I love skating, being me back to my younger years! Fun place, staff is nice and it's clean! Will be back

I'm a regular and have been skating at Mesa for 3 years now, and I'm at my last straw. Last night I arrived to skate the Saturday 7- 9:30 pm session that had been advertised on the calendar, only to find there was a private function and I wasn't able to enter. I had checked the website earlier THAT SAME DAY to check the session time, and it was still being advertised. There was no notice that the rink would be closed to the public. No one knew about this. I stood in the foyer and watched them turn away whole families and a continuous stream of their regular patrons. This is such a disrespectful way to treat customers. Some of us have a very long drive to get there. My problem is that this wasn't a one-off occasion. THIS IS A REGULAR ISSUE. Multiple times, Mesa has failed to adequately announce closures and facility issues. Their website and socials are always wrong, and if you call to check, no one answers the phone. At a bare minimum, customers need to know when the business is open and when it's shut. That's a baseline operating procedure. There is no excuse in this day and age for not being able to relay reliable opening and closing times. If there is an emergency issue, that's understandable, but failing to notify people about a private booking is not. We just want to know when we can skate. Why can't you even do that? You fail before I even walk in the door. read more

My daughter wanted to practice roller skating to prepare herself for her friend's roller skate themed birthday party next month. I agreed to take her to Skateland during the week since it was one of the few roller skating rinks open in the Valley before 8pm. After driving forty one miles from my home and entering the facility with a very excited little girl, I was turned away because of a private event. The response of the guy working the desk was basically "sorry bro, come back tomorrow." My advice if you plan on heading here with your kids during their posted business hours is to call first. This place reminds me of my childhood. Every weekend, I would beg my dad to take me rollerskating and very often, he would oblige. He never skated, but he encouraged me to learn and he would always bring a newspaper to read while I skated. I miss you dad. I came here the other night to skate and had a great time. I wasn't in the best of spirits, but once I got on the skating rink, my mood improved quickly! I love the feeling of skating and they were playing some old school pop, which I enjoyed. On Tuesday nights, it's 2 for $22 to skate, which includes rentals. They have specials all week long so check out their calendar. I'm definitely coming back for Thu adult skate night when I get a free day! I did check out their snack bar as I forgot my water bottle and was thirsty so I got a small soda, which was $3.75 (price is high), but it's free refills. I give this place 4 stars because they really could use a face-lift here, I mean its 2025 and I felt like I was back in the 80s or 90s here. Also, their wrist guards that they require you wear were pretty gross, that could use some improvement. This is a great way to get some exercise in and I had a great time here! I LOVE to roller skate. But if you are in want of a place where you can skate and request music, forget it. They allow kids to skate in the wrong direction and when I requested a song, the young DJ said, "Sorry, we are not taking requests now" and proceeded to play a whole slew of songs that were Sabrina Carpenteresque. The process to purchase tickets and get a wristband is painfully slow. read more

Love coming to Skateland Mesa. My wife and I have now been here for our niece's last two birthdays and one other time just to skate. Birthday parties are handled very well here. Our niece is getting more and more comfortable skating all of the time and has nearly graduated from using a helper. No shame in using it though as she knows she needs some assistance. Nowadays she will skate with it but then push it ahead of herself and skate to it. It is great to see kids to adults of all levels having fun out there on the rink. Slower skaters are encouraged to stay inside the oval in the middle of the floor so the more advanced can go around on the outer skating floor. You are reminded of the rules, but nothing is heavy-handed in any way. Good music and fun little games by the staff throughout the night. So glad they have my size - 15s in a skate. They also have rollerblades, but I am not a fan. Have to have four on the floor and spread out to stay upright. If you are in the area and looking for some fun that you may have not had in 30 or 40 years - go skating at Skateland Mesa. Plenty of theme nights for all and even some adults only skating nights. Highly recommend it for fun and a workout. read more

Asher made our party so much fun. We got a party package and it was a fantastic easy process to set up and then participate. Our table was all set up in advance. We got an extra pizza which was delivered to our table piping hot and delicious. I will be coming back regularly, the music was fun, we got to play games and the glowing items for sale were cute. Food took over 45 minutes for simple fries and nuggets. Then when the food finally came they made everyone leave the floor for a dance party no one wanted. I expressed my concern to the manager and they would not refund me for the skating, but I did get a refund on the food so it was a partial resolution. read more

