Finding a burger isn't hard to find especially in downtown San Francisco. There are lots of places to go when it comes to fast food places like McDonald's ( some just go for the happy meals) and there is Burger King ( who says there are no kings) and then there are those still waiting for the Jollibee to open on Market street for about a year. There is a place which seems out of place inside in Downtown San Francisco. It has a picture on the wall of Kenny Rogers ( RIP) and the decor looks like I stepped into a Time Machine decades ago with analog electronics . This place serves poutine like a Canadian bar in Calgary and has hamburgers tastier than all surrounding fast food places and local chain stores and its name is Spanish for Hamburger and it's called Hamburguesa Bar. On a Downtown stroll I landed at Hamburguesa Bar on 2nd street off Market street. Inside felt like Deja Vu with a bar which reminded me of a time I was in Missouri around the Ozarks at bar with a similar vibe. You will hear country classics and rock and roll classics playing along a television which looks like it was in a pawn shop decades ago. The ambience was interesting along with the food. I felt excited ordering the All American tavern burger since America turns 250 years old next month. The buns were soft and the beef was juicy and it was tasty and not too cheesy like some in SF. I then crossed north of the border into Canadian cuisine territory and had the poutine. The hand cut duck fat fries were crispy and it had flavor and the cheese curds weren't too cheesy and the rest of it was all gravy. A good place to grab a North American meal. Feels vintage although this restaurants opened in 2026 it is "new"they sell cheeseburgers and "brew "this place decor has different old San Francisco POV also known as "Point Of View" It feels like I am somewhere else but it feels like "Deja Vu" Hamburgesa Bar feels like I stepped into a "Time Machine" when the sun always shines on a "television screen" grab some Americana food and Canadian "cuisine "like their tasty cheesy "poutine"

Dim ambience, cocktails, shakes, burgers and fries. Hamburguesa Bar is one of the best burgers i've had in The City with delicious fries & the perfect place for casual eats in a nice setting. Will definitely be back!

Loved this spot for so many reasons. I came here with a work crew for lunch. Heard that there were some timing issues when HB first opened, and it seems like they worked out the kinks. We found a booth big enough for our group and were approached fairly quickly after we arrived. Once we ordered, the food came out in a reasonable time. The ambiance wis fabulous. Legit diner 80 bar with midwest vibes as confirmed by an Ohio transplant in our group. Music was loud so don't expect to get any peace and quiet. And the food... so delicious. Most of our group order the $8 Hamburguesa. I was worried that 3.5 oz. smashed patty wouldn't be enough but it was the perfect amount. The crisp skirt on the patty was season well and the pickled jalapeño and queso fundido brought more depth. The buns were so soft. We all shared the duck fat fries which were addicting. Great for lunch but we all had to run off to meetings. We didn't really get to explore any libations. We all agreed that we need to come back after work to get the full beverage and food experience.

$8 smash burger? Say less. Beware -- parking is practically nonexistent. We arrived right at peak lunch hour around 12pm and almost every table was taken. Service was quick though, and the low-light ambiance with music playing gave off cozy tavern bar vibes. We ordered the Hatch Chile burger, Hamburguesa, duck fat fries, and an Oreo milkshake. WOW. The burgers were seriously tasty. I do wish I had added another patty to the Hamburguesa, but the pickled jalapeños and queso paired so perfectly together. The Hatch Chile burger was also packed with flavor -- definitely recommend if you want something with a little more chile kick. And the duck fat fries? YUM. Hot, crispy, and dangerously good. Last but not least... an Oreo milkshake at a bar?! I was blown away. It wasn't overly sweet, super creamy, and topped with whipped cream. Honestly the perfect palate cleanser after all the savory food. Still shocked at how well a bar executed both burgers and milkshakes. Wish it was in a more accessible area, but I'd absolutely go out of my way to come back again.

After 2pm is a great time to avoid the crowds for a relaxed leisurely late lunch. It really does have a small tavern feel at that hour, with almost everyone eating at the bar. Love the small simple menu. El Reno Smash Burger: So it's not like those extreme smash burgers that are paper thin falling off the side of a plate. But it's definitely flat and crispy on the edges. Love the mustard-heavy approach and the really cheesy cheese. Black Label Tavern Burger: Even though I've fully embraced the smash burger trend, I think I prefer their tavern burger. It's thick and quite umami with all the mushroom and truffle. The cheese is just the right amount of fatty and gooey. Poutine: Huge portion. Thick hand cut fries that do a good job soaking up the generous amount of gravy. Lots of cheese curds, though they were a little on the melty side instead of squeaky side. The chef must real love white pepper, since that flavor was dominant in the gravy. Duck Fat Fries: Without the poutine, these aren't quite the same. They're not really crispy; which is fine when covered in gravy but standalone not so great. Taste was fine, but texture could have been better.

