Just imagine a store thats like Hot Topic, Spencers, Spirit Halloween and your local comic book store under one roof. If you are looking for some creepy spooky gothic Halloween stuff, then Halloween Town is the place to go. They have toys, t-shirts, books, socks, jewelry and what not from many horror movies and TV shows. You won't be disappointed at all. I've been wanting to check out this place for a very long time and finally made the trip out to do so today. I was a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews. But I am absolutely so happy I did. The atmosphere is amazing with way things are set up and it being darker in there. This is honestly how I wish all Halloween shops were set up. All of the employees were nice that I encountered and helpful. Some stuff was pricey but alot of stuff was priced pretty much the same at other places I've seen. Love this place. They're open year round so you can get your Halloween and spooky fix any time you want, but obviously visiting in October is ideal. In addition to the usual Halloween decorations you might find at a pop up store, there's a huge assortment of pop culture goodies on sale, too. From horror classics, cult tv shows, to vintage collectibles, there's a lot to gawk at and you can easily spend an hour here (if not longer), depending on how thorough you want to be. And while the merch is fun to look, what really does it for me here is the layout and atmosphere. Suffice to say, it rules. I love this store, I love t-shirts and recommend it to EVERYONE I know who is a horror/ Halloween enthusiast. As far as the pricing is concerned, these folks are a brick and mortar business and due that fact I understand that what I am about to purchase is going to cost more than what I could've found online. But then again, shipping would offset this cost and waiting 6-10 business days for shipping wouldn't be fun. I love that they're super sanitary during these times. We arrived at 6:05 pm on a Saturday. They close at 6:30. At 6:10 they started closing down sections and flickering the lights. At 6:15 started telling people they were closing and they would have to leave (including us). The store had quite a few paying customers at the time. If I owned this store I would have fired these employees who were in such a hurry to get out. Yearly I have spent hundreds of dollars at this store - not any more! read more

The store is cool but the employees are extremely rude and unwelcoming. I didn't know there was a no beverages rule and i walked in with my coffee. I totally understand if a business doesn't want you bringing things in and normally I would have just walked back out to my car and left my drink in there while I looked around in the store. Unfortunately the employee at the front desk snapped at me immediately upon walking in. It's very easy to nicely inform someone of a store policy but he just made me feel terrible and completely unwelcome. This used to be one of my favorite places in Burbank. but not anymore. I was a little frustrated with my shopping experience. As a safety measure, they were having us wear our masks of which I had no complaint. As we were roaming the store, one of the employees asked my husband to lift the mask over his nose. He obliged {even though he was irritated} and we continued shopping. After that brief encounter--the same employee proceeded to follow us around the store. Typically you can tell when someone is doing their job or following you, but clearly we were targeted from that brief encounter and followed around. At one point, she asked if we needed assistance and I said politely--no were fine. I should have asked her why she was feeling the need to follow us. I've never been harassed while shopping and this was a little ridiculous. We ended up spending over $300 in that shop and used to visit frequently. HalloweenTown has officially lost our business moving forward. Check out other small businesses online or shop somewhere else. read more

I like to support local and small businesses, but not when the local places rip you off so blatantly. Please note you'll be paying twice as much than the retail price for majority of items. This is why they don't want you taking pictures. Retailers would see their $12.99 toy being sold for $25, etc. I saw the Halloween 3 figures that you can buy for $55, being sold for $125?!? I think the prices are praying on the thirsty and desperate. You can do what I do, go and see the item you want in-person, then just buy it online. Which in most cases will still be less than what Halloween Town sells things for. The owner and manger are a bit sketchy too. Saw them in action the other day well checking stock, and the employees definitely seem anxious around them. I get the vibe the employees are the only ones that actually like Halloween. read more

