Great selection, if overpriced. Worst. Service. EVER. I went to this store with my boyfriend on a Saturday evening before a costume party in the hopes of putting together a fun and unique costume. The first girl who greeted us was awesome. Really nice, asked a lot of questions, seemed like she generally didn't hate her job or her life. Which was great. I specifically went to Halloween Town because I was short on time, and I was hoping to meet some awesome associates who might have some good or interesting ideas... you know... because they work there. All the time. The first girl - let's call her Legit Associate - walkied some dour-faced creature from the back and asked her to show us where the costumes were that I might be interested in. Okay. So I launched into the same shpiel about how I was going to a costume party that night and had only the most vague of ideas for a costume, and that I was looking for some input. The only response I got was the sound of crickets as the blank-faced associate wandered away while I was still mid-sentence. She made it pretty clear there was no conversation to be had, so fine, my boyfriend and I perused the aisles of costumes, taking our time and enjoying ourselves. Very quickly thereafter, it was brought to our attention that we had been misinformed about what time they closed when Miss Cranky Pants came over and said we had 5 minutes before closing time. We apologized, said that we had our information wrong, and that we would hurry up. Again, I asked if she had any ideas and said that we were trying to figure something out. She vaguely gestured at everything behind me and then disappeared, only to reappear minutes later to babysit us and herd us towards the front of the store. Now, let me just say this - I HAVE WORKED IN RETAIL. LOTS AND LOTS OF RETAIL. And I know how much it sucks to close on a Saturday, and for some oblivious customer to come in last minute, and for them to slowly eat away at your evening. I GET IT. But that's your job... you are employed in a line of business of which this is just a hazard of the trade. It is PERFECTLY acceptable to politely remind the customer that the store is now closed, and that they need to make their final selections. It is NOT acceptable to hover over the customer, tap your foot, and check your phone repeatedly, all the while LITERALLY hemming and hawing and making a huge production of sighing as if your life is now a melodrama. The feeling of panic that came over me in those moments is basically undescribable, except to say that that's what it was - sheer and inexplicable panic. I grabbed a few items of clothing I had been pondering, my boyfriend helping me pick out accessories at a blind and frenzied pace (I told him we had to go after she cornered me and said ::SIGH:: "OKAY, I'm going to need to ask that EVERYONE moves to the front. Now." ...as if this was a discussion and I was arguing with her...). We made it to the register, where Legit Associate was working with her manager to close up the front. Their manager rang me up while Legit Associate asked me if I had found everything I needed, to which I think I muttered something along the lines of "Yes, yes, fine..." I don't think I have ever been so eager to get out of a store in my life. Not to mention I ended up spending a ridiculous amount of money on a costume that looked pretty good, but was not extraordinary, and was certainly not of a quality that justified an almost $200 bill. Now, I know that most of this is basically just a complaint about one associate and her customer service, and I wish that I could see past that one associate to appreciate all of the other awesomeness that the store could possibly have to offer. But honestly, I'm more than a little annoyed that she put a damper on something that should be a lot of fun - getting ready for an awesome costume party on a Saturday night. Like I said, the selection was decent, but everything was definitely overpriced. I might be willing to go back eventually, to see if the store is usually stocked with the Legit Associate variety (hopefully Miss Cranky Pants is the exception to the rule when it comes to their staff), but it probably won't be any time soon. read more

Wow, worst Halloween experience. The employees follow you around the store like you're trying to steal something. It was a very uncomfortable experience. Also, the prices are not that great. Expect to pay more than retail at this store. Good luck!! read more

This is one stop shopping for Halloween or a ghoulish party you want to have anytime of the year. If you are also into dark creepy stuff this place is for you! Huge inside..you can spend hours wandering the darkened store. Prices are typical..and the quality of the stuff they carry is much better then most Halloween stores. read more

Love the decorations customer service is alright . One thing I did not like is the fact that you cannot try on the costumes in a private place like you seriously have to try them on over your clothes and in front of all the other customers that is so stupid ! I Purchase a costume for my kid at the Halloween Town kids and notice a blood stain on the back of the costume tried calling to see if would get resolve but the manager apparently was to busy to talk to me! Worst service! Never shopping here again! Over price and not even in good conditions they should be more careful especially because it's for kids! read more

