Great place to buy required school reading, books your kids will only read once, and those older BOTM books that you wanted to add but didn't want to pay for. There's A LOT of them here! Overall the layout makes sense and it's easier for me to bring the kids here than pay full price at B&N down the street and the experience is pretty comparable. I also like that you can call them and ask that they hold a book for you- great for Moms running low on time who need to get a book for their kids school project or required reading (speaking from experience here). The only con I will mention is what others have mentioned as well. Don't come here with books to sell assuming you'll get a lot of money for them. Come here with the books you were going to donate anyways. I do wish they had a better trade in program. read more

They had an ample supply of books but their stocked items included Albums,,toys, DVDs, video cassettes and much more. They also have vinyls, cd's and dvds. I purchased two books and I could not believe the price. Great place to get a variety of books. Got books for my granddaughter and my daughters wedding.

I haven't been able to come here since Cobb Transit cut the #65 bus. There are disabled and/or elderly persons who depend on transit to go to school, shop for groceries, work, etc. (They don't "have Mummy, Daddy, or anyone to drive them around anymore"). I loved this place and used to here and Trade Joe's quite a bit since I graduated from GSU in '87 with a BA in Art. Not everyone who rides public transit is a thief trouble-maker, or homeless. read more

If you're looking for a place to buy cheap books, movies, or music records, this is a good place for you. For those of you who aren't familiar with this string of stores, Half-Price Books is known for selling used books, movies, and other written works, at half the price, giving buyers the chance to get their hands on a book for a discounted price. The Half-Price Books company is a family-owned company so the staff is usually pretty nice and quick to assist you if help is needed. Although they sell both used and NEW books the majority of what's on the shelves are used books. Because of this, some of the books have shown some wear and tear on them, and the movies sometimes have scratches on the discs which cause problems when watching it. Even though I highly recommend this store for anyone just trying to just find a cheap book, if you are wanting new and good quality books I suggest you look elsewhere. Other than that, this store is fairly decent besides the wore down books, and I highly suggest going here even if it's just to take a look. read more

I LOVE Half Price Books! This location specifically has great service every time and a good layout. At Half Price Books, you can purchase various (mostly used but some are new) books, DVDs, CDs, records, comic books, games, and multitude of other bookstore type items at a discounted rate. I have been going to this location for years and have taken many friends here. The prices are fair based on the quality and quantity of the book and they have all of the genres and cater to ever age group. My friend's kids loved picking out books from the children section while my friend picked out a game. I usually buy books and DVD's from here and have been able to finish personal collections which finds from here. As for the selling process, it is pretty straightforward. You just need your ID to be able to sell and they will assess your items and tell you over the loudspeaker when your offer is ready. You can use the money they offer you on the items towards your in store purchase or cash out. I totally recommend visiting Half Price Books if you have never been to one! read more

The positives: This location is well organized for a used bookstore. It's well-lit, well-marked, and easy to navigate. It's clear where you take your items to sell when you enter. They call your name over the intercom when your books, LPs, DVDs, have been evaluated and they have an offer for you. The prices are competitive with other used bookstores. I bought 3 books that I checked against Amazon's listings they were able to beat Amazon's price on these books. Check-out was quick and the staff member at the register was very nice. They appeared to have a good selection of LPs, DVDs, and Manga. The not-so-positives: As another reviewer noted, you do not get much on your books. Don't be surprised by how little they offer. Also, they do not give you a better deal in trade because they don't do trade-ins, only cash. Maybe it was just a bad day but no one greeted me when I came into the store. The staff member I dealt with at the desk seemed like she had better things to do. I've been spoiled by my experiences at other used bookstores where the staff acts like they are pleased to have your business. Takeaway: Good place to look for used books, LP, 45s, DVDs, Manga, Books on CD, etc. but scores below average on giving you a good return on those items when you bring them in to sell. This store seemed bigger than other HPB I have been to in the past. The service was super helpful (thanks specifically to Dylan) to find one book I wanted and they offered to order a second I was looking for from a store out of state. My reason for three stars are not the selection (which is quite good) but how there are too many sections, done by author and some by title that make finding what you are specifically looking for incredibly challenging. On the flip side, this is great when you are browsing for a specific type like evolution or Catholicism or Russia, etc etc etc. I will be back. read more

