I am truly pleased to write this review. I cannot express enough how impressed and happy i have been with the overall experience working with Kelli. Both the service and the quality of the finished product have been truly excellent throughout the process. Having been a longtime lurker of the bespoke suit world, I was excited when a family wedding provided the perfect excuse to finally take the leap. Without exaggeration, I contacted about 20 different companies in my search. This is not unusual as I tend to be very thorough however an additional factor was that I allowed the busyness to distract me and my schedule got away from me leading up to the date and when I finally realized it, I was left with almost no time to realistically have a suit made by my deadline. My conversations with the multitude of people I spoke to in my quest only confirmed my fear and I was about to resign myself to the fact that I would simply have to settle for off-the-rack + tailoring and bespoke would have to remain a "someday" dream. Of course, there is nothing wrong with OTR, and the truth is that the average observer would be hard pressed to tell the difference. And yet, if you are interested enough in bespoke to have read this far, I likely do not have to explain the a nostalgic desire and charm; the idea of a one of a kind suit, designed by you and made exactly for your body. And just when the disappointment was creeping up, Kelli answered the phone. Not only was she receptive and welcoming of my inquiry, she was also very reassuring of the fact that she could accommodate me. In fact, she was the only person out of so many that I spoke to who seemed eager to accept the job and was confident that she could meet my deadline. We immediately scheduled an initial consultation and I had to contain myself so as not to get my hopes up as my conversations with the other services left me skeptical. Kelli did not disappoint. Upon our initial meeting, she encouraged me to explore the many fabric options I would be choosing from while she gave me a brief yet thorough overview and clear expectations of the entire process. She took a real personal interest and was very patient and informative along the way, helping to guide my selections based on my own personal taste while also considering how I intended to make use of the suit beyond the initial event. I came away from that initial meeting completely free of the concern I had going in, feeling completely optimistic and assured that I was in good hands with Kelli. As promised my suit arrived yesterday and I came in today for a final fitting. The suit was even more striking than I expected and we quickly went over a few minor tweaks to get the fit just right. The wedding is this Saturday and I could not be more excited at this point. I am so grateful and consider myself ridiculously fortunate to have found Kelli and Hall Madden exactly when I did. As a final aside and as hard as it may be to believe, there is actually a cherry on top of this story. Again, having spoken to so many competing companies in my search, the pricing for their service is ultra competitive and I honestly do not remember a single other service that was in the same ballpark for an eqivalent level of true bespoke(there are levels to this). For my wedding day, I told my fiancé that I wanted to feel like a million dollars! My brother who had used Hall Madden before, recommended the LA location. I also had a very specific dark green color in mind and knew that I had to go the custom suit route. After an initial consult with Jaime, I knew that Hall Madden would take care of me. I was so impressed by their fabric selection! The consult soon became a fitting, where it took about an hour to finish both parts. About 4 weeks later I had a three piece tux that was to die for! After a second fitting, I could not have been happier at the feel, comfort, and quality of the tux. I highly recommend Hall Madden for that special occasion. Proper Suit rules. I can't recommend this place enough! I came in with about a month until my wedding and high hopes of a killer custom suit. I know, I shouldn't have waited until the last minute for something this important, but there's so much to plan! Anyway, I'd already tried other options but the prices were sky high. Not so with Proper Suit. Stuart quoted me a great price and had me sized in no time. I got to pick the fabric, the lining, the cut and the whole time Stuart gave me great advice. He really knows his stuff. After that, it only took a few weeks and I had my suit. A fitting later, it was ready to go. I love this suit. It's so comfortable, slick, perfectly fitted and I got tons of compliments on it during the wedding. I can't wait to wear it again and again. I recently decided to up my suit game and was exploring different options, looking at suit shops as well as suits online . I came across Hall Madden and am very happy with the results. They specialize in bespoke clothing (a fancy term that just means the suit is custom-made for you as opposed to off the rack). I met with their rep Richard Hall at their West LA location, that was super convenient (it was one of the closest men's tailors near me) although when it comes to suits obviously quality matters more than just location as you'll be wearing these for a long