Pretty nice selection, but the prices are almost double what you'd find at Target or Amazon for the exact same costume. Throw in the ridiculous "no cell phones under any circumstances" policy, and I'll just shop somewhere more realistic. read more

Worst Halloween store ever. You can try on a maximum of two costumes, over your clothes, in front of other shoppers. Staff is NOT friendly or helpful. Costumes are coming apart, see through, and all around cheap looking, but are very pricey. Not a nice environment. Will NOT be back. Treat your customers with some respect! read more

This is one of my favorite shops in town, and I spend a lot of money here, but even so, a lot of employees pre-judge you. I look pretty preppy some days, but love horror movies (from all decades), including stuff like the Munsters, and love going out to industrial clubs. Even so, until i dropped some knowledge about 80s horror movies regarding the merchandise i was buying, they pretty much nearly ignored me/pretended I wasn't there. read more

The workers here are extremely rude and aren't helpful at all. This small Hispanic woman putting out stock saw us and was rude and dismissive in her greeting. At one point we had our phones out. We didn't know we weren't allowed to take pics and instead of just telling us we couldn't do that, she was very rude and spoke in a very negative condescending tone. The sad thing is I was coming in planning to spend a lot of money for a movie I am working for. Being in the film industry, it's my job to scout out great locations for props. They just need to be careful who they offend. A bad attitude towards customers is never going to help your business. read more

I love this store for the same reason I love the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. Its a totally immersive environment. You open the door and step in and feel as if you've traveled into another dimension. You are transported outdoors on a spooky Halloween night with a creepy haunted mansion directly facing you. Take your time, wind your way around the shop and not only do you find every gruesome get-up imaginable, you can find lots of really cool and kitchy things. I visit this place often, cause I love the atmosphere & selection of items. Some of their stuff is a little pricey, but in a world where everything is available online, it's fun to do your shopping in a store where it's Halloween all year round. I think that's worth supporting. read more

This is such a fun duo of stores. One shop is devoted to everything you can think of that is creepy and scary the other (a little ways down the street) is devoted to costumes. Serious costumers may be a little disappointed in the selection but if you're not looking for authentic period garb then you are in luck. I prefer the non costume shop myself. Fantastic art, books, oddities, a great selection of t-shirts and jewelry are some of the things you'll find here. Super fun place to visit. read more

I really enjoy this place. The interaction with a lot of the staff is minimal unless you're buying something or really needing to find something. A lot of the stuff they sell is overpriced but overall it's a fun store. I love Halloween so it's great to get a chance to be around the holiday stuff anytime of the year :) read more

Absolutely love this place. If I had a million dollars I'd spend most of it here. Co-owned by Rob Zombie, and the other co-owner is a really nice woman. Staff is always very helpful but not invasive. Sign up for their newsletter for events like art galleries and things like that. There's so much cool stuff here, and they carry Queeny's (sorry dear if I misspelled that) purses and art, which I adore. Horror books, movies, gear. Awesome costume selection at their new costume location, which is literally right down the street from the main store. I might actually just use the costume stuff for everyday wear XD I always do. Horror wonderland! This is the spot to visit for some of the best eye candy for those who fancy the "darker" side of films, sitcoms, books. They have it all! I visit for my horror t-shirts. I will admit the guys have all the super fantastic designs. But a girl can surely also wear a guy's t-shirt. I love their decor. It is pretty much like stepping into different sets for each section they have. WONDERFUL place. The pricing can vary from reasonably low to moderate and pricey. But, you will find the items are well worth it. I live in the city of Burbank and am so proud to have such a wonderfully themed store within 10 minutes (driving) from me. I highly recommend it if you are in town, looking for some t-shirts, books accessories relating to horror. read more

never knew I would look so hot in leg warmers like that girl from flash dance... okay I should have never said that, well that's what one by stander said while I was browsing through costumes and thought I check them out. Hey it was Halloween, no judging please! I didnt buy it though I picked up a John McCain mask instead then went off to my Halloween Party later that evening wearing my jumpsuit I had picked up at a army surplus store the previous day and played off being John McCain P.O.W., mind you this is a several days before people voted Obama to president, so I got it bad at the Halloween Party. I actually was dragged on stage and came in second place for Most Scariest costume, I lost to a zombie vampire... I think that's what he was, seemed pretty confused on what costume to wear and just put on the past two years Halloween wear to make a brand new costume, genius I say. They house a crazy huge selection of costumes and accessories. Everything is well-organized. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The only downside is it's on the pricey end, but, hey, beats Spirit. read more