I visited Skateland today with my children and a group of friends. I have always enjoyed coming to Skateland and, until today, have never had a negative experience. During our visit, there was a man who appeared to be on a FaceTime or video call the entire time he was at the facility. His phone camera was pointed outward toward the skating floor, where numerous children were skating. He stated that he was allowing his wife to watch their child skate, but it was clear that the person on the other end of the call could see far more than just that one child. In addition to the video call, he appeared to be using another device and speaking with someone else at the same time. The situation made me uncomfortable, and several others in our group expressed similar concerns. I brought the issue to the attention of staff because one of the rules announced before skating is that phones are not permitted on the skate floor. I was told that they "don't really care about cell phones." I then spoke with a manager, who initially seemed to take my concerns seriously, but ultimately no action was taken. The individual continued walking on the skate floor with his phone pointed toward the children while remaining on the video call. At no point did staff ask him to put the phone away, step off the skate floor, or adjust the camera so that only his child was visible. Instead, the behavior was allowed to continue despite multiple concerns being raised. While I understand that parents may want to share moments with family members, this situation felt inappropriate and created an uncomfortable environment for many guests. I was disappointed that my concerns were dismissed, particularly given the number of children present. This experience left me feeling uneasy and will unfortunately make me think twice about returning in the future. I hope management will consider reviewing and enforcing its policies regarding phone use on the skate floor to help ensure all guests feel comfortable and safe. read more

I like it here, it reminds me of Wheelies, the old school skate rink in the 80s that I went to. An affordable activity for the whole fam.

Went for an adult skate night with my college-aged kids. We love skating, and although this rink is like most others--in dire need of a reno--the service was friendly. Plus, I appreciated not having to navigate crowds of kids using skate-mates. It's also fun watching the rhythm skaters doing cool moves. That's where the positives end. Con: THE MUSIC. Horrible is an understatement. No DJ--just an endless playlist of seriously bad hiphop laden with bitches, hos, and the n-word. I'm no prude, love a good dance groove, and appreciate the f-bomb, but that mess is just embarrassing. Even the kids thought the music sucked. Surely the management can find popular music that isn't also misogynistic and crude. read more

My visit to Skate Land-Mesa was a very positive and fun experience on 1/14/26. I am from Show Low, Arizona and am down in the valley for training for work purposes. I decided to bring my skates (which I have not put on for 25-30 years) and find a rink to skate at - after much research on google I decided to give Skate Land - Mesa a try and I was not disappointed. The staff was friendly, the music was good, the DJ was a cool younger guy who took his time to chat with me - he poayed a mix of todays hits and some old school skate music , the poly urethane floor was smooth and great to skate (like my home rink in Chino) and the atmosphere was just like I remember skating to be --- again 25-30 years ago at Skate Way / Skate Express in Chino, CA. Went a few times. The venue is nice but the music is horrible. Like its so bad I feel like leaving. Ive asked several times if I could send them a mixtape so that I could be considered a free DJ. Just smoke and mirrors. Bring some sound cancellation headphones. read more

As a native and growing up around the corner where we walked to Skateland every weekend, it brought back so many memories. It was a great time. However, my only complaint is that they could not get through just 1 song without having to announce something. Most songs were interrupted up to 3 times. Maybe they like to hear themselves talk but the kids get so excited over a song only for it to be interrupted. Such a bummer. read more

Been here a couple times in a few months and so far it's been consistent. Super slow service, it's always really hot, and you can never understand what the guy says over the intercom. And the bathrooms are always out of stuff and gross. Overall good time, will still return, the nachos are pretty good, but the place just feels run down and not managed correctly. read more

I am a student at eduprize queen creek and we had a field trip planned for today with a signed contract and when we arrived with three buses full of kids and no one was there the teachers that were on this trip made over two dozen calls and no one answered and we waited an hour for a call back. I was here for the Sailor Jerry's Savage Apple Event, it was really well done and quite the quirky venue to do it in. Had a ton of fun and didn't even have to skate (which I find terrifying and is why I do not normally go to roller rinks). Played a few of the arcade games which I always find fun and enjoyed the DJ's. The lighting was spectacular :D I would definitely go for another adults only event. read more