I read the comments here about the Trump supporter owner stuff, which is off putting for sure. But aside from that, I personally did not experience any bad attitudes from staff when I walked in. But like others say they are picky about the phone photo policy, but I didn't walk around with my phone out, there are reminders within the shop though. The reason it's getting three stars from me though is because it doesn't have any home decor? And yes the stuff is pricer than normal. And nothing too special that you can't get at a party America/city or spirit halloween. The store is great, all the horror stuff you could ever want. HOWEVER!!! Nothing is scarier and nastier than the horrific hand sanitizer they make you use before entering. Listen, I'm all for the masks and the sanitizer,1000000%, but good lord, people!! Did you make your own concoctions out of opossum butt holes and skunk nut sacks? Geezus Christ! It smelled so bad we ran out to wash our hands at the nearest restaurant. Even the employee gave me a "yeah, I know it stinks" look when we asked her about it. Cmon guys! Go to Spirit stores animatronics fun but,this store is way more fun to large amount collectables, costumes and decor. Costumes are in separate side business, under the same name and owner. Both are huge and has wonderful displays everywhere. Prices are a bit high, only con. Definitely a place to check out. read more

I'd really like to give this place one star, but I just can't. I can't because this place has EVERYTHING that you can imagine. My review stars went down the second we parked our car in the parking lot. The older man that works here that was outside saw me taking a picture of the cute parking sign that was in the new parking lot and rudely told me to put my phone away. NO PICTURES ALLOWED!!!!! Now, this hasn't been my first time here. When this place was down the block a little before it moved and they separated the stores between costumes and props, I knew it was no pictures. They are very strict about that. I don't know why, but they just are. Minus one star off the damn bat. I felt like a criminal inside this store. Workers everywhere watching every move. Three guys at the door making sure you aren't stealing. Please. I'm not twelve nor do I want to steal a plastic mask. And it would be quite hard to steal anything. What am I gonna do, shove a huge Halloween costume bag in my purse that can easily be seen? Phuleeze. I did appreciate that many workers that were kind, asked if we needed help, etc. I just find it really odd that you cant try any of the costumes on yet they don't allow returns. All sales are final. How do you know how it really looks especially for the girls? That leaves me very weary on purchasing an expensive costume here. Last year I bought a really nice wig from this store that I still wear and plan on wearing this year as well. They have good stuff. But I didn't like the fact that my husband had to try his costume on in front of them, and they had to open the packaging up for him. Again, we aren't twelve. I do have to say, they were quite nice about it. I took my cell phone out to Yelp something about this place, one of the cranky older women told me to put my phone away. NO PICTURES! If you would have waited to see what I was doing, you would have seen that I was indeed doing something else, not taking a picture of costumes that I can also buy elsewhere. Guy at the makeup counter was super cute and helpful. He showed me how to put on the eyelashes (without actually putting them on) and told me about the Ben Nye makeup that I had been looking everywhere for. He's the reason why I gave a star back. He was a delight to deal with eventhough I didn't buy anything. Gahhhh! Like I said, I just can't not like this store. They seriously have everything and everything that you need and some of the coolest stuff, but they seriously need to lighten up a tad. I don't see why pictures can't be taken, I understand it cramps up the room, slows it up, creates groups of people that distract the actual consumers from purchasing, etc. Let's just not be rude or mean about it. Keep the signs posted, if you really see people taking pics, then go over to them and confiscate or do whatever you need to do to make sure that the rules are followed. I still looked around and found some pretty awesome merch that I'd wear or decorate my imaginary haunted mansion with. Actually, when I walked in there was a statue of one of the hitchhiking ghosts out front that was taller than me (I'm 5"3' on a good day). LOVE THIS STORE! The workers are great and they sell EVERYTHING BUT the Manager/Owner is RUDE and straight up MEAN to customers! I drove all the way down from San Diego to pick up a fake axe for a photoshoot we were doing for a magazine. I knew that they had it and I loved to support this place when I can. The manager replied with, "We cant go pick it up its at our store a few doors down." When explaining my situation she replied with "UH...NO we're too busy." and walked off scoffing that I'd even ask. Normally as long as you know exactly what you're buying they will go over and grab items from the other shop no problem. We've done that for makeups I've bought there in the past. This was a single item. I totally get they are busy this time of year so I told them it was no rush and that I'd come back a bit later to give them time. Came back about 1-2 hours later and still nothing. 6 workers and not one could go get the item? I understand its not the workers fault but a store like this isn't interested in building a community. Halloween Town is spread out to three adjacent stores - one has costumes for adults, one's for kids & pets, and one's for decorations & apparel. We had time so we visited all three. The store for kids & pets is the smallest so if you're in the market for costumes for either you're probably better off elsewhere. The store for adult costumes was ridiculous in good and bad ways. The good is that it's really big and filled to the brim with costumes, masks, hats, and make-up. No matter what you're looking for, chances are you'll definitely find it here. As for the bad, as others have said, Halloween Town is horrendously overpriced! There's hats for $95! What?! Some costumes have triple-digit prices with the same quality you'd find at pop-up Halloween stores. That's highway robbery! The cream make-up tubes are a rip-off as the tubes aren't even full. My fiancee wasn't a fan of the lack of dressing rooms. If you want to try something, you have to put it on over your clothes in front of everyone. Not too practical... The store for decorations & apparel was the most fun to walk around. It was more open, had less people, and the employees weren't stalking you like at the adult costume store. The decorations were cool to look at and there's loads of cool collectibles but the prices are still steep (even their "clearance" section). Overall, Halloween Town has a good selection of Halloween-related costumes and items but it's overpriced to hell. Also, they have an odd no photo policy that they're really uneven in enforcing. Some people took pictures with no one hassling them while others were practically scolded & shooed away for having their phones out. Very weird policy/employees. If you can't find parking in their small lot, you'll have to park on the street. Halloween Town is surprisingly open year-round so there's no rush in checking out their stores. read more

