing & for their hands alone we'd consider going back. The price is a little high, but not shockingly so. If they had groupons or living social deals I'd definitely buy a couple. read more

My husband and I came here over our anniversary weekend for a couples massage. The spa is very clean and trendy-looking. After you check in, the receptionist takes you over to a "relaxation room" where you can sip some tea while you fill out the new client forms. Once we were done with the forms, our massage therapists came to pick us up and walk us over to the massage room. Our massage therapists were Ben and Jia. They were both very friendly and attentive during our massage. I did dock one star because my husband mentioned his massage felt a little more like "poking" than a Swedish massage, but mine was very enjoyable and relaxing! Had a couples massage with my sweetie today; we started off with a soak in the big copper tub, it made me feel like a little kid to be in tub that deep, perfect for two - really great value ($25 per person). The attention to detail at Oceano is meticulous, the reception area and lounge are as clean and well-appointed as a 4star hotel, real plants (not fake ones!) in all the rooms. Nice heated treatment beds. The place was empty on Labor day, the receptionist said that was odd but it's always a nice thing at a day spa, the area is family-friendly so I can see how it could get loud. I'm really picky about where I get a pedicure, I would totally get one here, the chairs looked new and they had some fancy nail polish I have never seen before, The vibe was really nice, not too formal and no upselling or pressure to visit again. Our family decided to take a staycation in Half Moon Bay. My hubby decided to treat me to a massage and I decided to book one at Oceano. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get an appt as a walk in, but the receptionist was very accommodating and got me a massage for the next morning! My therapist was Stephanie and I got a one hour deep tissue. Now I get massages every now and then, but let me tell you...this was the BEST massage I have ever received!!! Went for a couples massage and we had a nice time. I'm sure my husband would come back ! The therapist were very nice. It was all very standard and nothing disappointing. First time I went here, the massage was amazing! I loved my therapist. Recently, I went here for a facial. The treatment was wonderful, but the only downfall was that the therapist left me in the room alone for about 5 minutes with the mask on my face. I would have expected more massage during that time, not time to lay there alone. My mom had a facial also and it sounded like her massage/facial was excellent. Next time I go, I will request her therapist. Also, the mask smelled pretty bad but it did wonders for my face! read more

This place was recommended by a friend, so I booked a couples massage for myself and my husband. I didn't even ask the price because I've had a ton of massages in the past and they're always in the same range. Not this one. But first the experience. We both asked for deep tissue but definitely didn't get it. There were times the pressure was firm, which is what I wanted, but other times it was like "what are you doing?" There was a lot of pulling and stretching of my limbs and digging into my tissue with her thumbs. Pretty sure I'll have bruises on my arms tomorrow. My husband apparently had an even worse experience than I did, said there was basically no pressure at all. So we go to pay and we're shocked to hear it was $300. For an hour. Of shitty massage. Then it was awkward that the cashier asked what gratuity we wanted to leave instead of giving the option to fill it in ourselves. I definitely do not recommend this place read more

My husband and I had a spa day and got massages and facials to celebrate our anniversary. The massage was very nice. Facials on the other hand was 'awful'. My skin was stripped off on some areas. There is no excuse for rubbing my skin raw and pieces of skin pulled out from using the foot scrub like exfoliating on the face.. it's crazy. I had to stay at home and avoid people for 2 weeks till my face could even handle plain moisturizer. I still have post marks from the facial....I don't know where these people get their training but I would think that it is commonsense to NOT use foot scrub like material on face. This was our 3rd visit to this hotel. We purposely made reservations during my birthday weekend. Our room was very nice however we encountered a lot of issues during our stay. We were not informed that construction was being done in our area of the hotel. * We should have been informed at check in which was on 01/10/2018. * Next day hammering felt like was coming through our fireplace and shaking the TV. *Husband went down to front desk to complain about the construction noise. The front desk agent apologized and offered us a free lunch which my husband declined. The agent then offered us $50 off our room. We still felt that they did not understand that we came to their hotel to relax. The front desk agent then went to his Manager in back who did not come out to apologize for these issues. Front agent offered to move us to another room which we accepted. We now had to pack up our room get a bell man to bring cart. We moved ourselves to this room which you would have thought it would be the same size which it was smaller. During the room move if we were informed that it would have been smaller we should have received a credit. Now to rest ...wrong that evening you could hear the wind blowing items on the roof which were either not secured or vents open. Customer service was not good!!! Wishing me a Happy Birthday upon departure just did not cut it. read more