We've just been twice but I'm itching for a return visit. I didn't know of this bookstore's existence until I came for my last meals at Common Quarter (the space in which Muss & Turner's is now residing--it all stayed in the restaurant family). Anyway, there is a fantastic selection of all kinds of books here. My favorite genre of fantasy is in the center towards the front, which is perfect for me. Sci-fi also lives next-door, so AT and I spend the bulk of our time in this area of Half Price Books. There is a mix of used and new books and the used ones that I saw were priced well and in great condition. I found some fantasy books that I usually have a hard time locating in other metro Atlanta used bookstores, which was exciting. We noticed that the cookbook section is also well-stocked. If you are a close friend and have been to our home, you know that AT and I have a little home library and our shelves are filled to maximum capacity. Right now, we're in a small place and really can't add more bookcases, so we're taking it easy with the book purchases. Visited this location earlier today and I was very impressed. This is the first time I've visited a Half Price books location, and I'll be back again. Prices are fairly average from what I've seen offered elsewhere. They're a buck or two cheaper than the local independent book shops, but still can't touch the price at a thrift store. Still, you can find gems. I got a couple copies of books I've been trying to find for months at a very good price here, and while they were "used" they look like they haven't been opened in their lives. The clearance section was surprisingly good as well. A lot of popular books, likely a result of their buy-back program, but these books end up being $2-3 for a Like New hardcover. You can't beat it. While some people might complain about the price they offer for buy back, I have to say they are fair. This location not only has to buy the book back, they need to turn it around for a profit. Your books don't cost as much as you think they cost, especially when they might be taking up real estate on a shelf somewhere for the next two years before someone finds it interesting enough to buy. You're also under no obligation to sell to them if they give you a price you find unfair. Just use eBay if you're so sure your collection is worth a small fortune. In any case, I recommend this location, and will be back again. read more

I went to my local Half Price Books in Marietta last week. I am disabled and unable to wear a mask due to a condition which makes me pass out. My doctor has told me not to wear them again. My wife and I went in and she was wearing a mask. I was kicked out and rather than listen to me about my condition the manager told me how they were ADA compliant and to leave. As a disabled person if I can't go into a store due to my disability that makes the store non compliant with ADA. When I made a complaint to their corporate office they ignored my disability and complaint entirely and just focused on store policy for masks. Needless to say, though I've shopped there for years and spent several thousand dollars there, I won't be shopping there again. read more

I love this store! I regularly take my used books here to sell, and I always walk out with at least $25 cash in my pocket! The other reviewers complaining about their earnings are probably taking dusty, yellowed books from their basements and wondering why they don't get top dollar lol. Their buying process is speedy and efficient, I use that time to shop the store. I always find at least one book I need and usually some notecards too, they have a nice selection. My kids love to go here to buy vinyl records. They also have a few interesting gift items, the kind of thing you don't see anywhere else. Staff is helpful and pleasant. After we shop, we go across the parking lot to Starbucks and get drinks-nice outing with my kids! read more

When I first moved to this area 8 years ago there were used books stores all over! One by one they have been closing. Luckily Half Price is still going strong at two locations. The Marietta location is huge- having not just books, but CDs, puzzles, misc. at great prices. I always call HPB first to get my book club selections. They have their inventory computerized, but they will go and physically pull it out of the stacks quickly while you're on hold. Nothing is more annoying than driving to a place a to pick up an item and have them say "Sorry They will also quickly transfer books between stores if one is better for you. Prices are usually very reasonable. I have not sold any books to them so I can't review how they are on that. read more

Don't take your books, CDs, etc to sell here. They give you pennies for your stuff. You would be better off donating and taking the tax deduction. Really. I took a bunch of great books; mostly hard bound, good condition. They gave me $10 for all. I was shocked and let them know it too. I will not be back to sell. Had to browse while waiting and the books, CDs, etc for sale were good prices. I would go back to buy if it was closer to me. read more

But I do agree with other comments ive shopped here many times and sometimes the service is good and other times you have people who completely ignore you that work at the front. Also customer service over the phone is terrible.
