Customer service was polite. Huge store selling books, games, toys, art kits, candy. They also purchase these things. I dropped off few movie CDs, pack of Dale Erhardt cards. I really didn't expect much. However, I left my items and they gave me a receipt, and promised to text me when the evaluation was done. My ID was checked many times So they did text me. Since I wanted cash and no store credit I earned $1.97 instead of $3.54. What I learned from this is, that bartering might work for some people, if they are trading in things. This is not for me. I usually come here to shop and decided to sell with them for their buyback program. I just have to suggest that if you are looking to get decent amount of anything for your items be aware that they do not give you a lot. I sold over 3 bins of items to them. Not only did they not state how long it would take but the girl checking me just to the buying was not very kind. She seemed annoyed to be there. Both me and my family member dropped off our items 6 minutes after they opened and made plans to do things in the area thinking it wouldn't take long. We were in the area for a good while and my family member received a text that their items were ready. I believed that mine would soon be done to follow. A few more hours passed and I still didn't get a text so I called in to check. I was extremely disappointed when I was told that my buy hadn't been started. They stated it was because they were busy. Although, when I questioned if they were busy how were they able to finish my family members buy so quickly. They didn't have a response for me other than they had other buys from the day before that they had to finish. I still don't understand how my family members stuff still got finished if that was the reason. When I asked how much longer it would take they couldn't give me an answer. I do not live close so this was extremely upsetting for me because if they had a lot left over from the day before it should've been stated when I dropped it off. About two hours before closing I got my text so I had to drive and pick up my stuff. Once I arrived I was told I was getting a very small amount for items that were in brand new condition or to get 50% more value if I chose store credit. I really wish they updated their system and valued the items at a higher price point and not such a drastic change from cash to store credit. I only came here and settled for the cash because I am clearing up space for a move. If you want what your items are valued don't ever come here. read more

So done with this place. Brought in a full bin of gardening and knitting books and was immediately told "they wouldn't get to it for an hour to an hour and a half." Did d some shopping and 20 minutes later got a text that my "offer" was ready... 35 cents cash or 90 cents store credit! Their offers have steadily been going down over the years while their prices have gone up. From now on my books will go to a philanthropic organization where at least I can hope that someone can use them. read more

