The color wasn't great (kinda brassy) and he took me in the lobby for better light -- my roots were still showing in places. Then he took me inside and was like, "since I'm new here, you get to name your own price. My rates are usually $... for a root touch up, and $... for a cut." Can't remember the exact numbers, but his normal price was close to $500 for both of those things. Maybe that's normal for this area, but I've never spent that much for a touch up and trim. And there was this awkward interaction between us where I was like, "I don't want to insult you, but I've never paid that much for my hair..." And he suggested over $300 and I was like, okay... which is still more than I've ever paid for my hair, but I'm not from this area, so again, this could be completely normal. I think the negotiating part at the end just left me feeling scammed. It was definitely my bad for not asking up front about pricing, but I was not expecting that cost and it wasn't the best hair experience I've ever had either. I guess I could see paying that much if my hair looked amazing, but it was just okay.

I was not ready to relive the emotions again. How dare you ! I was going to keep other details out , but why don't I share them. The day of my wedding which was that weekend , I was getting bombarded with phone calls because apparently they lost my credit card information . They were desperate to get a payment. Payment I couldn't make the day this all happened because the power went out. My husband had to take the calls and explain to you we were on a plane trying to get to our wedding destination. Hours from getting married, all you could do is call non stop to collect a payment. It's not my fault everything was handled so poorly on your end. I was nothing but nice and kind to everyone at the salon. Money was never the issue. It's clear to me now you portray to be a high end salon when in reality your actions show that you have no clue how to treat your customers nor are trained to handle this kind of situation. At the start of the appointment my stylist repeatedly made faces at my requests, which made me un-easy, though I tried to stay open minded throughout the appointment. Unfortunately, the appointment started 15 minutes late and ran over by more than two hours. During that time, the stylist also took another client, and later admitted that part of my treatment - which should've been done during the foiling process - was skipped because that client arrived while I was still processing. I requested light brown - caramel highlights, but instead received dark chocolate brown low lights with a blue-black color layered over the top. My scalp is tinted blue and was told that the highlights appeared darker because I was "over-toned". I was also told the color should hopefully wash out over time. I was shown the results outdoors with a hand mirror because the highlights were too hard to see indoors - yet even in sunlight they were barely visible. I asked for a price adjustment, as I was charged $84/hr and the appointment went significantly over the scheduled time. I was also charged an additional $54 for a haircut that took less than 15 min to complete. While I was given the slight adjustment, I still paid $364 in total, even after the adjustment. I still tipped, as the stylist spent a lot of time on my hair and I could tell she was trying to achieve a difficult color correction. I've gone to many stylists over the years and understand the challenge of lifting a box black dye to blonde or even light brown for highlights. I felt she made a strong effort in that regard and wanted to acknowledge the work she put in - even though the end result didn't reflect what I asked for. I was offered a future appointment to correct the highlight color, but was told I'd have to pay another $100+ for the stylists mistake. I've decided to cancel the appointment I'd made for September. I regret booking it in the first place, but I already felt uneasy asking for the price adjustment and didn't want to make things more uncomfortable - especially since they stayed late for the appointment. I would ask for a refund or partial refund, but fear I wouldn't get it as I could hear them whispering when I asked for the price adjustment. Definitely scheduling elsewhere to have what was done to my hair corrected.
