The area has historically suffered from disinvestment - including a lack of quality jobs and business opportunities, quality gathering spaces, quality food, and art and cultural opportunities. The investment that has occurred in the area has often not been designed for the benefit of those living in our community. In 1999 in response to the suggestion of some residents in Esperanza's housing developments for a local version of the bustling markets that they had left behind in their home countries, the idea for Mercado La Paloma was born. The one food vendor that you might have to wait for is Holbox (Michelin 1 Star). I went over the weekend and the food vendor stall had a separate line dedicated to the shop. Took about 40 minutes get to the front of the line to order. Parking: Paid parking can be found in their private parking lot and free parking on Grand and surrounding neighboring streets. Ambiance/Decor: Pretty cool ambiance with plenty of tables and chairs inside outside for your dining pleasure. Shops/Food Vendor Of Choice: I haven't visit any of the shop vendors stalls, but I've visited 3 (Holbox, Taqueria Vista Hermosa, and Thai Corner Food Express) out of 6 food vendors stalls. All the food vendors that I've tried were very good. Mercado La Paloma For Thought: I would mind coming back to try other food vendors.

Komal has delicious food and is the expert with masa and tortillas. Oaxacalifornia has the best selection of agua frescas. There's Thai Corner that I have not yet tried but want to check out. Taqueria Vista Hermosa is great. There's something for everyone and the ambiance is always bustling. Parking can be difficult if you're visiting during busy hours on the weekend.

It's actually interesting to see a diverse crowd hang out here compared to back then when it was nothing but Korean people. The first floor retains most of the stores that existed back then too; Music Plaza which always had an insane selection of Korean music, the quaint coffee shop near the food court, the stationary store and bookstore near the elevator and of course the Food Court itself. Has the best prices of all sorts of Korean cuisine out there; I always gravitate towards the Dddukgook (Rice Cake Soup). The H-Mart used to be the mall's own market (called Plaza Market). I was a small kid back then, but it's quite congested as a grown adult over 6 foot tall. The layout is exactly the same from back then and I love it. There used to be a very tiny bakery next to the H-Mart on the left, but they have a much larger bakery on the right. The decor is still that same 80s-esque pink and teal tile, which I hope they never change. The second floor used to have this toy store that used to sell all sorts of Power Rangers and Pokemon toys. I miss it dearly, albeit I believe it was very overpriced back then lol. I believe it's the mail store now. The third floor used to have this appliance/electronics store called "ABC Plaza". It had literally everything from USA albums, Korean appliances, and a whole section for Japanese import games. As a kid it felt like paradise. I believe it's now turning into a gym, which is cool in itself. My wife bought me some Pokemon cards from that toy store near the food court, and it reactivated all my memories. Please stay around, K-Town Plaza!

The elevator has a 4-person limit and going over that will cause the elevator to become stuck and beep very loud (which is so sketchy). The permit listed on the elevator expired in 2023 as well. It's always lively and bustling with younger AND older generations of Koreans plus plenty of non-Koreans looking to explore the culture! As someone who has lived in Koreatown his whole life, this place is a pillar of Korean-American culture. By the way, cell reception is completely non-existent in many areas of the mall including H-Mart and the food court. Restrooms are on the first floor.

A modern public market in the sunny OC city of Stanton, CA about a beat away from Garden Grove... DJ play the title album by Sublime (1996). An abundance of eateries: Tenori, Shoots, Ramen Nori, Phoholic, LA Street Eats, Kra-Pow, Here and There cafe, Chic Now and Blue Bowl to name a few. Plenty of choices for everyone including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free "nom"tions/options. Anything from Thai, Korean, Japanese, French and Mexican cuisine to American, Comfort Food, Dessert, and beyond. Capo Craft Brewing is the best place for beverages of all types, a full bar, mocktail friendly and a great selection of brews as well as guest craft beers, ciders and seltzers. Lots of seating in various places in the form of tables, chairs, benches, bar area seats, loungers and more. It's very open and fun to navigate. Great shops and stores like 2nd Street, Nail Boss, Skin Design Tattoo, WNTD and others. Dog friendly. Family friendly. Free Wi-Fi!! Great event days and nights: trivia, live DJ sets and karaoke nights. Group friendly. Heated outdoor area. Pick up parking for curbside as well, which I haven't seen at a public market before. Restrooms are modern, with hand dryers next to the faucet and soap dispenser very 3-in-1, all sensory based. Parking is there, but can be a bit of a journey on a weekend, it took us a little time to find some when we first arrived. EV spots available. Lots of great spots for a selfie or group shot. We met some many different people outside of our group: other friends celebrating the week, families and some recent college grads we all congratulated :) Go Class of 2026!! Don't forget the best photo opportunity at K Photo Lavie!! Fun props of all sorts to enjoy, including glasses, hats, signs, etc... I do worry about how often they clean these items... but super fun none the less... just be mindful. Open from 11am until 9pm daily, 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays only, however Capo stays open til 11pm on (Friday, Saturday), which is where we ended the night. Such a fun time Fridaying with some of my favorite Yelp peeps and human beings, Sarah, Alyssa, Miori and Gabe. Highly recommend exploring this poppin' public palace! I don't think I go out of my way to visit the Grove, considering the distance and the difficulty of getting parking. Huge crowds, have to pay for parking, and even if you walk farther away, it's a risk to get towed and there's metered parking too that hit a 2 hour maximum, at least the last time I went there. Aside from accidentally wandering in here or being here for a specific event (seeing Yoshiki over a decade ago or the 20th anniversary Rilakkuma pop up, which was absolutely fisted with people), I've only wandered here on accident when hanging out with friends elsewhere. There's a good number of shops and eateries though, especially since it sort of shares the space/is right next to the Farmer's Market (great open area to go shop and to go dine). Large overlap of the same shops and eateries as the Americana, but there's things there that we don't have in Glendale. Lot of higher end businesses. Big fan of the La La Land Kind Cafe and what they do, their drinks, and their aesthetic. It's not a bad outdoors mall, considering how "fancy" it is, the fact that it's outside in the California sunshine, and the fountain with the Bellagio style musical water shows, but just know that the parking can get hideous.
