We just came off of a 12 person tuxedo rental from The Black Tux. It was a mixed bag. Several tuxedos in terms of proper sizing were so far off the mark that it was hard to understand how something could be that wrong. Others had a flawless experience. The overall quality of the rental tux (jacket and pants, shirt, shoes) is very good for a rental. Minor alterations (shortened jacket sleeves) were spot on. I did have to request a replacement jacket however due to poor stitching where the satin lapel meets the collar at the notch. Very sloppy and noticeable but they were very responsive in replacing the jacket and the replacement was fine. Here's my issue with The Black Tux. From the beginning, they said that you could opt to purchase the complete tuxedo set. Nordstroms said the same and in fact it is noted in Black Tux's brochure included with the shipment. "After your event, return your rental. Or, purchase your rental. ...Buy your favorite items at an exclusive discounted price..." As I have another black tie wedding coming up later this year, I decided to buy the tuxedo. Nothing doing. Sorry, due to "inventory constraints" we cannot offer the tuxedo or shoes for purchase. Really? And ridiculously, they offered the replacement jacket for purchase but not the pants! This is essentially a breach of contract, completely reneging on a written offer. So, buyer or renter, beware. This situation displays the true colors of the company. A slick marketing machine, with Ai-generated customer service responses, and a total disregard for honoring their promised offer. I would not trust them again. The staff at the location seemed stressed and unhappy. The woman who helped us was great, but ended up handing off our checkout to another employee. When we received the suit, none of the promised changes were communicated to this other employee. The size was wrong, the collar extender was missing, the sleeves were too long. We used the Black Tux for a recent wedding and I will never use an online service like this again. First off, the ordering process. They had some discounted special going when I ordered my suit, can't remember the exact price, but I want to say $169 if a full suit rental. So I did this, only to find out that I didn't receive the white button down shirt, and was charged the full price of over $200. Immediately called them, and customer service at least sent me a shirt in time for the wedding free of charge. Still overpaid, but was just happy that I'd get a shirt in time. But after it arrived I ended up buying my own since they do not offer half sizes on the neck... For the rest of the suit, honestly looked like it shipped directly from the previous user. Flash forward to the return process. You're suppose to use the same box they sent it in and rip off the shipping label to expose the return label, and return it via a drop off at fedex. Simple enough... So I take it to FedEx, where as I'm about to rip of the old label, the FedEx guy tells me not to worry about it, he'll do it. Okay, he's the mailing expert, I trust him... 2 days later my tux is back on my door step....... If your return is 1 day late, Black Tux charges you $60. Knowing this and with my tux now being late, I call them again to explain what happened. Can hear the lady on the phone kind of chuckling the whole time as I explained the situation, as if she wasn't a buying any of it.. she told me if I returned it the next day (which I did) she was personally monitoring my account and would call me the next day, and return my $60... didn't believe her when she said it, and of course that never happened. Do yourself a favor, just go to men's warehouse or something. They'll have every size possible, where Black Tux has every other size.There's too many opportunities for something to go wrong when ordering online. And the only way to make it right is to play customer service roulette and hope you get someone who speaks mild English and is nice enough to actually help you. read more

Tux was supposed to arrive on 9/7 so I emailed and received a response on 9/8 saying the jacket size is unavailable and they could provide a replacement 1.5" shorter than my size requires. First, the wedding is 9/17 so why did it take so long to realize the jacket size was unavailable, and when would they have let me know if I hadn't emailed them? Second, being an online business it was very difficult to reach a person to speak with to lay out the available options. Finally getting someone on the phone I realized there were no suitable remedies available so I was forced to ask for a complete refund a week and a day from the event. Unacceptable and bad business. This was my first and last experience with The Black Tux. Good thing I'm not the groom or in the wedding party. Fortunately, Men's Wearhouse said they can help me on such short notice. read more

