This is a great spot if you're looking for authentic Greek food that is fresh, delicious, and served in generous portions. We ordered the gyro platter and chicken souvlaki platter and were amazed at how much meat and pita came with the dishes. We definitely needed more tzatziki, so be sure to ask for extra. We also ordered their cheese platter, which also boasted a big portion. We're still eating cheese two days later! We ordered takeout so I can't comment on the service and dining experience. We ate in on a Friday night. Not the best service. The owner(Im assuming) was talking so much to his waitress about finances, credit cards, and the like that she wasn't really learning how to be a good waitress. However, she was super sweet and polite when serving and taking order. The humus was good and plentiful. The swarma chicken was dry as mentioned in other reviews. My partner and I went to Village Mediterranean one evening after our Costco run. I've been there plenty of times when it was being run by the previous owners and I knew it was a solid bet. I wasn't sure what to expect when I realized there was a new owner. We were tired and hungry so decided to stay. We were the only ones there and asked if we could eat in. A gentleman walked over to the register and replied of course. If you guessed he was the new owner, you'd be correct. He ended up serving us, and because I've somehow grown up to be that person who talks to the people, I asked a lot of questions. I'm sorry o don't remember his name, but he was very genuine and gracious. He's been redoing the restaurant gradually himself, while also cooking and doing all the other tasks necessary to run a new restaurant. Onto the food. We ordered a lot of it and it was all delicious. Fresh, seasoned well, and exactly as described in the menu. We started with some dips served with fresh pita and the dolmades. I then had the chicken gyro while my partner enjoyed the chicken shawarma platter. We opted for the Greek fries and the Greek potatoes as our sides. Suffice it to say we were eating of each other's plates. The flavors were bright and tasty. The potatoes were really out of this world. I really enjoyed my gyro, but the chicken shawarma seasoning was spectacular! The restaurant itself is also very welcoming with art by local artists on the wall, and for sale. Love going here, not just for the food but for their little grocery section also. The people that work there are delightful. I love the bean soup, it's so filling. Their Greek salad is one of the best I've ever had. My go to place for gyro's, the meat is always fresh and tender, pita always warm & delicious. This is a cute little sit down restaurant. We normally eat in, but this time we did take out. Food was tasty as always and the owner there is very nice. Reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is because the place is a little pricey (e.g. we ordered two apps... the total was around $40). However, the portions were great and there are other apps that are cheaper. I just wish they had small portion options for some of their food / lunch menu options so I could get less food but for more of an affordable price. read more

Expectations high, but food just OK. I went to get a generic bottle of water (brand x) to drink while waiting for my order. They charged 3.85 for that small bottle! I felt absolutely stabbed, and the soke reason while I won't be back. That exact same bottle in WaWa is less than a dollar. I hate being ripped off, so Village Gyro is now dead to me. read more

Our daughter told us about this place awhile back and boy are we glad that we finally decided to stop in (and mad at ourselves for not getting here sooner). Omg i love their gyros, could eat it every day. If you are really hungry get the platter with fries, has those crinkly fries we grew up with and they are so crunchy...yummy. I love anything spicy too, but I suggest passing when they ask if you want it spicy, takes away from the gyro honestly. This is a really cute place where you can sit to eat and browse their store for authentic Greek foods. I usually get food to go but worth noting you can dine in. There are also outdoor tables id the weather plays nice. They also have lots of delicious looking homemade sweets in the front, hard to resist. Babaghanoush, Tzatziki, and hummus are the stars of this place. I will go to the end of the Earth to have their babaghanoush. Their kebabs are great. Chicken is nice and tender. Their Dolmas are super tender, with a nice lemon taste. I mean I could have a whole meal on just the sides, but they're entrées are excellent too. I can't say enough good things about this place. My sister turned me onto it and I am indebted to her for that. Service is excellent and very friendly. small place with not many tables which is fine. It keeps the crowd down. It's been a while since I've enjoyed a genuine Greek meal in an authentic atmosphere, cooked and served by natives of the Aegean who care deeply about preparing wonderous dishes that tickle the palette. Village Gyro & Mediterranean Grill does all that with bells on. We found ourselves in Flemington recently shopping the outlets in Liberty Village and decided to eat dinner before driving home. Yelp pointed to this small kitchen in a nearby commercial strip. Arriving, we found it mid building. Inside were a deli/kitchen, pergola dining space and rear market with olive oil and other delicacies. We took a table in the front window and promptly met our hostess with menus in hand and deep Greek accent. Moussaka dinner and Gyro Sandwich were selected. The Moussaka was a large square of eggplant layered ground beef, tomato sauce and creamy helping of bechamel sauce throughout. Delicious. The Gyro was a blend of beef/lamb with spices, tomato, cucumber, red onion, lettuce, feta crumbles and tzatziki, wrapped in a thick pita, and again in sandwich paper and foil. Also great. The side of fries were crisp and hot. We could finish either plate, and took home the rest for later enjoyment. The atmosphere helped persuade that we were on a patio under grape arbor overlooking the port of Piraeus. Nearly a perfect interlude. PS. The baklava was amazing! read more

