I can't compare my system with others because I've only owned a Halo 5, but I will say that I am spoiled by having one. I had my Halo 5 installed in 2016 because I needed a system that would protect my 1951 house existing cold water pipes and cast iron drain pipes from limescale damage. I am trying to get the most out of my pipes before I have to repipe and I have had zero pin hole water leaks since the unit was installed. As for the drinking water? I love it! We purchased a new Halo 5 which was is installed in our new construction home. Within a month or so it would not stop running water down the drain after a regeneration cycle. After many attempts to reset the filter, the company provided me a new main valve at no cost. The people at the customer service line and technicians are very friendly and helpful. However, the warranty only covers parts and not labor. My brand new unit was not functioning and I paid $208 to replace the valve. This unit was well over $3000 installed and I can't believe they are warranty for parts. Leave the customer in a very bad spot. I would not buy it again based on the warranty they are not really standing behind their product in my opinion. This is my own personal opinion of my filter in my house. read more

Overpriced and does not perform. A plumber sold us this system when we needed to have some old copper pipes replaced. He said it would solve our hard water problems that were damaging our pipes. We live in Pasadena CA where the water is very hard (20.6 grains per gallon). After thousands of dollars for the unit and the install guess what our water hardness is. If you guessed exactly the same as without the system you would be right. It might be doing something, but it is definitely not solving the problem it was sold to remedy. Whatever it does cannot be detected by a Hach Labs kit. I know you are saying, "But look at all the 5 star reviews!" Just take note of how many of them are from plumbers. Based on how hard this was sold to us my suspicion is that they get a very healthy markup. This is a profit center. Halo does not publish a price for the system so that a quick internet search makes it hard to comparison shop. My advice for hard water treatment is to go with a proven ion-exchange system (which is what we finally did). Use the money you would have spent buying this system to buy an ion-exchange water softener, new dishwasher, new clothes washer, and then fill the tank of your F-150 because you will have saved that much money by choosing another system, and that system will actually work. Response to the response: Fair enough. This is just my experience. I can say that my espresso machine did not see a significant benefit from this system. Neither did my pipes. The attached photo shows the inflow and outflow fittings (before and after "conditioning") from the Halo 5 after we had it removed. It was installed by a licensed plumber and authorized Halo dealer. These were brand new about a year before the photo, installed as part if the replacement of the main 1" pipe supplying our house. I am not saying it did absolutely nothing, but I am questioning the value of the "conditioning" as it relates to the cost. What we experienced, and what I would expect is similar for others, is that it is a decision made in a time of stress, when you are having significant plumbing work done, and there is not a lot of information on the internet available to help you make an informed decision. A plumber is standing there telling you that you need this and you should decide right now to avoid having to have work done twice should you later decide to "condition" your water because it will be more cost effective if you just do it now. So, I offer this review as a chance for that customer to count to ten before deciding. read more

Don't waste your money. I've had this for almost two years and it's been a joke. We spend more money for better "investments". Our water sucks, leaves hard water spots in the shower, on the faucets, the toilet's, the drains and everything else around here. I bought a new dishwasher because our old one wasn't doing a very good job. I felt confident that a new one would be better especially with the new halo system. Nope! Still the same hard water spots. We spent way to much money on this ($5300) and had high hopes. It's garbage. I will be buying an actual water softener. I haven't had much help from customer service either. We have had this system for approximately a year and a half. All our toilets, sinks, water dispenser in refrigerator, and faucets now have hard water stains (no stains for 20 years with traditional water softener.) My skin itches all the time and is so dry even though I lotion up after every shower with a proven dry skin lotion. My hair is brittle and my hairdresser has to add extra conditioners just to get a comb through it. I didn't have this problem with a traditional water softener. I would not recommend purchasing, not worth the money. This system was supposed to be worth it in the long run. We spend more money on cleaners to get the stains off of all the toilets, sinks, water dispenser in refrigerator, and faucets. I spend more money on body and hand lotion to try to resolve the itching. My skin has dry patches all over it that I never had before. I go through a lot of hair conditioner to try and managed the brittle ends and finally give up and have to cut several inches off after a couple months. This system is definitely has not lived up to its advertising since day one. I put up with for this long, but I have to do something drastic soon. My skin can't take the itching. read more

