It is just like the 90s skating rink that I grew up with going to almost to a T. Wood floor is stellar and top tier. They have unique events like the snake, backwards skating for newbies and advanced, host referees are fun and engaging. It was an honor coming here will come back again with family.

I'm giving Great Skate the second star because Great Skate at least refunded 2 of the 3 grandchildren's fees since 2 of the 3 refused to skate once getting past the Great Skate entrance and seeing what it was like inside. I was there just to bring the kids. I did not skate; I was just 1) a Great Skate spectator, 2) the source of payment to Great Skate and 3) to be responsibile for the kids while they were visiting Great Skate. Nonetheless, I had to sign a Great Skate waiver and I was not allowed to sign the Great Skate waiver without providing an email address. I was more than willing to sign the Great Skate waiver, provide a driver's license, provide my passport, give fingerprints, whatever to just to get inside of Great Skate. But, because the Great Skate waiver is online I could not progress thru the Great Skate waiver without me first forking over my email address. Otherwise, I would be denied the ability to be responsible for the kids. Rather than wait outside the doors of Great Skate while the kids went in by themselves, I gave up my email address . . . just to sit on a bench and watch. Yep, now I'm getting spammed with a relentless barrage of Great Skate email solicitations. They are not about a good CX, just generating more revenue, bolstering the Great Skate spam list and managing data via a rigid Great Skate platform.

While visiting family in Phoenix for New Year's, my 3 year old wanted to ice skate! Found this…read moresmall outdoor ice skating ring in downtown Mesa. There is a small parking lot behind the skating ring. Parking was free. We visited on 12/30/23. I purchased tickets the day before, which I highly recommend. Tickets were $10/person. Upon arrival, they had a stand by line and a pre-purchased ticket line. There were a lot of people waiting in standby, as tickets for this day were sold out. Tickets are only needed for ice skating. There is lots of room for family/friends to watch and hangout while you skate. After checking in, we were given tickets that we exchanged for skates. They only had hockey style skates. Note, the small size skate is an 8T (toddler). So if your toddler has a smaller foot they give them foot skates, which attach to the bottom of kid shoes. There was plenty of seating to sit and put shoes on. We went with family so they held onto our shoes, otherwise you would have to rent a locker to keep items in. Next to the skate checkout stand were ice skating assists (plastic walkers for young kids, see pic). These were an additional $5 to rent, WORTH IT! There were several employees constantly brushing the ice. On this particular day the sun was warm and the ice was melting a bit, so they had to keep brushing the water, but this didn't interfere with our skating. We enjoyed the ice skating. Cheap and fun family outing. There was an AT&T pop up tent nearby so we checked out the booth where my kids got to jump in the snow globe! So fun! There was one dessert food truck also, and I saw online that they had other trucks coming and other fun events. Definitely worth checking out!

Because it doesn't snow in the Valley, these little makeshift rinks are the way to go in Arizona. For awhile, CitySkate was located on Central Ave and could hold quite a few people. But because of the light rail extension construction, it got moved to the CityScape plaza area. This has made the ice skating rink smaller and more crowded. So I haven't been in quite some time because of this. CitySkate usually opens around Thanksgiving weekend and stays open until after the New Year. General admission prices are close to $20. Kids, seniors and military are a little cheaper. There is a Christmas Tree in the center of the rink that you can skate around. This is a fun option for families during the holidays if it isn't too crowded.

Love coming to Skateland Mesa…read more My wife and I have now been here for our niece's last two birthdays and one other time just to skate. Birthday parties are handled very well here. Our niece is getting more and more comfortable skating all of the time and has nearly graduated from using a helper. No shame in using it though as she knows she needs some assistance. Nowadays she will skate with it but then push it ahead of herself and skate to it. It is great to see kids to adults of all levels having fun out there on the rink. Slower skaters are encouraged to stay inside the oval in the middle of the floor so the more advanced can go around on the outer skating floor. You are reminded of the rules, but nothing is heavy-handed in any way. Good music and fun little games by the staff throughout the night. So glad they have my size - 15s in a skate. They also have rollerblades, but I am not a fan. Have to have four on the floor and spread out to stay upright. If you are in the area and looking for some fun that you may have not had in 30 or 40 years - go skating at Skateland Mesa. Plenty of theme nights for all and even some adults only skating nights. Highly recommend it for fun and a workout.

He never skated, but he encouraged me to learn and he would always bring a newspaper to read while I skated. I miss you dad. I came here the other night to skate and had a great time. I wasn't in the best of spirits, but once I got on the skating rink, my mood improved quickly! I love the feeling of skating and they were playing some old school pop, which I enjoyed. On Tuesday nights, it's 2 for $22 to skate, which includes rentals. They have specials all week long so check out their calendar. I'm definitely coming back for Thu adult skate night when I get a free day! I did check out their snack bar as I forgot my water bottle and was thirsty so I got a small soda, which was $3.75 (price is high), but it's free refills. I give this place 4 stars because they really could use a face-lift here, I mean its 2025 and I felt like I was back in the 80s or 90s here. Also, their wrist guards that they require you wear were pretty gross, that could use some improvement. This is a great way to get some exercise in and I had a great time here! I'll be back!

This rink had a lot of dips and uneven surfaces. The DJ started out strong, with favorite hits from way back, but as the night progressed, the music and the vibe kind of changed to a slower pace. There is a concession stand as well as a game room. But honestly. this facility is not worth me coming back to. It's probably good for children. But definitely not for a seasoned gal like myself. Adult skate night is great as a lot of very good skaters show up, so you're in for a treat when you come. There may have been a few people that came that couldn't skate that well. Of all the rinks I have been to lately, I think this one was the most clean and aesthestically pleasing to me. I just wish they wouldn't turn on the bright lights too much. The DJ was kind of all over the place, so I didn't enjoy the music as much, but it was fun to skate and get some exercise in! I want to improve on my rollerskating technique and want to be able to skate backwards with ease, Im working towards that goal. I enjoyed coming here and I'll be back again. It's more pricy on adult night where it's $15 for admission, but honestly, a great bargain for 3 hours of skating. It's great places like these are still open, I know its not so hip to rollerskate, but I've always enjoyed it and will keep skating until I can't. I'm glad this place exist.