Poor quality, poorly fitted - didn't even wear it to the event. Item showed up 12/11 for a 12/20 event - very wrinkly, but it did get better after it was hung up. Coat sleeves had ZERO alterations - so I had to dig up a tailor to work on a rush job. They give you $15/item for small operations - the tailor charged me $40. The Black Tux did give me the extra $25 after I complained. Why they would send a coat with 38" sleeves and a shirt with 34" sleeves is beyond me. The coat itself didn't fit right, even after the alterations. As I was ancillary to the wedding party, I decided to wear my black suit. It was better than the poor-fitting option of this tuxedo. Arrived late (7 days to event not 10 days). Jacket was tailored very badly, the jacket sleeves were stitched on the outside causing a crease on both sleeves, the sleeve length was too long and covers the shirt sleeve completely, and the whole garment was a wrinkled mess, didn't even looked dry cleaned from last use, and now I'm scrambling for a fix. Took it to a tailor who said and I quote "a massacre" and Would cost more to fix than the entire rental. Your call center hold is ridiculous no queue announcement, no option to leave voicemail, no option to leave callback number, stupidity. Returned for refund. read more

We had such high hopes for this company! The price was right, the reviews were promising, but they completely dropped the ball and caused unnecessary stress right before our wedding. We ordered our suits with no issue initially and even received a beautiful navy blue suit in our home try-on kit. Because not everyone in our wedding party was renting through The Black Tux, we color-matched their suits to the exact shade we were sent. Fast forward to two weeks before our wedding--when the actual suits arrived--they were an entirely different color. Not a slight variation, but a much darker, almost black blue. We immediately contacted customer service, only to be told that this was the same color we had been sent (it wasn't). After going back and forth, they finally offered to send us another suit to compare, but it wouldn't arrive until the week before our wedding. Not exactly ideal timing, as what was I to do if that color also didn't work either? Their "solution" was to offer us a credit to use at The Black Tux--completely useless, as we aren't planning on renting suits again anytime soon- especially not from them after this debacle. After multiple phone calls, they finally agreed to refund us if we returned all the suits before the wedding. We did exactly that. And yet--now they're accusing us of keeping items from the rental returns, which we absolutely did not. On top of that, we had to reach out multiple times to ensure our groomsmen got their refunds, because they kept claiming the suits weren't returned and that there was "no tracking information"--basically accusing us of not sending them back on time. This company has been nothing but stressful, disorganized, and dismissive. Your wedding is way too important to risk dealing with a company like this. As a stressed bride the week before the wedding who was dismissed and rudely spoken to by their "helpful" customer service representatives- save yourself the time, money, and massive headache, and go with a more reliable rental service. read more

Utilized these guys to rent a tux for my buddy's wedding in the spring. Their online system is OK - it's always a challenge to try and convey clothing sizes online, especially if you're not a standard size off of the rack. Overall their selection is excellent. They seem to utilize a phone tree/email service to respond to all needs online, so it's very difficult to directly get a hold of someone - however they ARE pretty attentive on that phone/email tree answering and they were able to answer all of my questions in relatively short fashion, including getting a replacement jacket/shirt sent out. Packaging is neat and well designed. Product quality seems solid and will hopefully serve us well for the event. Even the shoe bags and accessories are labeled so it's nice to have everything so nicely laid out. Getting adjusted sizes sent out was no problem. Received everything well in advance of our event. Prices are a bit on the higher side for rentals (at least in the past year). read more

The service and response is terrible, it is all online. DO NOT ever USE this COMPANY. There are so many more local rental places that care about and provide service to get it right. This company does none of that. My Daughters Future Husband selected this company for Wedding attire rental. First you may see them in Nordstrom but they are not affiliated with Nordstrom and do not provide the same expected service that Nordstrom Provides. The fitting personnel were rude, and not helpful, it was like we were a nuisance to be there. Second, once your fitting is done, you have no person to speak with or contact. It is only through the website. My order was entered wrong, there is no phone number listed anywhere to talk to people, and just a generic email(if you can find it). It took three days to get this resolved, then when the rental arrived it looked like a pile of garbage. See pics, and then again, no help, the website and email says to go get it pressed on your own and they will reimburse for press charges only up to $15 dollars. Which does not cover an expedited press because of short timeline. Not to mention the quality of the suit is extremely poor, nothing like what was shown during fitting. And if there is a fit problem, they tell you to take it yourself to get hemmed and fixed, and again shell out your own money to do so. Total bait and switch. The refund policy is crazy, they will only give you a credit against future use if it is more than 45 days before your event. I notified them 5 days before the event after the suit arrived that is was not wearable, and that I was sending it back that day way before the event. The only response I got was regarding their policy that no refunds and that I would have a credit for future use. Which is useless. This company provides low quality suits, with no guarantees against anything. No person or service to help, and it is price way high for rentals. read more

