They have aisles full of costumes, props, makeup, everything you could possibly need for a cool costumes..or even just home decor if you like year round spooky stuff like me. The store is massive too. I just wish that they had dressing rooms to try on costumes..I feel so weird trying on costumes over my clothes in the middle of the aisle, trying to see how it looks through my selfie cam on my phone. I have been going to this place for over 9 years. I work 12 hours a day and figured they would be open late on the weekend thought wrong 11-8. That is only 9 hours a day so if you work a standard job don't come here. They will not be open. I have bought all 3 of my kids plus myself all my out door decorations, smoke machines, fog, and home decor from this place. No more. I try and support our local bus diners and this bs of hours is what I get. I will buy them from Pinterest and Amazon. Your spook show yesterday was an epic fail. You usually have at least 200 vendors, bands, food trucks, etc. We drove out there from Orange County and there were only six vendors so we left. They have a lot of costumes, but a lot are repeats and I couldn't help but noticed a lot of costumes and accessories looked like they've been used. The warehouse is big and they have a lot of stuff yet I still think Spirit Halloween has more options, it's weird. I've seen more mask choices at Party City to be honest. Prices didn't seem cheap, but not crazy expensive, which is good. I just figured going somewhere that specializes in something like Halloween you'd think they'd have everything or a lot more choices. This is the best Halloween store ever! Yesterday, I attended the annual Spook Show Biz-aar for the second time this year. The event is free, & getting a ticket is really easy. Parking wasn't an issue either: I got a spot within 5 minutes. When I say that Halloween Club has literally anything you would need for this spooky season, I mean it. They have hundreds of masks, costumes, nic-nacs, decorations, party stuff, candy & more. They discounted almost all of their merchandise & made the entire store 35% off. I got dozens of items for under $20. The line was long, but it went quickly. The employees are really nice. There was a kind girl in front of the masks who helped my boyfriend get a Freddy Krueger mask. (I think her name is either Kat or Katie?) She did a good job, despite the fact she told us that she was a new employee. Shoutout to her. The exhibitors outside are amazing as well. There were at least 50 booths that had neat gothic merchandise. I bought a skeleton necklace for $10. read more

Oh my gash, this place has gone DOWN HILL. I used to come here every chance I got for new Halloween decor. Its been 4 years since my last visit. This place was a mess. There we boxes all over the floor. Badly taped up merch all along the isles on poor display. Dirty disgusting used items on the shelf for "sale". What HAPPENED to this place??? I was sorely disappointed once I started walking around thru the isles as from far away, it looks good but upon closer inspection of... almost everything, it's a mess. 20yr old merch in terribly beaten up boxes... When I first walked in a man sat there by the door with not even a hello. As I walked the entire store, every aisle I NEVER got a word from any of the employees. I came across at least 6-8 people besides the grumpy man at the door & the cashier. I did feel as though they were making sure I wasn't stealing, like they were watching me closely. Maybe they have a theft issue there, then they could get some cameras instead of making customers feel uncomfortable. This store is very large & does have a lot of inventory. Everything in this place is ridiculously over priced! We were looking at a child's costume, for an 11 year old, that was listed for $44.99...$44.99! We found the same exact costume at Amazon for $15. All the rubber masks are also over priced and can be found elsewhere for much cheaper. Also, the staff are just there to fill space. They do not know where the products are located. We spoke to 5 different staff members to guide us to where specific items were and none of them knew. We had to speak to management, a Middle Eastern man who was very rude! I visited the La Mirada location last Wednesday and had a ball! They have 1 1/2 isles of Plus Size Costumes and was able to review a few of the new designs for 2014 Season. My children and I have visited this store for years and it never disappointing. The staff was amazing and the pricing was less than on-line sites. Especially if you add in the shipping costs. The best part is that they have samples to most of the designs to try on. This will help greatly in choosing the correct size. *A worker is needed to assist in getting you a sample* DO go before the Halloween Season gets on a roll. DO bring form fitting clothes to slip on the samples easily over. They carry costumes for EVERYONE in the family - including pets! Some costumes are available up to size 4XL. Ask the store worker to show you the designs in your size. Be patient and give yourself time. There's so much to choose from and if you're there during the busy season it will be EXTRA busy. Ok, It has been a very long time since I have been here. I decided to finally take the family here to check out some Halloween stuff. I touted how big it is and everything they have. Ofcourse, this is based on what I remember from way back. Wow was this a big letdown... Back in the day, they had a TON of animated statues, huge props, tons of decorations and accessories. It