time. Fortunately, the quality and customer service was excellent, so it being close to me was just a nice bonus. Richard had a discussion with me about what kind of suit I was looking for. There was no pressure of any kind, he just wanted to know what I was looking for and how he could make me look my best. We discussed different options ranging from three-piece suits to tweed suits to slim fit suits. I ended up going for the slim fit suit as that fit my style and the kind of events I most often go to in Los Angeles. (I'm also considering getting a three-piece suit from them in the future, the nice thing is I wouldn't have to get my measurements done again as they already have them.) After our discussion Richard took my measurements which was a pretty quick and easy process. After that they send the measurements off to their factory where the suit is made and was available for me to pick up 4 weeks later. I've worn the suit to all manner of events from weddings to work to dates to various business casual gatherings around the city. More than a few times I've gotten compliments from people on the suit (including from girls I was on a date with) and I've pointed some of them in Hall Madden's direction. I needed a suit, but no ordinary suit would do. I'm about to travel across the country to interview for post-medical school residency positions, and I want to make sure I look as presentable as I can be. Unfortunately, every single OTR suit I've purchased has been a complete failure due to the weird proportions of my chest and shoulders. Fortunately I found out about Proper Suit through a good friend of mine, who happened to be rocking one of their killer suits at a wedding we were both recently at. After failing once again to purchase a form fitting suit through another popular online MTM suit purveyor, I decided to give the guys at Proper Suit a shot. The whole process was absolutely seamless -- pun intended. First, I went to their website and put down a $150 fitting deposit, which went towards the purchase of my suit. The next day I spoke to Stuart, THE LA fit expert and brother of one of the co-founders, to go over what I exactly I was looking for and when I would need it by. I was worried that with the 6-8 week lead time quoted on the website that my suit wouldn't be ready by the time I needed it, but Stuart assured me they'd have it done and he would be able to do my fitting that upcoming weekend to expedite the process. As the LA office was not open yet, we arranged to meet at my friend's house in Redondo to do an in-home fitting as I'm about 45 min east of the city. Stuart also instructed me to start looking at their look book and think of what I wanted for my suit. The day of the fitting, Stuart arrived within 30 min of the scheduled time and was even able to squeeze in my friend who was hosting us, as he couldn't pass up the opportunity for a new suit either (score a $100 referral bonus for me!). Having limited sartorial knowledge the fitting was both educational and fun. Not only was Stuart very patient, he helped us out greatly when we were a bit undecided. From the suit liner and piping, to the button stitching, I was amazed at the level of customization from a MTM company. Best part is everything is included, even with the base suits. Proper Suit uses a combination of template suits and hand measurements to get a rough estimate of what a person's true fit is. I was skeptical because I was expecting a thorough fitting, but after just 1 hour he got everything he needed from the both of us. The hardest part of this whole experience was waiting the 4 weeks to get the suit, as I was anxious to see how my choices would actually pan out. I was also worried the fit would still be off somehow. Well my suit just arrived and it is worth every penny! I've never had a suit that fits this incredibly well. The suit was expertly packaged in a garment bag and box, and even hung on a mahogany hanger (other places use plastic!). Even though a second adjustment is included in the purchase price, the initial fit was so exact that I'm not sure I really need one. Sure it's pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for and more. Comparing a similar brand name OTR with the same wool from the same fashion house, you're paying the same price or less with Proper Suit once you factor in the costs of alterations. Stuart took all the necessary measurements and helped me decide on all the little details of the suit in just about an hour. I received everything, and we made a trip to the tailor for final adjustments (which were very, very minor) with a few days to spare. One thing I admire about Stuart is that he can quickly figure out what kind of style you like and make suggestions based on what he thinks you like. I generally don't like shopping for clothes, but getting fitted is painless and actually pretty fun. I told them one of the suits was more for social functions and weddings. Great, great experience with Stuart and propersuit.com!!!! I have been around when it comes to MTM and off the rack suits. Save yourself a lot of wasted time and money and forego the rest. Feels much more like a custom job than MTM given the personal attention they give to the fitting process. Once my suit arrived it was immediately head and shoulders above the rest in my closet.
