This little show is located on Story Avenue and is very senior mom and pop feel. You walk in and the place smells of moth balls and 1950's, but the costume selection is pretty decent. I think the owners made a lot of the pieces themselves, so please try on everything to make sure there are no loose seems or holes. However you do get a lower cost with the more mom made quality. A weekend rental for a full costume and all accessories (which includes any wigs, hats or jewelry) is only $65 and $60 a piece if you get a couples theme. The owners are very nice and accommodating and carry many sizes. Although, I couldn't find a bit more provocative Cleopatra they had many costumes that I may come back to view or rent if the time calls. I definitely will not count this place out in my costume search. Make sure to call ahead, since they sometimes have odd hours.

We were at a D56 signing event and purchased a ton of houses, one of which we were told to come back and get later, for it was a retired display. I forgot...this was 4 - FOUR - years ago. Popped in this past December to pick up a Snowman house that my daughter wanted, and sure enough, they remembered me, mask and all. They brought out my house, faded receipt, just waiting on us. That's honest business. For that alone I will always shop with this group. Again, staff is friendly and knows their product. I have referred countless folks to them and will continue to do so.

When we took it back to the store (on 9/30, more than a month before the holiday) and explained the issue, the sales staff was not empathetic and told us because it was holiday merchandise they would not take it back nor offer in store credit. To make matters worse, they stated this had never happened before and implied the problem must be with our address. My advice? Do NOT shop local. Hit Hallmark or a big box store. You'll be better off.

I used to have to pick up balloons a lot when I planned events, and I know the time suck that can come from someone slowly inflating several balloons. That was not the case at all here. They were friendly, and asked me questions about when my party was to determine if the balloons needed to have Hi-Float in them to last longer. I also got to peek at the rest of their selection. I've had mixed to declining results and, with this last visit, I am done! The customer service has always been weak and now I'm at the breaking point. Because I have limited time each visit, I try to email a list of what I'm looking for in advance. Management either doesn't check their email or simply don't care. Last week, I called twice and unfortunately got the same person who thoroughly discouraged emailing in favor of coming in because "it would be easier" and "they don't have time to look." Easier for whom? Certainly not the returning costomer. Since they're close to the airport and I had time, I stopped in anyway on Fri. I spoke with who I believe to be the owner and he also wasn't too interested in making time to check books that he said he had in the back that were recently purchased. They were apparently getting ready for a sale the next day and possibly making a sale in the moment was clearly not that important. They made a copy of my list, took my name and number and said they would check. I made it clear that I was leaving Mon, today. As of 1:00, no call. So I called the store. The clerk who answered has no idea I'm talking about and was very dismissive, and the owner isn't there until tomorrow. They don't talk their employees anymore than their customers. So, that's it. I've had it with them and won't be going back even if they had the hardest to find book on my list. One of the worst shops I've ever been to for customer service. Shame on me for having given them multiple chances to do right.

Hearing of this special Halloween section me and my wife headed out to check out the shop. Wife and I are helping our daughter's eighth Grade class plan a haunted playground and we needed supplies and decorations for the haunted playground. The set ups and decorations they have here we're all very cool and different from other Louisville aria and Indiana area Halloween specialty shops. They had a very nice and large mask area that was really cool and has very unique and different Halloween mask for costumes. The store is medium size very well kept. The service on this trip was well they helped us find what we needed. Also I left with about 12 cans of silly string some carnival related decoration such as clown horns and other carnival props. Overall this is a really cool place and a fun place to browse and check out all the cool Halloween decorations, costumes, masks and supplies. Me and my family will likely make the short trip from Louisville to Jeffersonville Indiana for the future years to check out this place during Halloween season.

I was pleased to browse the aisles and find that they were chock full of unusual, traditional, and more educational toys than I had found in the toy sections of the big box stores where brands like Barbie, Transformers, Paw Patrol and Stars Wars make up the bulk of the offerings. The toys were thoughtfully arranged, as if by age, and employees are ready to help with your selection if need be. Prices were in line with those of online specialty toy stores that sell these types of toys. Free gift wrapping is offered, which is a huge relief for those of us who do not enjoy gift wrapping! And like my other experience, I found this Playthings to be a great locally-owned toy shop. The prices were fair, and it excels at having educational toys and brands you might not find at the big box stores, which I very much appreciated. My son is into dinosaurs for the moment, so I went on Playthings' website and found a great set of dino figures. I was able to buy it online for local pick-up, and the icing on the cake -- I got it wrapped for free. Free wrapping is a service Playthings provides. I also want to commend Playthings on their great customer service. I ordered this right as the ice storm was starting, and they called me to see if I wanted to still pick up that day. The employee I talked to was concerned I would come out when they had closed early. I picked up the toy a couple of days later. Especially if you have kiddos to buy for, don't overlook Playthings.