I have passed by this place many times but walked in for the first time on a Saturday while meeting up with a friend at the connected Starbucks. I love to write and was excited to see a whole section full of cute journals when I walked in. In front of the store, they had books about astrology, crystals, the occult, and all sorts of things about magic. I saw crystals, jewelry, and sage that one can purchase to go along with the reading material offered. There was an area that had t shirts with sayings as well. You can buy, sell, or trade books, records, cds, video games DVD's basically most things people no longer use anymore, thanks to technology. It is a fun place to bring the kids. They also offer a lot of cool little toys and games. Overall, I like what this store has to offer. This place is a perfect mecca of thrift and Barnes & nobles vibe. It has it all, books, movies, CDs, boardgames, and gaming! There are a lot of other knick knacks too, such as buying unsorted Legos by the bulk. Books? They got it, I can't confirm if they had used ones, but I'm sure they do. I was looking for "Alice in Borderlands" manga, but unfortunately they didn't have #1. Oh well, but the staff was friendly enough to help me look for it. Movies, they got a lot, my only gripe, they were separated by only a handful of categories. It can feel a bit overwhelming when all the titles are just merged together. I ended up getting a combo DVD, "Get Shorty/Be Cool" CD's and Vinyls, there were a lot of shuffle through, but one cd caught my eye. A Robert Downey Jr album. Yeah that's right Mista Iron Man himself made an album. I was tempted to grab it, but was hesitant, so I said I'll come back for it later. They have a really good collection of gaming and accessories. All sorts of formats, from new to old. I was browsing some GB and DS games, when I kid came next to me and was looking in the same area. The parent told the kid to choose a game from this area and the kid was like okay. So I'm glad someone is still showing their the kid was of used gaming and Nintendo. I found a GB game "Baseball," I used to play this when I was wee youngin'. It was only $5. They even had retro accessories, like a SNES turbo controller to Sing Star Mics. At this point it's been close to 2 hours, it was time to wrap it up. I circled back to that RDJ album, and to my surprise, it was gone! How did I miss out on the grand epicness? Yes I could've gotten it online, such as eBay or streaming. But I wanted it then and now. I guess I didn't want it that bad since I didn't grab it the first go around. Overall, I would come back, over and over again. A few years has changed it, since the Masters has bought the property the store sits on, other neighboring stores have closed their doors and 2nd is still open, for now. They are doing various close outs and emptying their fixtures, but you can still buy bestsellers and new or on trend items. I always love a 2nd and Charles experience. My favorite part is going with a friend and pointing out all the books I've read. I enjoy that it's not just books, too, but also lots of games, music, puzzles, toys, and more. I found some Switch games and some board games to play with friends in addition to some books I've been wanting to add to my TBR. The prices are very reasonable, and I like being able to support the environment by buying secondhand. The staff has always been friendly if I've been searching for something specific. This 2nd & Charles is located on the corner of Barret Parkway and Home Center Drive. 2nd & Charles is one of those "Buy, Sell or Trade" stores where you can take your used vinyl's, games, movies, books, etc...and trade them in for store credit or other merch, or you can simply sell them to the store. Keep in mind that they won't take everything you have, if they have too many copies already or it's just not worth anything, they will politely give it back to you. In that case, you can always donate to their free bins which are placed in the front near the service counter. Also, you can expect more on store credit than cash! While I am not a big gamer, reader, collector or really a participant in anything that would make me a target customer for this place, I have ventured in to trade items in and do some shopping for the gamers and collectors in my life. In addition to their massive selection of books, games, collectable and vinyl's, they are a stellar spot to scoop up a cool toy for the kiddos. 2nd & Charles is usually on my shopping spot list for the holidays as I can always find something for my nephews here! You would think with so many items in the store that it would be cramped and disorganized, however this location is always kept in great shape, is well organized and is always clean. This store 2nd & Charles is so cool. The wide variety of things they have in store, could literally keep you there for an hour, and you wouldn't even be aware of the time that's passed. I picked up a well priced used game system around Christmas, for which they offered a 90 day return policy if I wasn't happy with the purchase. Yesterday, I really needed some new guitar picks, so I stopped by. I remembered when I was there last, that they had an entire wall of pre-owned guitars and other musical instruments, so I thought maybe they'd have some picks. They do. They sell little pouches of about 10 picks with some really cool bands logos on them. Definitely more than pleased. 2nd and Charles is a used bookstore that also has a great selection of toys, gifts, plush toys, and other novelty items. It's a place I am happy to direct deposit my paycheck any day... Their book selection is vast and varied. They have the standard John Grisham to books related to the Lincoln assassination...Yes you read that right...Lincoln and not Kennedy...although they have plenty of that as well. I saw a book on the history of the ancient Druids and a book on animal communication. There is a Starbucks located next door and there is a connecting door to the left of the building. The parking towards the front of the building is chaotic as you have traffic coming in from both the drive thru at Starbucks, those turning in from Barrett Parkway and the ones already in the parking lot. On the weekends it's a bit of a challenge not only to weave in and out of but to finding a spot. 2nd Charles in Jacksonville FL. "SUCKS!" The young Female Manager took offense to the way I talked to her because she was hassling my husband ( Who had Cancer) and not being very helpful and understanding. So I spoke up to her and she not only yelled back at me but, put another person at the register to help my husband and took off to talk with someone else. On top of that; They short changed us on the books we turned in that day as punishment to me. I am a retired person who is making an effort to clear out my household books that I read, (all in A-1 Condition) and not getting any respect from this new "Generation of Management!" I will never shop there again, poor management is a tie breaker for me... plus I'm a Widow now and can't afford to use gas from FL. To Ga both ways, just to be hassled. I brought an AKAI MPC to them that is an excellent band and studio instrument for any type of music and is used for recording music. After I bought it in I was asked "how much it was worth"? It was well over $600 and i told them the price. On the internet it was worth $550 in so-so condition. Mine was in excellent condition and had 3,000 samples on it. They made me weight for almost 1.5 hours to offer me $150 dollars. Nevertheless I said no and left. The person whom look at was not a musician or experienced sound engineer. Expect nothing.... We sorted through 100's of books and picked out the very best. No paperbacks, no Cookbooks, etc. Three piles: Sell, Donate, Toss. We sold the antique books and took @ 70 "Current Author" fiction to 2nd & Charles. They offered $15- which upon signing the agreement I was informed was "House Cash". We got $7.70, about 10-12 cents a book. We paid more in gas to go there. Save time and gas and donate to a worthy cause. read more

