I was taken back to see her NO ENTRY WITHOUT A MASK sign on the front door. I briefly thought that perhaps the owner just had not taken the sign down from over a year ago. I entered the store and was just standing in front of the door looking around at all the beautiful items that were for sale. A woman come forward from the back of the store and stated we don't allow entry without a mask and proceeded to direct me to the little mask station she had set up to the right of the store. I was shocked and taken back! All the lies and propaganda came running through my gut again and I simply stated "I do not buy that narrative", and turned around and walked out unable to purchase the book set. She has a right to set restrictions as I have the right to not comply. If she is that ill or sensitive to germs perhaps she would be better staying home or having customers order online. My sense is that continuing these restrictions will cause her business to fold as there was not one other soul in the store. Upcycle Parts Shop is so many things, but first and foremost, they are a nonprofit promoting creative reuse of everyday objects. There's too much cool stuff piling up in landfills. Upcycle Parts is changing that. Upcycle Parts is a donation center, shop and event space. On Thursdays and Saturdays you can shop the store and mostly everything is under $5. The amount of treasures is astonishing. On their website, they have a full Donations Guide of what they can accept. You can also attend events here to challenge your creativity, like making flowers, totes, wreaths...the sky is the limit with what these talented women come up with. Forget throwing away that old jewelry you're not wearing, donate it to the Upcycle Parts Shop for it to enjoy its second life as something else.
