We were hesitant to come based on how few Yelp reviews there were (later found out there's a ton of great google reviews!). When walking by Hambrusia on the way to La Miserable mezcal bar (which is next door) it looked a little quiet. The bartender at La Miserable highly recommended Hambrusia for its gourmet tacos and even offered to have them brought over to the bar! However, we declined this option and decided to eat at Hambrusia itself, where we could enjoy the art on the walls. As a vegetarian, I was pleased with the veggie taco options. My boyfriend ordered some ahumado salmon dish and the torero taco, both of which he said were incredible. Maybe the best taco he's ever had. Prices were a great value; a little "high for Mexico" but an absolute steal compared to San Francisco. This place could make a LOT more money in the Bay Area. Service was also attentive but not pushy. We highly recommend Hambrusia!

Great Tacos! More of a new wave taco restaurant. Very unusual combinations, great sauces, nicely presented, with great congenial service. The prices are quite reasonable and the portions are generous. I was expecting street taco size but they are larger than that. I ordered a lot thinking they would be small, but boy was I wrong. I am still glad I did because each one was so delicious and unique. We had smoked tuna tostadas, kick ass longaniza, shrimlorio taco, and a chichapulpo tostada. I will post the menu for the details. Also had great margaritas. The ambience could use a little work, IMO. The dining room is little more than two picnic tables pushed together and a small metal table with two chairs by the front window. We were somewhat hesitant to enter as no one was there and I never take that as a good sign. However I am glad we decided to eat there. It seem like they are new and building the business as they have a courtyard in the back that isn't in use and the ambiance to me was somewhat spartan. All in all worth a stop for an excellent Mexican meal with a modern twist.

This place was exactly what we were in the mood for during our vacation in La Paz. When we first passed by there weren't many people in there, just 2 girls dining in, but my friends decided to give it a try and wow were we pleasantly surprised. We didn't know what to expect, but we left very satisfied. I had the margarita which was perfectly refreshing! The tacos (which were not traditional at all) were delicious! Good customer service, good food, good drinks, good vibe. I loved the music they were playing, was surprised to hear Pulp in the rotation. It's a common space, so there are other little shops, bar, businesses. When I was there, I curiously walked through the hallway leading to the back and found a woman teaching some children how to play guitar. The main dining area is a little small, but we didn't mind. Overall happy with this small restaurant.

The torerita taco and the tostada de atun ahumado were phenomenal. I need this place in my hometown.

Hambugesa Wagyu, (2) Chiccarone Ribeye tacos and Sirloin taco. Mmmmmm. If you're heading down to La Paz soon (or there already), I'd recommend this place over any other that I've tried during my stay. Our friendly server Roberto wheeled out a giant blackboard with the food menu on one side and drinks on the other. He also answered our questions about the tacos that were unfamiliar to us. To start, we ordered the queso fundido con chorizo. It arrived at our table bubbling hot - check out my video- with a mix of warm corn and flour tortillas. I'm guessing the chorizo was housemade because it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended. We also got some elotes-style corn that was so sweet and lightly charred. I also selected the gaonera, suadero, and chicharron ribeye tacos. All had great "over the coals" flavor tucked into fresh, soft tortillas. Make sure to save room for dessert. I got the fondant de chocolate. Our server advised it would be a 20-minute wait, but it was totally worth it - beautiful presentation with a molten chocolate center. Good value and great experience!

It's a beautiful setting, their attention to detail is readily apparent. Modern and masculine with just enough rustic features to remind you they're cooking meat over flames, you immediately know that you're in for a treat. We had bone marrow served with refried beans (Who knew this was a killer combo?!?), Caesar salad (fresh and traditional), fish tacos (savory and snappy with zest), elote (maybe the highlight of the night, perfectly prepared tender corn oozing with flavor), whole snapper roasted over mesquite, rib eye (perfect medium rare with crispy rendered fat)...oh man...what a treat! Probably my 6th time here over the last decade and they've always been good. They now might be at their peak. It's expensive, likely one of the most costly meals you'll have in La Paz - we ordered wines, drinks, multiple apps, entrees and desserts - and spent around $100 US each for a dinner that would cost twice as much stateside. If you like fine dining, this place is an absolute must.