For Halloween lovers this store is fantastic. Everything from coffin style light switches to skull purses...anything that's a little dark and macabre is here. If you come out just know it is a little pricey. Some items are marked up a few dollars but there are other items that are ridiculously overpriced. I love this place and stop by every now and then. You can go anytime of the year, even in April and experience Halloween. The place has an ambiance when you walk in. Dark. A great selection of things from costumes to memorabilia, lights, collectables from scary films. Even art paintings and light fixtures to Disney's Haunted Mansion themed items. Highly recommend checking the place out if you're in the area. It may on the pricier end for some people, but not too outlandish. read more

I didn't realize it was open all year round?.....Wow!! If you love horror movies, costumes, art, then you have got to visit this store, it's unreal!! They have art prints for sale at the back of the shop, cool t-shirts, Jewelry, all kinds of horror / spooky things. Rob Zombie even has his own brand of coffee for sale here!! The first time I walked in I was in love with this shop, I had to return a few days later to purchase an awesome art print for a gift. I will be back in the weeks leading up to my birthday!! I was in here on Saturday night, I needed bunny ears for a costume theme party I was attending and I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of 1 because they have a good selection of costumes...too bad I'm still going to give 1 star. You can't try on the costumes to see how they fit on and they failed to mention to me when I was paying at the register that all items are for final sale so you can't return them regardless if they were of use to you or not so customer care and service is zero(sigh)...So now I have these humungous bunny ears I cant even use, the only person that can use these ears is if they have a pumpkin for a head. As a fan of Halloween and horror, this place ranks #1. As a fan of great customer service, the same rating applies. I was lucky enough to find Halloween Town when I first landed in LA in 2012. I was even luckier to get a job there for the season. Seeing both sides of this store cemented my love for it. The owners have a true passion for what they do, and they care about their customers, as well as their employees. The costume store is fantastic, and has anything you can fathom. Masks, wigs, props, hats, prosthetics; you name it, they have it. But I have to admit, the novelty store down the street is why I love Halloween town. They have movie posters, books, toys, clothes, oddities, jewelry, movie memorabilia, original art work.... It's just the best. I no longer work there, so don't think I'm writing this with ulterior motives. Halloween Town is perfect for the lover of horror, Halloween, niche hobbies, cult tv shows, and anything remotely eerie. The only draw back is that it can be pricey, but I can look past that. Shop local, and support your community, darn it!!!! 'Tis the season for costume/decoration shopping, so head there now. I freakin' LOVE Halloween decor. We went here after going to Yummy Cupcakes and before going to Frenchy's. Because El Senor Picky loves Halloween. And I love buying Halloween related crap. They also sell Dia de Los Muertos stuff (which, personally is overpriced...go to Olvera Street instead.) Soooo much stuff. I found an awesome Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! shirt which I will be wearing to work. The staff was pretty nice....okay, the girl with the awesome glasses was cool and helpful. The guy who rang us up was a little too...eh....stuck up? He reminded me of going to Vinyl Fetish on Melrose when i was 14 and looking for Dead Kennedys records and getting dirty looks for asking for them; but thats a whole other trip. 5 stars for the nod to Clockwork Orange Milk Bar and because they sell the larger Indian headdresses that Ive been lusting after for fifteen bucks. read more

While yes this is a fun and unique Halloween store. I give them credit on that. But it is true at least 70% of their stuff is Overpriced. and the 30% isn't bad (But that's on the unique items only) I wouldn't buy the outdoor props or toys here.