I don't know where to start. Their prices are now astronomical. $65 for five kids to skate, with three of them bringing their own skates? Please!! The DJ has marbles in his mouth and talks 1000 miles an hour over the worst speakers imaginable in an echo chamber. Sadly, the information is important about what supposed to happen during the next skate. The place has turned into a timeshare presentation. They kill the lights and bring out a cart selling glow necklaces for five dollars apiece. There's a ton of pressure to buy them. We had three songs in a row where the lights were turned out. The kids who didn't have glow necklaces felt like crap. It was difficult to watch. The music was also the worst! Our kids along with the table of people next to us had only heard one of the songs. Absolute garbage song selection. We used to love this place. No thanks. read more

HORRIBLE FRONT LOBBY/ENTRANCE- There's NO AC when you're in the front lobby waiting to enter. You're in a stuffy room with a bunch of other super hot people, and if not- the line continues outside with no shade. Entry is a pain and super slow (probably about 15/20 min to even get to where you pay the people, keep in mind the session time is ticking already and you'll be kicked out in 1.5 hours wether you skated 1.5 hours or not!!) WRIST GUARDS- Told them I have a skin (medical) condition and cannot wear the guards and have been skating for 15 years. I signed the waiver before entry stating I understand and accept the risks and that the rink is not responsible for any injuries that may occur etc. I was approached by a DJ on skates who was not wearing the guards and told I had to wear them despite my medical issues. He brought me plastic gloves (because I stated latex was also not doable for me because I'm allergic. I wore them for a few go around and my hands were so sweaty- I was sure to have a flare up if I continued to skate with the humid gloves. I approached a staff member and asked if this was mandatory even with medical reasons, she stated she could get her manager for further questions- so I agreed to speak with him. He told me that because of insurance reasons everyone has to wear them, however the floor guard who gave my mine, was not wearing any. I then asked, "I signed a waiver before entering, why is it that I still have to wear the guards to skate here?" He responded "If the insurance people came in and saw someone without guards, that insurance prices would go up." REFUND- Not wanting to continue the conversation, as the time or energy was no longer worth it, I asked if I could have a refund since I had only been there about 20-30 minutes with half the time being with the staff. He then said a refund wouldn't be a problem ( as they were trying to process my refund, another staff member came up and said someone else wanted a refund for their pizza- shocking as they have the toppings, sauce, etc just out in the open on the counter with flies buzzing around). Anyway, unable to locate my admission purchase, I had to go back and forth to my table toward the back of the rink to get my debit card, then my phone (since it was Apple wallet I used to purchase), we finally found it. He said he refunded the money, but I wasn't seeing it. REFUND NOT RECEIVED- I stayed, sitting at the table until the session was over, since he told me to come speak with him if the money hadn't shown up. Unsurprisingly, it hadn't. I went back, and after stating I would not be skating here again, he still offered me free passes since apparently he couldn't do the refund properly. I haven't been here since I was a kid but I will definitely be back soon. Our party was PERFECT thanks to our party host Asher, and all of the other staff members as well. They decorated for us, and cleaned everything up too! They checked in with me before bringing out the appetizers and food which was wonderful, and really handled the entire events of the party and all of the kids as well. This is a fun place to go skate. We used to go here to practice in between derby practice. Went here with the family this weekend and had so much fun we took my niece and went back for the Tuesday $2.00 night. They put a disco light at a certain time if you come during night and also I got to pick a song and I got 500 tickets!! I'm not sure what everyone is complaining about, the place might seem old and dirty because it probably is old lol. Look where it's located as well. I'm just saying. My family comes AT LEAST once a week (usually Tuesdays) yes they have certain times for backwards or jam skate but that to allow the people the actually know how to do it for 1 song. My daughter requested a birthday party here and it was so much fun! They did an amazing job and didn't rush as our as it closed and we were gathering her what seemed like a million gifts. I grew up skating in Tucson and literally Nothings changed. We will keep coming! We have also met some amazing people there and my daughter has made friends with the security they call each other "buddy". Just go and have fun!! We came here on Halloween night after arriving at the Chandler location only to learn that they were unexpectedly closed (there were supposed to be open). Luckily, this Mesa location was only @ 5 miles away, and they were open until 11:30pm that night, so it worked out even better for us. Admission was only $1 per person on Halloween evening for those in costume, which we all were. We still had to pay regular price for the skate rental ($3.50), but at $4.50 per person, it was a great deal. The skates were ok; the wheels felt a little "off" but I was able to work with them. Nice rink and the music selection was good; they played a mixture of current pop hits to throwback R&B and pop 80s. I'm not sure if it was because it was later in the evening or because it was Halloween, but there weren't a lot a kids, which is a major plus in my book. The girls enjoyed the snack bar. They ordered pizza, pretzels, cotton candy, churros, and Icees. Prices were decent and not too over-priced. Also, there was a police officer on-duty and standing outside in the parking lot when we arrived. I still feel new to PHX. I don't know the areas and neighbors outside of where I live and work, so I don't know if the security was due to the 'hood, or just general practice. Either way, I did feel secure knowing that someone was watching over the cars that late in the evening. My biggest complaint here is that the employees' friends were on the rink doing some dangerous stunts (flips, handstands, etc while on their skates!), pretty much the whole night. It posed a risk to other skaters, especially the younger kids, and it encouraged younger kids to mimic the behavior. Not to mention, it's a major risk to whomever owns this venue. read more

