Karaoke on Friday/Saturday evening made for a fun time. Took May grandson out biking and the access to trails coastside avoiding any need to be near a road was a super plus. The location is great, near downtown and close to everything you need like shops, grocery stores and gas stations. The bike trails that lead to the ocean from the RV Park are INCREDIBLE, we went on bike rides everyday! Side note: I grew up in Half Moon Bay, our family currently doesn't live here anymore but I have a long history with the town and the people who live there. Secondly, At the end of our families stay, we were informed by the park that they were getting complaints about our children... saying they were being too loud, people would occasionally hear them crying, we were playing music (during the day) and they could hear our kids running around inside the trailer.... Our children are 4 and 1 years old.... They were being KIDS!! So someone near us, was that bothered by our children, they had to make a huge deal about it and report us to the front office... My husband has not lived at home in almost 4 years due to his job so when my children and I would come see my husband it was for a week at a time, and that is the ONLY time we get to see him. We have to travel to him, otherwise we don't get to see him AT ALL. I understand nobody knows our situation, which we dont expect people too, but it also made us feel extremely unwelcome after that phone call we received, it made us feel extremely uncomfortable and we felt like we were now being watched because our kids had a couple "bad days". Being from Half Moon Bay, I took this news extremely personal, it made us feel like we were getting "kicked out" or "warned" that if it didn't change, they were going to ask us to leave. All because someone can't handle children being children. My husband has lived in 8 different trailer parks all up and down California and Nevada the last 4 years and we have NEVER had complaints towards our family. There are a ton of retired, working and older tenants who live there full time and apparently some forget what it's like to have kids, or they've never had kids themselves. Unfortunately, we did decide to leave the park. At that time my husband had already lived there full time for over 3 months. My husband was not comfortable having us come visit him if we felt unwelcome and felt like we were going to be watched each time we came. Especially telling our children they can't be themselves while they're there because some people have issues with kids. We genuinely enjoyed our stay there, we had such a great time creating memories as a family, until we didn't. I do recommend staying here if your doing a short term stays because you're gone in a few days so it's not enough time to create an issue, but if you have children and are looking for a long term place, I would not recommend it unless you "KEEP THEM ON A TIGHT LEASH" which is what was told to our new tenant by the park when moving in. And to the front office, I did not create this post to have you reply or feel like you need to "stick up" for your RV Park, it's a GREAT park, I just don't think it's GREAT for children which is the focus of my posting. Thank you for allowing us to stay there for the time we did, but it was time for us to go.

Camping in this entire region is permitted only in one place: the tiny Black Mountain Backpack Camp inside the Monte Bello Open Space Preserve (http://www.yelp.com/biz/monte-bello-open-space-preserve-palo-alto). As its name suggests, the campground is for backpackers, not car camping. The campground is located near Monte Bello Road, a private road NOT accessible to the public. Campers must park at the Monte Bello parking lot along Page Mill Road and hike 1.5 miles to the campground. GROUNDS: ----------------------- There are four small sites, each holding up to 4 people, and a group site holding up to 24 people. The small sites are not too far from each other, so you will see your neighbors and hear them if they're being loud. Each site is equipped with some log benches and a metal storage cabinet (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/8ZJwH7RguXoX8AuXxg0v7A?select=D8bB77SslqXM1exZtSh46Q#i4QSgahOeE5tNAG1fqYj6A). Permit applications should be submitted at least a week in advance, and site availability can be checked online. VERDICT: ----------------------- The Black Mountain Backpack Camp is a pretty basic and small site, but it's got the advantage of being dirt-cheap and conveniently close to cities in the South Bay Area. The campsites were really nice. Each one has a triangle of bench logs, a small round cement camp table, and all of them spend some time in the shade over the course of the day, so no need to worry about cooking in the sun. There is also room for hammocks at sites 1, 3, and 4. (No nearby trees for #2) FYI: Our site, #3, had some carpenter ants come out at night from the logs and they bite so you (and your butt) beware. Also, there's a fair amount of gnats and mosquitoes on a summer night, so repellent with deet is in order (Just so you know, the new deet free repellents DO NOT repel gnats.) The 4 campsites also leave you a short walk from the perfect view of both the sunrise over Black Mountain and the sunset to the west. The best part? The park rangers!!! The absolute nicest people in uniform you will EVER meet. They stop by to check on you, make sure you didn't forget anything, and even have junior ranger stickers for the kids. Really makes for a well rounded experience and a safe family-friendly environment. My one complaint, though not worthy of losing a star, is the bathroom was pretty rank. It was clean for the most part but the urine order was pretty stifling. It probably could use some charcoal or deodorizer poured down the pit once in a while to knock down the odor. Even a bag of potting soil would work wonders, but it didn't take away from our weekend, nor will it prevent us from returning.

You can reach it either by the PCT or Glenwood Camp Road. There is an interesting little cabin at the campground. It snows during the season and when there is enough rain. I believe there are 4 usable spots for camping, I happen to use 1 to set up my Tarp and my buddies Tent. I have only seen the club at the cabin once in all the times I have visited and I asked for permission to stay. This is a cool spot and I recommend staying overnight! Clean floors, big bathroom, huge indoor space. The outdoor patio was perfect for our small doggies. The views and quiet were immediate stress-reducers. This room is the ground floor end unit and has a large field to the right so it feels very private. Within walking distance to Jetty wave distillery that is a cute outdoor space if you have dogs. It was fine to stop in for a drink and a bite or a small plate. Walking distance to Barbara's fish trap and all the marina restaurants. Close to the paved walking path that will take you down hwy1 through more gorgeous views and access to the beach. The location really can be beat! I highly recommend, especially if traveling with dogs. Note: The Jetty room (other ground floor end unit) shares an outdoor fence between the common area and fire pit.

Got a text moments later: "They found it, accidentally washed it, then threw it away. Sorry." What's the point of having a lost and found if you're going to throw something BRAND NEW away? WTF? I'm pretty sure someone picked themselves up a lovely little nightie. And FFS if you're going to lie, lie the right way by saying you never saw it.