5 years ago we built a home and had a plumber install a halo filtration water system. The day we moved in I tasted it and it was disgusting and it turns out it was installed incorrectly by our plumber. Within minutes Linda called me back from Halo and I can't say enough about how helpful she has been. She is extremely knowledgeable and got everyone involved even the founder of the company and they all called to help figure out what was going on. She even mailed me out water testing kits and now I was to see where the filtered water was coming to the bathroom faucets but not the kitchen. This company is one of the best organizations I have ever done business with. We purchased a Halo Ion 9 when we first had the opportunity to add one to our house. It worked so well, when we moved to our condo in 2018, it was one of our first purchase. The product works as advertised and should be rated a 10 out of 10. The service staff is even better and a 20 out of 10 isn't enough. When we thought a problem was developing I called the number on their website. After explaining the situation, the service staff contacted her supervisor and asked if I could send pictures. I sent pictures and within less than an hour received an email offering to send a replacement. This process was easier than imagined, prompt, and the result could not have been more satisfactory. We have horrible water in Las Vegas, we were having calcium deposit on our sink faucets/spickets, after we installed our Halo water system the calcium deposit started going away and our water was good enough to drink. If this system is capable of accomplishing that and maintains free also not have to lug around bags of salt. The Halo 5 system cannot be compared to a conventional "soft water" treatment system. They are two completely different systems. A soft water system adds salt to your water. You should not cook, drink or water your landscaping with a salt system. The Halo system does not use salt. It is installed as a "whole house" treatment system. As a contractor, I am often replacing my customers salt system with the Halo 5. read more

I honestly loved my halo five and was promised at least 10 years it's been nine and I'm already starting to lose the carbon. You know this because you don't get the black gunk coming out of your pipes. I live alone I'm not used anywhere near the water that they say for a family of four would be 10 years or more and the system is already starting to go. $5000 and it doesn't even make it to the 10 year mark and I'm living by myself using minimal water. So far I have had the system one week and while the water tastes fine, I still see spots on my dishes and shower so I dont see that it is solving the hard water problems. The cost was not insignificant at almost $4500 for the install. The plumber at Done Right did a nice job but still has not done water chlorine test. I do agree that the manual should be reviewed prior to install and have the plumber go through the details beforehand. Make an informed choice. I recommend reading their posted "Best Practices" after install before buying so that you make an informed purchase. For example, it says if you want your dishwasher to clean your dishes after install, run your sink water first until it is hot to help make sure your dishwasher water is hot. Also says to only use dry soap. After reviewing this and reviewing all their literature on-line, we decided not to buy as it would not meet our needs - which is to filter out the sediments, etc. read more

i purchased a halo system 7 years ago from Cole's plumbing they came to my house one day to replace a faucet then decided to test my halo system with the water test then said i hope you are not drinking this water you need a new system i said but its a ten year warranty but it don't cover everytihing and order a new halo 5 for $10,000.0 which is going to hurt my finance i am 74 years old live off my retirement check then i read a article said they just needed to change the filter which i was never told once befor the system started leaking and the halo co sent a part to the plumber to fix it and amoung other problems i do not think i will buy another one will find one much less and where problems can be fixed and i will not be scammed out of $10,000.00 read more

I have a Halo Ion In-Line Water Conditioner installed by a reputable local plumbing company about 5 years ago. The first unit corroded after 2 years. We are so unpleased with Halo 5.We have had plumbers out so many times because scale has ruined our appliances. I have almost zero hot water pressure. It takes over 1 hour to fill a bathtub. I am currently on a well and have had a lot of issues with my water over the years. It came to the point where I was literally worried about bathing in it for too long. My plumber recommended Halo water systems as a solution. He told me to consult with the manufacture first before we could move forward. I called and spoke to their very knowledgeable well water specialist and he was beyond helpful. He explained he could sell me a well water test kit or have me buy one myself from a 3rd party well water testing company before he could make any recommendations. I used his recommendation of watercheck.com, he said the basic option was fine. It took a while to get everything in order but eventually we got the prefect solution for me (UV light, iron filter and Halo 5 Stage filter, and RO under the stink). I am very happy with my water now and feel safe and worry free about drinking and bathing in it! I was impressed with the knowledge and expertise that was offered from the manufacturer and I am glad I went with a Plumber who had a lot of knowledge on wells and had worked with Halo water systems before.
