Quiet pretty rv park. The manager is so welcoming and friendly. Our spot was right next to the bathroom and laundry room. We had water and electric hook ups. We enjoyed our stay!

Just came back from a weekend at Half Moon Bay RV Park. We had a great experience staying there. Was able to pick up a cancellation and stay for my birthday which was awesome (have always wanted to RV camp in HMB and Lori made it happen!). Lori was extremely sweet on the phone & via email and gave info on what was nearby to the campground. The sites are clean and wide. Yes, it's parking lot style camping but they don't have you piled on top of each other. Yes, there are full time people camp/living there but their RVs are new, their areas are decorated super cute and kept neat and orderly. Lisa the owner made sure to come around & let us know there was a brief power outage and came back to inform us it was back up. We had a great time and now I have decided this will be my annual birthday destination. Thanks HMB RV Park, Lori and Lisa for a great experience!

Well....... How do I start? Hmmmm let me just get to the point. It's Thanksgiving Day and I come to camp here for the first time, as I am backing up my camper, I hit the water pipe/post and broke it. Water is going everywhere...... I freak out and go grab Lisa (manager) she as calm as can be starts to handle business. Lisa had to shut everyone's water off and before I know it, there six people helping me out and trying to fix the problem. As I was standing there she told me they have everything covered and go enjoy your camping in Half Moon Bay. I am happy I chose this RV park to spend our annual family Thanksgiving. Thanks Lisa for all your help and giving me a great experience........... I am also sorry about this dumb mistake I made on Thanksgiving.

Wooded area near the campsite. Trail to the ocean.

This place is well maintained and a great place to stay for short or long term. We were here with my mom's fifth wheel but we also stayed outside in the tent. The ground is all gravel or wood chips so it can be a little dusty.... The bathrooms have individual toilet/shower stalls to yourself. They're clean, but you need to bring your own body wash etc. and there is no where in the bathrooms to put your stuff down (which is always helpful). Cameron's inn is adjacent to the park and a great place to grab food and drinks, and to buy some nice British treats. There is also a great trail down to the beach that takes about 15 mins.

    The lovely private bathrooms!

It was a pleasant experience from the moment we met met our camp host, John, to the time he waved us goodbye a couple of days later. He was so helpful when we needed a little help backing into our spot and when we had trouble unhitching our Airstream. Our site was farthest away from the road next to the empty field so it was fairly quiet. The restrooms and shower facilities are new, spotless, and well-maintained (thank you - I am very particular and fussy). The site is across the beautiful marina, and a picturesque walk a block away to our favorite brewery in HMB and of course Barbara's Fish Trap. As a petite woman, I felt safe walking alone in the middle of the night to the restrooms or taking the dogs out for a potty break. It's also dog-friendly - there's an large/long area off to the side with plenty of space for them to sniff and a couple of conveniently spaced dog poop bag stations.

One coin washer and one coin dryer. Staff are helpful and cordial. Excellent location: Walking distance to restaurants, shops, Pillar Point Harbor, Hwy 1. Easy to get around town from here. Cons: Basically it's a parking lot w/ hookups. No shade, no windbreak from wind coming from NW, blowing dirt and dust from next door farmland. Spaces are short and tight. There might not be sufficient space for RV, tow vehicle, and outdoor chairs. No picnic tables, fire pits. Spaces are very close together. Road noise from Hwy 1, especially the motorcycle rallies, can be a bit much. We tuned it out. Would stay here again, due to location and convenience.

My brother has an app that follows what boats are open and offering crabs. He bought crabs there last year. It was a short drive over the hill and a beautiful Saturday. We were able to find parking in the lot by the restaurants and harbor plus it was free. We walked over to the first boat to ask how much the crabs were per pound. They were $10/lb and $8/lb if missing a claw. He showed us some crabs and we said we'd come down. There were several boats out there with Crabs signs as well as Ling Cod signs. We talked to the gentleman whose boat is called "Drake". He weighed out 3 for us and put them in a plastic bag. I asked how far he goes out and he said 20 miles. When he first started a few weeks ago, crabs were 20+ per basket. Now it's down to 5-8/basket. He said he'll still come out to sell crabs. My brother had a thicker plastic bag that he put the crabs in and put it in the cooler in the car so we could check out the other boats. We were looking for Salmon and found another boat that was selling flash-frozen Alaskan Coho Salmon. There were a few men on the boat answering my questions and making suggestions on how to cook the fish. The fish is caught in Alaska, flash frozen then I believe the gentleman said dipped in the ocean water(?) to create a glaze to preserve the fish further as it's stored in the cooler. When you flash-freeze the fish, any parasites will die. You can safely eat the fish as Sashimi or cooked and when cooked, watch the fish as it's so tender, it doesn't need a lengthy amount of time. He suggested pan-frying so we did just that with the fillets after thawing the whole fish in the cooler full of ice for 2 days. We had cut the fish into fillets and finished them with a Teriyaki/Mirin glaze and Baby Bok Choy on the side. It was so tender and soft and the meat was such a deep orange! What a superior variety! Oh and our fish was about 2 pounds@$20/lb. It was so worth it for the quality and amount as we had enough for another meal! I asked for the name of the boats and they said look for New Day and Dream Catcher. Took a photo of the phone number in case we have questions. When we got home we cooked the Dungeness Crabs and the meat was so fresh, tender and flavorful. Definitely a treat!!

The southerly end is at the Cowell Ranch Trail in HMB and runs all the way north to Dardanelle Trail in Moss Beach. The Good: *Great views *Easy flat to moderate trails *Trails are mostly AC with some compact dirt, as well, and they are mostly in good to great shape. *Bike, dog, & horse friendly *Multiple beach access *Lots of different (free) parking lots up and down the coast The Meh: *Little to no shade for most of the trail. This isn't really a big deal, as HMB is almost always cloudy, foggy, and cold--but there's always a few days a year where it can get into the 80s and low 90s. The Ugly: *Some of the lots do require payment, so be sure to check signage before parking. Oh, and in case you're wondering, they most definitely *DO* enforce parking. He giggled and said well you can mix it up and make your own. We requested bread usually they do have bread Service. It took him after. I reminded him two times halfway through our dinner to bring it out. I ordered the half chicken and that was actually delicious. We also ordered crabcakes. I will state a few things before this visit. We checked out reviews, videos and called before booking. We also came after hours and the completed checked in by phone to advise of our late check in. We were able to find our spot immediately when we arrived. The Sf rv is older and has basic amenities of a heated pool, laundry on site facility and on staff day management M-Su. There are long term tenants at this location mixed with Thousand Trails members and public bookings. This is a older resort with limited space in each site and it can be a tight squeeze due to the size of someone's rv or trailer. People keep to themselves and it's pretty low key. You can walk right out to the gated fence to see the ocean and smell the sweet breeze. You are right off the freeway HWY 1, next to a grocery store and several restaurants. Management was extremely attentive and always smiled and checked in on us. I forgot her name she worked the weekend of our stay, she gave great recommendations for Pacifica and beaches to take our little one, we took her up on a suggestion of Pacifica State Beach. We will definitely be back to visit this summer because we have a Trails membership and it is close to SF and the beaches. We deducted a star as they do not have the open recreation room as it was closed due to repair with no estimate date to reopen. They removed the child play structure.