My wedding was 10/05/25 and I got the Plum Shawl Set from them. I gave The Black Tux a 4 out 5 because the fit of the jacket, pants, and white long-sleeve shirt was excellent, and both in-person and online customer service were outstanding. The delivery was also punctual, ensuring everything arrived as expected. However, I deducted one point because the latch used to tighten the pants was somewhat flimsy and broke off on the wedding day before the ceremony, which was an inconvenience. Free try on is not free... For how much they charge for RENTING a suit, you'd think they would bite the bullet on the shipping. Also, for the free try on you can't select multiple sizes to try on. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RENT FROM THEM I have a wedding this Saturday 5/25. It's a destination wedding and I fly out 5/23. My suit was not delivered 10 days before so I called on 5/19 to find out what is going on. Apparently they had an issue with inventory and didn't even bother to tell me (the agent on the phone said they have inventory issues with a lot of orders right now btw). They told me they would guarantee it would arrive by 5/21. It's 5/21 as I'm writing this and nothing. I call and they tell me they can't find my tracking information but they can guarantee it will deliver by tomorrow. HOW ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO GUARANTEE THAT IF THEY DON'T HAVE TRACKING INFO??? Absolutely terrible customer service. I had attempted to visit the showroom in Houston three times. First time got cancelled due to miscommunication and location mishap. Appointment needed to be rescheduled and earliest to reschedule was a little over a week. Booking was made with the correct address. Day of the second appointment, received a call indicating an associate will not be available so will need to reschedule again. I understood but the next available was also another week. They offered me an earlier date however in a showroom that is almost one hour away from Houston (which I agreed to do to get it done). Day of the third appointment, received a call indicating that they need to reschedule again. Would have to wait another week to attempt to get a slot in their showroom. Due to this I elected to try to use someone else. The company's story is to "improve the tuxedo rental process." I will give this a 1 star rating because their mission statement does not align with their actual business practices. It's almost a month and they could not simply get me an appointment. They do not make it simple so it is added more stress on top of everything else we need to focus on! read more

Don't waste your money! My daughter is getting married next week. Her fiance ordered tuxes from The Black Tux. My husband's, and two sons' tuxes came last week....so wrinkled! The directions say to hang it and the wrinkles will come out after a few days. That's a lie! They are not only wrinkled but made from cheap fabric. My husband had to steam his tux as well as one of my son's tuxes. My other son sent his to the dry cleaners to press. (The Black Tux said they will reimburse him $15.) Also, one of my sons didn't receive the black button covers, though they are sending them. My husband's pants looked like they were made for a clown. He sent those back for the slim cut, though he's not slim. Who needs this hassle when they have a wedding coming? We live in Cincinnati. Last October, our son got married, he ordered his tuxes from Folchis, a company here in Cinci. His wedding was in St Louis. My husband and I picked up 6 tuxes from Folchis before we left here. All 6 were of fine material, pressed perfectly, everything fit all 6 of the guys perfectly. The process was seamless. Oh, and it was a bit cheaper from the local company, which is beside the point. Though the groom gets his tux for free from The Black Tux...it's still not worth it!! So, don't rent from The Black Tux. I am sure they will be out of business in a year. Suits are nice, but me and the wedding party had a terrible experience with their website and customer service. There were many inconsistencies with the whole ordering process. All of the groomsmen wore the same thing yet were all charged different prices. The checkout says one thing and the receipt that gets sent to your email reflects something different. Also, we've experience differences in what they actually send you vs what was said to be sent via email. I reached out to customer service about the discrepancies that all of the groomsmen experienced and apparently some were charged a rental damage fee and some didn't. Thankfully they remedied that situation by charging all the groomsmen that didn't get charged the rental damage fee after we all had to spend the time figuring out what was going on in utter confusion. Also, kind of silly that the return for a rental is so short. We had the wedding on Friday and the return was the following Monday. We didn't receive a warning email about rental needing to be return until the Saturday when everyone is on the come down from celebrating or traveling. And I'm sure they have the return policy somewhere but it is not made clear in their website or myriad of emails you receive through your journey ordering a rental (on top of the advertisement emails they send you). Luckily the company is understanding and charges only $60 for an extension. If you're traveling from another country you might as well pay the $60 upfront or pack the return box with you. Overall, terrible experience. Again, suits are nice, but not worth the headache. The hiccups in their system, fine; but the customer service and how everything was handled was disappointing. read more