There are 3 Halloween Town stores on Magnolia, sure the decor is cool. Hard to miss when you drive by. But I honestly can't understand how they expanded and they stay in business all year around. It's very dark inside, hard to look around. There are many people working in the store, snooty, having private conversations. They keep some merchandise away, hard to check out (wigs) like it's the Holy Grail. The selection isn't amazing, but very pricey. You can't return or exchange. You can try max. 2 costumes only. If the sales person opens it for you, there are no fitting room, so you put it on over your clothes. Yes, ridiculous. Pretentious, overpriced place. Not a fun shopping experience as you'd think. The higher end costume items are being phased out for cheaply made seasonal items that are expensive but break easily. This place is great for browsing year round. They have costumes, props, decorations, and other themed knick knacks. Masks, artwork, memorabilia, etcetera. They recently opened up another store located 6 doors down in prep for Halloween. I walked thru one section and felt like I was in Frederick's of Hollywood. When did it become tradition to just throw on some lingerie and call it a costume? Lame Cool Disneyland memorabilia in the back room. The layout of this place is pretty unique too. It's like you're wandering through a mansion with all of its separate rooms. I was browsing around the store and the lights went out! I thought it was all for the effect, but it ended up being a power outage and we had to leave. I would really like to give this place a good review because it's in a nice location and the inside is kinda cool, but unfortunately the bad outweighs the good. The customer service is absolutely HORRIBLE. The staff is incredibly rude and will follow you everywhere you go. They also act like it's a chore to help you. The worst of the staff is the lady with the glasses behind the register and the tall skinny guy with the thin dark hair. If you're there, ask help from other workers or just go elsewhere tbh. Great place for collectibles and other goodies, Most of their items are overpriced but they do have some deals if you spend the time to look for them, however, the staff is bland, unfriendly, and downright discriminatory. Me and my family!!! were actually senselessly KICKED from the store because the employee didn't know how to handle a CUSTOMER COMPLAINT. They treat you like a second-class citizen and as though they are doing you a favor by allowing you into the store. I have made several $$$ substantial purchases at all of their locations and the experience has yet to be a positive one because the people working there act like they don't want to be there and they definitely act like they don't want you there. There is no happiness there to be blunt. I am extremely disappointed with this establishment and that's a shame because they do have great STUFF. It is a shame because I and my family have been living here for generations and if this is how they treat local people then I can imagine how they treat others.