was overwhelming and awesome. Today, they still have a lot of stuff but, it's mostly old costumes that have probably been on the shelf for at least 5 years. There are no child accessories, only adults. We asked, and this is what the guy told us. The few animatronics they have are sad and barely work. The decorations are still plentiful but seem to have also been sitting out a loooong time. Half the items I looked at were faded and dusty. The one good thing about this place is the mask selection. They have a ton of really cool masks. What is kind of sad and hilarious at the same time is, their clearance aisle. Its 2 huge aisles of really old shit no one wants. How long has this stuff be out anyway? All the bags are open, probably missing key items. The pictures are all faded too. Would you really wear anything in this aisle? Just burn it all in effigy. Now, I know the past 1 star reviews centered on the crappy customer service. I did not experience that here. There were a few employees that looked like they had a rough night though. Everyone else was pleasant. However, the girl behind the mask counter had no personality. She couldn't even budge a smirk, let alone a smile to the funny couple trying on the pug masks. I was watching them and it was hilarious. This chick couldn't wait for them to go away... One thing I found out after was, this store is owned by the Aah's novelty store chain. Aah's are pretty terrible and I think they don't really care about this store. The pop-up Spirit Halloween stores are way cleaner and have way more popular costumes. Party City also tends to have an excellent selection. Also, Home Depot is killing it this year with their animatronic stuff. Go there for sure. If I were you, I would try these 3 first. Every single person that helped us was wearing a smile... and I mean a real one, not a costume! So friendly and helpful!! We were given honest opinions and excitement over our decisions we were making which made our tough costume decision making just that much easier. Really was a pleasant experience! Which is not a weird thing for me to say since I freaking LOOOOOOOOOVE HALLOWEEN!!!!! But I will admit that shopping for a costume can be a tough experience at times. But the employees were great here and very helpful. I will always give this place a try. Lots and lots of fun decorations and accessories too! Huge outdoor and indoor items as well as fun smaller year round items (wink wink... you know what I'm talkin' about here). I could have spend a couple hours here! Oh... haha, that's right, I did! =) The only downside is that most costumes are the packaged kind.... but at least they let you try them on and they have PLENTY of selection (more than the other "packaged costume" stores). This store is close to my old work but I just recently venture to the store since it was Halloween time. Coming here, if you know Firestone Blvd. well, it's just a bit further than the Inn and Out. Upon driving here, they have a huge parking lot and I believe the workers park on the grassy areas. Don't sway upon entering because that's where people are driving out. Upon entering, you most likely will receive a coupon for your purchase. You can find other coupons like those pennysavers I believe. You'll need these coupons because the markup here is a bit high. However, on the fair side, the products are abundant. You can pretty much find everything under one roof which is nice. They have wigs on the left aisle, costumes most of the aisles, and party supplies towards the right, as well as large and expensive decorations towards the back of the store. I believe the owner is around this area also. He was very helpful (I'm not sure if he is middle eastern or pakistanian) as well as the employees. They display clearance items usually towards the front. This year, they have some Angry Birds costumes for $15-$18. I tried one of these on and it was huge! Oh, speaking of trying costumes on, this store is kind of lame in this department. You'll find tons of products that will display "Ask for employee to try on costume" So what do I do? I asked an employee. What they they say? "We don't really have a changing room, you'll just have to dress here in front of me" What? So changed I did. Note, there's no chair or mirror that is right next to you. Costumes aren't quite like a Tshirt or a jacket. It took me about 10 minutes to try on a costume. So this was not a pleasant experience to try it on. But if you really can't find what you want in the big box stores and have a few bucks to spare, I would say you might be able to find it here since they specialize in this kind of stuff. read more

I like this place quite a lot. Use to come here quite many times when I was in high school so it still surprises me that it's still here. As one of the few costume shops open throughout the entire year, this place is perfect to gather costumes for any time outside of Halloween. Not very crowded throughout the year except on Halloween (duh!). The place is a bit harder to get into, being in a remote business area directly parallel to the 5 freeway; however, because of it's remoteness, you'll almost never face a crowd (except Halloween). The workers are nice as they're usually bored in the off season. Well stocked and fun to poke around for costume parties and shenanigans. So here are the points to mind: 1. Open throughout the entire year 2. Large parking lot 3. Parallel off the 5 freeway (literally) 4. Big inventory 5. I called the store, asked if they had an inflatable costume in stock and the guy on