First time here. Wow this place took me back to my childhood. I came here for a birthday party. They seemed to have a good system in place for multiple parties. They had tables assigned for each group, plus each group had their own server. I thought the server was very involved with making sure the needs were met for the birthday girl's party. Lots of cool music was playing plus if you are having a party you get to DJ and pick your song. The skate return area was a mess though. Zero organization with how the skates are returned. The counter was piled high with skates and just looked horrible. The neat thing is that they have little walkers to hold onto when you are skating. So cute and so safe. She does not know how to deal with situations such as an expensive pair of shoes walks out her establishment and instead of trying to act as if it was a concern she decided to make nasty ass pizza that was uncooked! And let me not get started on the 2 rent a cops and fake security that not only walked over to an active fight INSIDE the rink but wasn't able to control no parts!! Ridiculous! Oh and fyi there isn't any cameras outside so all types of crime can go on and nothing will be caught. It's 2022 and you don't have the capability to find a thief. I definitely won't be heading back! I went there on a Thursday Girls night and when I walked in the place smelt like straight up moldy cheese and feet. Then when we went to go walk in the guy giving the rental skates was very rude and giving us nasty looks. Not a lot of skate sizes ( had to pick the men size of 7 women's ) because they had no 7 women's. The floor was sticky and the place was very dark and sketchy. Then when we got on the rink for around 10 minutes and then we decided to request some songs. The DJ was chill at first about us requesting the songs and he rudely told us that we "reached our song limit". We didn't know that there was a song limit because we went there a long time ago and there wasn't. Plus back then, the employees were always open to the skaters to request songs. Also don't get me started on their "food". They should not be selling food if it's not even cooked. For example, my friend ordered two pieces of pizza because it was our dinner. One of the slices was literally raw. Like the crust was white and the cheese was not melted and it was cold. Then, we got some waters and it was literally like drinking from a hose. Disgusting bathrooms. The stall doors were so low and didn't touch the ground. The lock was the too low for the hole in the door and I had to hold the door for my friend so it wouldn't open. We got out and recently two of our friends got the "plastic skate helper", but we could only get one because they were so overpriced. So, our friends had to both hold on to it while skating. This doesn't seem like a problem to anyone because no one was bothered and they were being careful. But then the rude DJ ( who was out skating instead of controlling the music ) skated up to them and told them to stop! Then they found an idea to just pass it to each other. What I mean by this is they had to pass it to each other by pushing it on its wheels across the rink floor to each other. Then, the DJ decided to TAKE IT AWAY from them! Literally picked it up in the air while their hands were still on it and made one of my friends loose their balance and come crashing down on the hard cold floor. Even though WE PAID FOR IT with our own good money. Then, me and my other friend who is a better skater, decided to have a little fun and cross cross with each other across the rink while skating. And of course Mr. Rink Karen came along and said " You guys can't do that you could hurt the people skating". Last time I checked you are only responsible for the people skating in front of you and not in the back of you. Then I wanted to say "Who? Because I don't see anyone." There we're only like 7 people on the rink. This place deserves -7 stars for its disgusting food, overpriced stuff, bathroom, rude staff, and overall a horrible experience.
