For one, I felt the staff here was the nicest and most helpful, and unlike the other two, this one actually had 3 staff members helping people, while the other locations usually only have 1-2 staff members around, which makes it really difficult to ask questions since these places can get really busy. Also, like the other locations, we went to try and sell our used Legos. What I liked about this location is that you have make an appointment if you're selling a fair number of Legos, so you're not waiting around since it's not uncommon for others to come in and also trying to sell their used Legos. When we got there, we were greeted and were even taken a little earlier than our appointment. Also, we went to another Bricks and Minifigs and got substantially more than what was offered at the other location. This will definitely be our "go-to" Bricks and Minfigs from here on!

The store was a bit of a mess, but I guess that's typical for a Five Below. By the way, why is it called Five Below when so many items are priced above five? Anyway, when I went to check out, I stood where it said to wait, thinking someone was checking out, but it turned out to be another employee just chatting. She waved me over without saying a word, finished her conversation, then scanned my items. She asked if I wanted to buy a reusable bag but didn't tell me my total. Instead, she just looked at me and then at the machine. I checked out without so much as a "thank you" or "have a good day." Meanwhile, she continued her conversation about politics and her broken vehicle, complaining about the government. Honestly, it's frustrating. You chose to work there, not me. I just expected a simple greeting and a total at checkout. It was pretty pathetic, especially since these weren't young girls--more like late 20s. I won't be returning, and I can see why they're struggling to hire.

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to learn tufting for the first time!! For those new to tufting,…read moretufting is essentially a texture manufacturing process where you insert yarn into a base fabric to create rugs. The lesson first starts off with choosing a simple base design. Our instructor specifically recommended a design with simple lines and colors to make it easier for our first ever rug, which was around $70. Using a projector, you will trace your image onto the fabric as a template for the rest for your work. Before starting with tufting, we then moved onto a mini tutorial on the ins and outs of using a tufting gun, from yarn insertion to how to create straight versus curved lines. Keep in mind you have to put a lot of pressure on the canvas to ensure that your yarn is being threaded correctly. Going through several practice sessions definitely made the transition to the entire tufting process easier. Starting our rug, we soon recognized how difficult and time consuming the rug tufting process was. Even simple design like ours (a cartoon dog) was a long lengthy process than anticipated and we ended up spending 3-4 hours for completion for one of the smaller size rugs. We were recommended to start from the inside out and using one color at a time, inserting lines of yearn about a fingers width to ensure completion of our rug. Though we initially struggled with creating finer lines, we eventually got the hang of it and were able to successfully complete our rug. Our instructor transitioned us into the final process, teaching us how to trim our rug and prepare it to take home. Personally based on the instructor teaching and supplies available, this class was well worth its price point. Overall, I would say tufting is an impressive skill that I learned for the first time and hope to come again to create more designs!