the phone ASSURED me that he had them in stock. So I'm super excited to save Halloween for my daughter and I get in the car and drive 30 minutes to this ghetto store. I get there and ask a nice young girl where the inflatable costumes are. She kinda laughed and said, "we don't have any of those, we are completely sold out"... The young lady went on to tell me that the dumb A$$ on the phone wasn't even at the location and was answering the phone from a different location. Also, the store is ghetto as hell! Let me dispelled on what he didn't write and expand on a lot more of what you can expect from this place. I really think he gave a crappy review and being uninformative at the same time. With Halloween around the corner, this would be THE place to be for all the props, costumes, and other accessories to make your makeshift garage into a haunted house. This place is gigantic! It's like a huge a*s warehouse with inventories of nothing but creative sets that would make Paramount Studio prop department envy. There's rows of selves of just makeups alone. You would bumped into another row of ghost masks. Then there's smoke/fog machine for sale. They even had audio equipment for creepy howls. There's even mechanical moving statues to complete your haunted castle if you want. It doesn't have to be all Halloween because they also sell fantasy costumes like kids mask, costumes, or robes. Heck, I think I saw a suit for Sponge Bob Square Pants.Everything you really need to complete your Halloween binge is located in here. If you have to go, try to avoid week nights on a week before Halloween. In my experience, it's a total madhouse. Parking will be plenty because there's other businesses in the surround area that have parking space too. What's worse is the crush of people trying to get in to the place. Trust me, they actually formed a single line where you have to follow the arrow from one line to another.....all just get to the cash register. Yikes! There is another pitfall, the place is located along the 5 South Freeway. If you were coming from Orange country, you're taking 5 North, you'll need to swing around the overhead pass and get to the other side of the freeway as this place will face the 5 freeway. The street is a service road that is parallel to the freeway and many people complain about finding the location. So google it before you head out. The price is OK. Compares to what they had to offer, I think it's the same price you would have paid at any big costumes shop. This is alot better with many different items to suit your Halloween need. If you are comparing it to Target..don't. Target has no where near the props or cool items this place would serve. Plus I noticed that the price is not any cheaper at Target. Oh, about the guy complaining about the $600 rubber zombie in his review. Check out the zombie, then decide for yourself if it would cost that much. That was a very elaborate item. read more

BUT their prices are also very high. You come here for convenience, not the deal. Some of the generic costumes are also sold in Party City for half their price. The only knock i have for them is their manager at the door. They didn't have any "sock monkey" costumes. So after looking through the whole store with the friendly staff, we decided they were right. No sock monkeys. As we were leaving this Indian guy says, "what, you don't like our prices?" No dude, you didn't have what we wanted. Maybe a class on customer service would be beneficial. I love that this is open year-round. Unfortunately, I always end up waiting until the last minute to get my costume(s). This place can get pretty packed when others scramble for their last minute costumes as well. I like their recent expansion, but it can be a bit crazy when it comes to parking. You can usually find a costume you've had your eyes on here. Thankfully, you get to see the costume outside of the packaging so you know for sure what you're getting before you buy. For example: I fell in love with the white Princess Leia costume online and checked it out here in person. I found out that it was made completely sheer, and the "cool" belt was an absolute plastic mess (this plastic problem also foiled my Slave Leia backup costume idea). I wish they had changing rooms because putting costumes on over clothing sometimes backfires on you when you go home and the costume ends up being too big. Customer service is alright. The employees aren't necessarily the sharpest tools in the shed (there's a few exceptions). The owners or whoever (the middle eastern people that are randomly dispersed throughout the store) are accommodating which is nice. They have a room in the back for damaged goods where you can sometimes get a deal on something you can repair at home. The prices are a bit high however, so I usually try my hardest to find a coupon for a deal. They seem to only send coupons to you in your junk mail, so you have to plan ahead. I asked a cashier if they happened to have an extra ad or anything because I was spending hundreds of dollars, but she scoffed at me. I saw a 40% off promotion on Yelp so I drove 30 minutes to the store and spent an hour buying stuff and then when I checked out, the employees acted like they had no idea what I was talking about and called the corporate office or something, ultimately telling me that they could not honor the yelp promotion which is ridiculous. Now I understand it's not these poor employees fault, they are probably being paid nothing and they certainly looked miserable to be there so I blame corporate.
