Beautiful icy view during one of the most beautiful seasons of the year. The ice skating rink located in the heart of downtown Phoenix is beautiful. One of the most creative ideas to the valley of the sun. The setup is nicely displayed with a HUGE Christmas tree beautifully decorated that lights up giving a glow on the ice. I'm the middle of the street between two buildings it is definitely a glimpse of the east coast where cooler weather permits for this. Though beautiful I did not have the beat experience. The location had plenty of staff. Very young crew who only played around. My first encounter was the cashier which were two very unfriendly ladies who gathered $15.00. With no direction on what to do next I turned the corner where six employees talked and goofed off the whole time. As I arrived right at 5pm when they first opened for the evening they had plenty of time to horse around. I was given the wrong skate size once I finally got someone to help me. I returned the skates only to realize even with the correct shoe size they are the most uncomfortable skates I have ever worn. It was so bad I last only a quick moment to snag a picture and had to leave the ice. Sadly I was not alone as other people trickled in they complained about the skates as well. I returned the skates and so did my friend which had her first experience skating. Are skates were snatched out of our hand only to be told by an employee who works there that the skates they provide are terrible and they bring their own. I did not ask for a refund. I just left. I recommend if you decide to go there and pay $15 be sure to bring your own skates.

I've wanted to check out this holiday "attraction" for years and finally got a chance this December and glad I did. The several story tall Christmas tree adorned with lush decor and lights really gets you in a cheerful mood. There are plenty of oval shaped outdoor ice skating rinks around town, but you literally get to skate around this tree and sit around it as you take a break while watching families - all smiles - returning to childhood fun playing on ice. I had friends visiting from Quebec, so of course they had their reservations about the quality of the ice and sharpness of the skates, but I still really enjoyed just the idea of skating outdoors in Arizona. Yeah, the ice was a bit choppy and uneven at certain spots, but that's to be expected in non-ideal conditions for man made ice outdoors right? The light up LED snow flakes blinking over the rink flanking the sides of the Christmas tree were also fun. For $15, you get your skate rental and get to skate for as long as you'd like. You get a wrist band and can leave and eat dinner and come back and skate some more if you wanted. It does get pretty crowded as it gets later in the evening and it is tricky maneuvering around people who never skated before so you do have to watch out for that. This is still a fun worth-trying-at-least-once activity!

I would like to give my feedback on our skating experience. Skating rink is a pretty decent size, though the rink looks bigger in pictures when doing your research online. Not too crowded the staff did a great job with not over filling it. Good customer service. We found parking right on the corner of Washington Street & Central Avenue the meter charges $3 for 2 hours. My overall experience was great had a good time the kids enjoyed themselves.

Our 1st visit today ! They opened 5 minutes before 3pm, ticketing & wristbands went very quick , ice skate rent was also very quick and the 2 young kids working were very helpful and knowledgeable! My girls loved it! They do not have restrooms so go before you start skating , bring snacks , they do also have lockers !

$15 per person, Discounted price for student or military is $10. They only provide the skates but no socks, so you have to bring your own. The skate shoes are very uncomfortable. There is zero padding and cushion in them, my friend and I were skating for about 30-45 minutes and couldn't deal with the pain anymore. My friend got blisters from them but we had a lot of fun overall. Beautiful lights and huge christmas tree decorations all around us.

Very festive and a nice way to enjoy a winter activity. But as expected it's very busy.

Fun skating in the middle of downtown Phoenix. A lot of people that can't skate...at all. Good times!

I'm giving Great Skate the second star because Great Skate at least refunded 2 of the 3 grandchildren's fees since 2 of the 3 refused to skate once getting past the Great Skate entrance and seeing what it was like inside. I was there just to bring the kids. I did not skate; I was just 1) a Great Skate spectator, 2) the source of payment to Great Skate and 3) to be responsibile for the kids while they were visiting Great Skate. Nonetheless, I had to sign a Great Skate waiver and I was not allowed to sign the Great Skate waiver without providing an email address. I was more than willing to sign the Great Skate waiver, provide a driver's license, provide my passport, give fingerprints, whatever to just to get inside of Great Skate. But, because the Great Skate waiver is online I could not progress thru the Great Skate waiver without me first forking over my email address. Otherwise, I would be denied the ability to be responsible for the kids. Rather than wait outside the doors of Great Skate while the kids went in by themselves, I gave up my email address . . . just to sit on a bench and watch. Yep, now I'm getting spammed with a relentless barrage of Great Skate email solicitations. They are not about a good CX, just generating more revenue, bolstering the Great Skate spam list and managing data via a rigid Great Skate platform.

I came here for adult skate night with a girlfriend and absolutely enjoyed myself thoroughly! Adult night is really fun, with most people knowing how to skate (nothing wrong with people who are beginners), which made it a lot easier to gauge how others would behave on the wooden rink floor. Music was old school hip hop with a real good DJ and had me bopping and dancing along while we skated! I also loved the dimmed lights and strobe lights, which gave it a club like vibe instead of like in a classroom. I got in two hours of skating, and called it a night. Next time, hopefully, I'll stay for longer as adult skate is 3 hours! Admission was $14 and with tax, a little over $15. Rentals cost more but I dont know how much as I own my own skates. Great way to get your body moving, dance to some good beats, hang out with my gitlfriend and an all around good way to spend an evening! You know I'm gonna be back here again, just like when I was a kid. Gonna also take some lessons to improve my backwards skating and hopefully gain more skills for some fancy footwork on the floor!

Last night I…read morearrived to skate the Saturday 7- 9:30 pm session that had been advertised on the calendar, only to find there was a private function and I wasn't able to enter. I had checked the website earlier THAT SAME DAY to check the session time, and it was still being advertised. There was no notice that the rink would be closed to the public. No one knew about this. I stood in the foyer and watched them turn away whole families and a continuous stream of their regular patrons. This is such a disrespectful way to treat customers. Some of us have a very long drive to get there. My problem is that this wasn't a one-off occasion. THIS IS A REGULAR ISSUE. Multiple times, Mesa has failed to adequately announce closures and facility issues. Their website and socials are always wrong, and if you call to check, no one answers the phone. At a bare minimum, customers need to know when the business is open and when it's shut. That's a baseline operating procedure. There is no excuse in this day and age for not being able to relay reliable opening and closing times. If there is an emergency issue, that's understandable, but failing to notify people about a private booking is not. We just want to know when we can skate. Why can't you even do that? You fail before I even walk in the door.

This rink had a lot of dips and uneven surfaces. The DJ started out strong, with favorite hits from way back, but as the night progressed, the music and the vibe kind of changed to a slower pace. There is a concession stand as well as a game room. But honestly. this facility is not worth me coming back to. It's probably good for children. But definitely not for a seasoned gal like myself. Adult skate night is great as a lot of very good skaters show up, so you're in for a treat when you come. There may have been a few people that came that couldn't skate that well. Of all the rinks I have been to lately, I think this one was the most clean and aesthestically pleasing to me. I just wish they wouldn't turn on the bright lights too much. The DJ was kind of all over the place, so I didn't enjoy the music as much, but it was fun to skate and get some exercise in! I want to improve on my rollerskating technique and want to be able to skate backwards with ease, Im working towards that goal. I enjoyed coming here and I'll be back again. It's more pricy on adult night where it's $15 for admission, but honestly, a great bargain for 3 hours of skating. It's great places like these are still open, I know its not so hip to rollerskate, but I've always enjoyed it and will keep skating until I can't. I'm glad this place exist.