It's a fun place. They have all kinds of neat stuff. The used stuff comes at excellent prices. They have a few new things, and those items are standard retail cost, so nothing to get excited about there. The store is well laid out with clear signage. Staff are excellent; the woman who helped me hunted down numerous books for me. There used to be a few spots to sit and read, but those are gone. There is a Starbucks adjoining where I reckon you could sit and read. The only reason they didn't get the fifth star is the buying program is horrible. You gets cents on the dollar. I turned in maybe thirty DVDs and got a whopping seven dollars back. Never sell your stuff here. You'll do better on ebay or a pawn shop. Long & short: are you selling? Go elsewhere. Are you buying? 2nd & Charles is my go to bookstore. You can find fantastic pre-owned books in excellent condition, and score incredible sales on clearance books. It's fun to catch a "buy 5 get 5 free" deal. I love all the tables with staff recommendations and genre groupings scattered around the store. For movies, however, I don't recommend this place. The pricing isn't consistent. I've seen new movies priced lower than used movies, and I've found almost every movie I wanted significantly cheaper on Amazon. I like supporting local businesses, but I can't just throw money away on a used movie that's cheaper new on Amazon. read more

They tried to offer me $2 for an easy $100-150 worth of popular merchandise, two of which were rare pieces. If you're going to look around, however, you'll for sure end up buying. They have an impressive array of... pretty much everything. Older, out of production consoles, clearanced books, even odd candies from overseas. The store is also organized in a very easy to navigate way. Long story short, don't waste the gas if you're going only to resell stuff, but if you're looking to buy some BOGO books, this is the place for you. read more

I purchased two mini backpacks online. I received a note from USPS that $47.50 was owed before the package could be delivered. I contacted USPS and was told it's a scam some companies have been doing to save on shipping and handling. They reprint labels and I was the victim of this. I contacted customer service and they expected me to ship it back before I could get a refund. I ordered it in July 7 it's now August 22. I had to email customer service asking why my refund was being held hostage since I couldn't ship it back because I never received it. They finally sent me an email stating they would give me a partial refund, but not the full refund because I should have picked it up from the post office. This is the first and last time I order anything from 2nd and Charles. read more

Since moving to Atlanta, driving 2.5 hours to peruse through the store was probably not the best way for me to utilize my time. Off to the internet I go and I found out that there was a 2nd and Charles in Kennesaw! We stopped by on a late Saturday afternoon. There was plenty of parking which was awesome. This 2nd and Charles location is a lot larger than the one I'm use to, so we probably spent about 1.5-2 hours just wandering through the store. The location had a lot more new products, so there wasn't a huge discount/deal. Lots of vinyls if you're into that and plenty of movies and dvds. We tried selling back some books and games, but the wait was going to be 4.5 hours and didn't want to stick around the area to wait it out. The biggest con is the lack of cell phone service. I had to connect to the Starbucks wifi to get a signal. read more

The Southeastern equivalent of a Half-Price Books. They sell used books, video games, board games, music, and collectibles. They're range of prices is very good: You can pick up a hardcover edition of a classic for $15 or a paperback version for $1.85, with all price points in between. They have copies of Horizon Zero Dawn for PS4 for 10 bucks. Their selection is big, although I do knock one star for a certain lack of organization. It's overwhelming to navigate at first, and the signs are very small. But overall a great bookstore and one I'll be coming back to soon. There are no other bookstores like this one in metro Atlanta and while I am close to 285 (more on the Perimeter than outside), I make a trip up to Kennesaw about once a month to once every 6 weeks to see what treasures 2nd & Charles has. I have visited other used bookstores closer to the city proper but none can compete with the selection you find here. If you love books, I highly suggest you make the trip. I got 2 hardcover, 1st edition Harry Potter books with in very good to like new condition for $5-6. Yes, I got into Harry Potter over a decade late but I'm rebellious like that and always want to do what nobody else is doing and never want to do what everybody else is in to. Besides books (both new and used--children's, young adult, classics, non-fiction and fiction of all sorts, graphic novels, and comics), you'll find CDs, vinyls, video games, board games, fun t-shirts, and other gag gifts here. The board game selection is pretty varied and gives me ideas for some I want to get in the future. This place is awesome and always has something different every time I go. read more

THE place for used media in OTP. Also a reasonable place to off-load your old media and some electronics and get something of value. Not a lot mind you, but that is just the nature of the biz. Place is huge, which is both a plus and a minus. A plus in that if you look long enough, you WILL find something to geek out over. A minus in that all the space is a time sink and, I think, has given the store a false sense of organization. Too much stuff is not alphabetized correctly, which I am certain is a full-time battle, but it is also the only sure way of finding things. Also, the really cool CDs and games -- one-off collabs or other rarities -- are only OK price-wise. You'll bite for the must-haves, but there is big difference between spending $5 for a weird soundtrack version of a song and $2. I blame eBay as "ask" prices somehow set the market, even if stuff never moves. Exception seems to be comics, which to my eye seemed to be priced to move at this store. Oh, and books? A billion of them too. In sum, the kinda place that you want to visit regularly, particularly if you are searching for a specific out-of-circulation something and generally dig pop culture oddities, and don't mind just browsing and leaving empty-handed. read more
