I believe it was last year I did a consultation that I had to pay for. They the ghosted me and wouldn't be straight forward. The doctor reached out to me personally and apologized and told me to give them another chance. So in June of this year I went back and had to pay the consultation fee AGAIN. Its now been two months of chasing them and now they want to send me a quote for double what I was told. Thats it, im done. Do not go to these people. They are an absolute joke.

On the day of the appt, he called to see if the time could be moved up as he was feeling anxious about the appt. They told him to come in 45 min earlier than his original appt. It takes about 30 min to get there and we left in ample time. About 20 min into the ride, he received a phone call from them stating they were cancelling the appt because the dr was not in the office. Don't you think they knew that first thing in the morning? So I asked to speak with a supervisor and was put on hold. I turned my car around and headed home. After about a 10 min drive towards home, she came back on the phone and asked me if I was still coming up there. I said no what was the point. She said she couldn't get the supervisor but she spoke with the hygienist and she said they would make an exception to using the sedation and go ahead with the cleaning. I turned around and headed back to the appt. No sooner did I get off the exit and according to my GPS, we had 4 min to get there, my grandson received a call from them stating they had to cancel the appt as the machine was broken! I asked them to have a supervisor call me. this was at 11:15am. By 3:00 pm, I did not get a return call, so I called again. I feel I was getting the run around and left another message. The supervisor called me back a short time later. She was very apologetic and said she would get to the bottom of things and scheduled an appt for the following Monday morning (today) for 10:15am. She assured me that they would check everything and all would be good for his appt. So today we left the house again in ample time, got to the appt only to be told there was no appt for him! Did the supervisor forget to put him in the appt or did the office take him out? I told her to call the supervisor and talk with her. After speaking with her they put him on the schedule and we went to the waiting room. After waiting for about 20 minutes I went to the desk and asked when he was going to be called back. She said I'll be right back. I waited 5 minutes and she said someone will be out in a few minutes. Guess what???????? They cancelled the appt AGAIN because the sedation machine was broken!!!!!!! They handed me the folder with his xrays in it and a phone number for a different practice to take him to get his teeth cleaned with sedation. I called to speak with the supervisor and pushed the button on the phone for new patients. I was holding for over 30 minutes. Is this the way they treat new patients or any patient for that matter. I didn't leave any message. I called later and was told that she wasn't available and would have her call me back. That was 2:00. It is now ALMOST 4:00 and no call, so I called again and was told she left for the night as the office closes at 4:00 but the website says 5:00. This is not a practice that I will associate with as the staff in the office are not very organized. The supervisor told me that they prepare during the week for the next week to make sure everything is ready. It's quite clear this is not the case. Not only that, but the hold time for this practice is way too long for any patient to be put on hold. The practice as far as I could see was not very busy and the receptionist was not continuously having to answer the phones. So where is the problem? Not sure but I'm not staying around to find out. I am considering other options. I have contacted the owner of the company and can only hope he will call me back.

As I drove to Delaware to be with her, my wife searched for a local dentist. Thankfully she found White Clay. The entire staff was extremely caring, understanding, and concerned. They treated my daughter as their own. Dr. Ganfield has gone above and beyond in his care for my daughter, creating prosthesis when needed, and devising ingenious methods of treatment. His gentle, reassuring manner went a long way towards keeping our family sane during this crisis. The group goes out of their way to ensure that our daughter can get timely appointments that work with her schedule, and she doesn't spend much time in the waiting room. I wish I had such a dental group located near me, because I've never encountered a finer one. If you are looking for dental care in or around the Newark area, you can do no better than White Clay.

I stopped the appointment and came back the next week when a hygienist I'd been using for years was able to see me. She and I have always been on good terms. I expected her to apologize for the prior week's fiasco with the incompetent new-hire. But when I sat down in her chair, she started an angry tirade criticizing me for being so mean to the new hygienist! I was shocked. When I asked to speak with Dr. Young, she cold and unfriendly, more interested in protecting her young new-hire than in my needs as a patient. It was all so unprofessional and weird. I left vowing never to return. There are many excellent dentists in our area. I found one of them, in Middletown. No reason to go to this third-rate dental practice.

Honestly, as I write this, it is not very fun to recall, but I hope the Doctor will read this, and this will help future patients. Type of Care: Adult wisdom teeth removal Care Quality: To be absolutely clear, the doctor was excellent. The work he did was done very well, and there were no complications after the procedure. He was awesome and a great personality. Office Experience: #1 - walked in for the appointment, and they said we had canceled it. We never canceled it. People don't prep and show up on time for wisdom teeth removal appointments if they've canceled them. Their office staff had, from what we could decipher, been the ones who erroneously canceled the appointment on the same date and time that they had called us weeks earlier SOLELY for the purpose of telling us how much our out-of-pocket would be. There was no discussion whatsoever during the call about whether or not we were proceeding with the appointment. We were proceeding with it. The doctor, being a professional, thankfully managed to keep the appointment as scheduled. No problems there. Thank goodness, because who wants to prep and come back again to have their wisdom teeth removed?! Again, this doctor is very good! That leads to #2 - during that call weeks earlier, again the sole purpose of said call from them to us was to relay our out-of-pocket cost, the lady said the cost to us would be $50. $50. 5-0. We made them repeat that numerous times, and the lady said, "yes, great deal isn't it? Your insurance must be good! We'll see you on your appt date...Us: yes, we'll be there." Soon after the procedure, we got a bill for well over $1,000 out of pocket! After a lot of back-and-forth with the office and our insurance company, the cost came down to $900. In the end, this was the correct cost to us based on the way the office coded the procedure (coding...very impt factor - please take note) and what our insurance policy would cover. The office staff would not concede any miscommunication or misinformation on their part. It was both shocking and disheartening to be treated the way we were. So, just beware. Most important moral of this story is make sure you, as the patient, do ALL the research on how much your procedure might cost you out of pocket, because unfortunately, the office staff failed in that regard. You can't rely on their word. They do not know. They don't have any idea how the procedure might get coded, medically, in advance of it, and maybe the doctor and the nurses can't even predict that -- and that is what the office staff should have told us, but didn't. They should have been honest about what they knew and what they didn't, but they weren't. Their actions unnecessarily led to a lot of heartache, headache, and financial surprise.

Thank heavens for Dr. Erin Cox at Main Street Dental and the friend who recommended her. She called my mom back on her cell phone on the weekend, got her in for an emergency visit the next morning at 7:30am, and gave my mom enough help that my mom could wait until she returned home for her root canal (lucky Mom!). My husband and I then went to Main Street Dental for the rest of the 3.5 years we lived in Newark. The entire staff is very friendly, and Wendy the hygenist is terrific. Unfortunately for me, I somehow always ended up with substitute hygenists, so I didn't get to have Wendy clean my teeth until my very last visit, which was too bad, because she's great, and the subs weren't all quite so gentle--plus, it's really disconcerting to always end up with a new hygenist every time you come in (at least, it was for me). Dr. Erin does a great job cleaning and will clean your teeth if you request it. She did fill a few of my teeth, which was new--I hadn't had any fillings before going to her. But I felt she did a good job.