Rented a tux for our son's prom. Both of the girls that were helping us did NOT know how to tie a necktie. My son needed his pants to be hemmed one inch. The receipt they emailed me did not show this alteration.....since they never answer the phone, I had to go in to the showroom to verify the alteration was added. They showed me the -1 on the pant. When tux arrived, the pants were not hemmed, they hemmed the sleeve length on the jacket instead and this was shown on the receipt. I called and spent a very lengthy time dealing with their error and still not feeling confident the jacked won't come with the length too long this time. Added much unneeded stress and very didsatisfied with the lack of customer service that should be expected in this type of establishment. read more

1 Star - Absolutely Unacceptable Experience If you're looking for a reliable suit rental company for a major life event--look elsewhere. This company had over two months to get things right, and they still managed to completely botch my order. First, they never sent the correct-sized pants, despite repeated confirmations and plenty of time to fix their error. Came here to get a tux for my court wedding. I made an appointment and I was taken cared of right away upon arrival. Probably spent 30-45mins they have a good selection for what you may need. After taking some photos, i realized that the material looked really cheap. I'm not an expert on suits but I've owned them before and these just didn't look great in photos. However, for what you may need for special gatherings, this place is convenient and I was able to ship it back via UPS. read more

Ordered another jacket and the sleeves fit but the jacket was too small around his waist. Had to find someone who could alter the sleeves - last minute (two days before the wedding) - so not ideal but it worked out. Tuxes and suit both looked great on the day of the wedding! Just make sure you have each person try on the suit/tuxes as soon as they can to get the right size in time for your event! Super easy to box up and return after the wedding! read more

This was the worst tux rental experience ever. The staff was nice enough, but charged us a rush fee which they first quoted $40 and then when I asked about it, they dropped it to $20. We took the tux in hand to our dry cleaner and I bought a back up pair of shoes because I had no faith. Of course, the clothes didn't arrive the day they were supposed to. I reached out to the only saving grace at The Black Tux- Pamela! She was kind enough to reverse the rush fee, tried her hardest to get us the items we needed on time and listened to our issues, all the while remaining upbeat and helpful. Pamela is worth her weight in gold! Even with Pamela's excellent customer service fees, we will not be returning to the Black Tux again. Just horrible. read more

I placed an order for a suit for my friend's wedding in mid April, because I'm his groomsman. The Black Tux asked me to place an order 30 days prior to the wedding date, which is June 5, which I did. I was planned to fly out to Seattle on June 2 to help prepare for my friend's wedding. If you look at the Black Tux website, they say they will ship out my suit 2-3 days after checking out and will make sure I receive my suit at least 14 days before the wedding date. However, it was already late May, just several days before the wedding, and I had not received my suit yet. It was last tracked on May 21, and there had been NO further update on the status of my delivery, even AS OF AUGUST 12 (LMAO) Apparently it is still "shipping" to this day LOOL I called the UPS and they said they don't know where the suit is, and they told me to contact the Black Tux to resolve the issue with this delivery. During the last 1 month, I've been trying to reach out to the Black Tux by emailing them (support@theblacktux.com) and calling their number (1-888-717-1588). However, they have never answered their phone or replied to the emails I've been sending since April 27. They even ignored all my emails and calls requesting a full refund. At the end, I went to Macy's and bought a suit, because the Black Tux took my money (around $150) and never delivered the suit to me. I am not sure if this place is a scam or they've gone bankrupt. I only used the Black Tux, because my friend (who's getting married) gave me this website to rent the suit for his wedding. It was a VERY FRUSTRATING experience, to order from this crappy store, just to waste my money, time and energy.