I'm extremely disappointed with the way the cashier treated me and my family. I walked in here for dinner and asked for a table for 4. She looked at my family and I saw a huge eye roll because we are non-Caucasians. Extremely unfriendly with an attitude. YUM-OH! I love me the Greek cuisine and Village Gyro delivered and then some!!! My review is for a catered dinner so 4 stars- But we all know it will be a 5 Star review once I head back and do the dine in and deli deal. First I have to say those stuffed grape leaves were exceptional, I love that with just a little extra squeeze of lemon it just makes all the flavors pop!! The roasted chicken was juicy, seasoned perfectly and the skin was crispy, exactly as it should be. Spanakopita which is spinach & feta in phyllo- Phenomenal, I would have had more but it was all gone, so for sure on my "dine in" visit- I'm ordering it! I tried the Village Mix Salad, I enjoy beets on salads and this salad had a fresh and springy (is springy that even a word?) of beets, potatoes, tomatoes & onions tossed with E.V.O.O. & vinegar, tasty and light, I would def order this again and the traditional Greek Salad with crispy lettuce, ripe red fresh tomatoes, cucumber, onions, olives and nice chunks of feta cheese was spot on. What would this meal be without plenty of Tzatziki a creamy blend of yogurt, cucumber, garlic & mint served as a dip & hummus also a blended dip of chick peas, olive oil & lemon served with warm pita bread, it just rounded out the whole meal. I recently moved into the Flemington area and discovered this wonderful establishment! I hadn't enjoyed a gyros sandwich or platter in years as I hadn't come across any good options until now. Village Gyros--thank you for taking me back to my younger days! I was taken back to my youth with the very first bite of the gyros platter--meat was well seasoned, the tzatziki was delish--whole meal on point. I've gone twice recently and there seems to be a hefty crowd in the place and it's hoppin! The desserts look fantabulous and can't wait to try the baklava. I was shocked that lunch for 2 people with no soup, appetizers or dessert cost $40! (Gyro sandwich only, Greek salad w/ meat, coffee, water & Fanta.) Feta cheese does not come on the gyro, which is new to me after having these in Greece & seemed sort of stingy. A small bottle of soda was $3.75!! EEK! Not surprising the price was not on the self-serve (!) case. And plan for 3.99% surcharge if you use a credit card. Writing an update to my review since I came back recently and the previous time I was here was probably 8+ years ago. The store is pretty much the same after all these years, except they have re-arranged the seating and store area a little bit to accommodate more tables and chairs. I decided to stay basic and ordered the Gyro sandwich (lamb and beef). The gyro was large with lots of meat stuffed in a fluffy pita. There was more than enough tzatiki sauce for me. Too much actually since I have a slight aversion to creamy things. But overall, a very tasty gyro. My dad ordered the Keftedes (ground beef and pork Greek meatballs with tzatziki). The meatballs had great flavor and kind of reminds me of my parents' homecooking. Strange because we cook Asian food. Even though the meatballs are listed as an appetizer, it makes a great entree too. It comes with what I think is a white bean puree, tzatiki, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and basket of pita. My brother ordered the Pork Souvlaki Platter with french fries. The fries were crisp and fresh, but the pork was a bit chewy and fatty. I didn't get to taste the falafels my mom ordered, but she said they were great. The best part of the meal was the Galaktoboureko we ordered for dessert. I've had it only once before, so as super excited when they had it. The custard was not too creamy and had a lemon flavor. It was like a softer bread pudding. My parents also ordered the Ekmek, but that was way too creamy for me. We all loved the Galaktoboureko the best. I'm glad I got a chance to come back here after all these years.