The food here is delicious! I ordered El Reno and it was flavorful, cheesy, and not overly greasy! usually after a burger I feel bloated or gross but not with this one which I really appreciated! I shared the duck fat fries which I feel were a great sharing size, they are definitely fat fries making them more filling and were super tasty! However, you cannot add anything to the burgers, you can remove ingredients but not add - not crazy about that! They also only have mayo/chipotle mayo/ketchup. No ranch which I thought was a big miss! Not a lot of personalization you can do here so what you see on the menu is what you're getting! Service was fine, nothing crazy! I came in on a busy Friday for lunch. They definitely need some sort of sign asking people to wait to be seated or a hostess for when it's busy. People were just waltzing in not knowing they had to wait (us included). Ambiance here is cool and causal. Only downer is the music was WAY too loud. It was difficult to have a conversation with someone at the same table as me (1.5 feet apart) still had to lean in and shout to hear eachother. Very overstimulating and was a bother during the entire experience

Hamburguesa Bar is a fantastic newish smash burger spot from the same team behind Pie Punks (an excellent Detroit style pie shop across the street), and it already feels like a welcome addition to the neighborhood. I stopped in right at noon and managed to snag a seat at the bar, though the place filled up pretty quickly over the course of my meal, which is always a good sign. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, and I went with their recommendation for a first-timer: the Hamburguesa, their classic smash burger, paired with the poutine with duck confit added on because why not. Everything was excellent as the smash burger had that deeply crispy crust that any great one should, and the queso and chipotle mayo added a really nice creamy richness that played perfectly against the slight kick from the pickled jalapeños. The poutine was also outstanding. I have had poutine all over Canada, and found this one to be an excellent version. It starts with hand-cut duck fat fries, gets loaded up with savory cheese curds and is finally smothered in a super comforting gravy. The duck confit is definitely not necessary for it to be good, but it takes the whole thing over the top. The duck was cooked perfectly, with crispy crackly skin and moist, flavorful meat that went so well with the poutine overall. The value is also terrific. You can easily get a smash burger and fries for $16, or one of their double-patty specialty burgers for around $20, which is an absolute steal in SF given what burgers cost these days. The super friendly staff even let me snap a photo of a pickle beer in the fridge, which I will definitely be back to try on a future visit, especially on their recommendation to get it in a michelada.

This is hands down one of the best burger spots in the city! I got the El Reno and my husband got the double Hamburguesa and both were truly amazing! We also ordered the duck fat fries, and they were easily the best fries we've ever had. Everything we ordered exceeded our expectations. If you're craving a great burger in San Francisco, this spot is a must-try. Everything we ordered was fantastic, and we can't wait to come back!

I really liked this spot :) everyone I've talked to in the city has heard or seen something about ~hamburgeusa~ Sent it on a Wednesday after work and by the time I arrived, there was line out. Menu: 1. Drinks--boozy milkshakes, beers 2. Smash burgers 3. Tavern burgers 4. Duck confit, fries, Caesar salad Vibe: Warm cabin, retro, 90s basement with cool portraits, high booths that look like caves, an old timey tv playing some Arnold Schwarzenegger movie and a lively bar with people hunched over enjoying their meals Everything came out QUICK, people were friendly, checked in often and I was happy with my smash Reno burger and sharing fries. Not to mention my milkshake! I honestly liked the flavor of another smash burger a bit more which was the regular one. I would love to go back and get the duck confit fries, have another drink or two and.. this I can't control because it's popular but a few touches less busy haha (great problem to have) Super solid spot worth a visit. I'll go back to try something else, the Oreo milkshake and a maybe at some point for the tavern burger (I am liking the smash though)

Loved this place ! The restaurant is so cute and feels nostalgic, the music was a little loud but it didn't bother me too much. There's limited seating so make sure that you come in early to snag a table. The food was amazing. The smash burgers were delicious, our group got to taste all three and they were all great and pretty reasonably priced. But the true standout was the duck poutine with the extra duck confit. I still think about it to this day. The extra duck melted at the touch of the fork and worked perfectly with the gravy and duck fat fries. I've never tasted something like it so I will definitely be back for that. Make sure to also try their boozey (or regular) milkshakes.

I was bracing myself for a line when a friend and I rocked up to Hamburguesa Bar last Friday just after noon. Not so! We were able to get a table without a wait. The fries are five stars, for sure. If you're wondering if you should get one order or two, the answer is two! (We ordered one to share and regretted it.) I very much enjoyed my All American burger and look forward to trying a smash burger on my next visit. It's great to see signs of new life sprouting in this area!

Great burgers, drinks, and service with fun retro vibes from the guys that did Pie Punks (another excellent spot) Went on a Thursday evening and there was a line (expected as this spot is getting a lot of press lately). Sat at the bar and was taken good care of by Kian and Lane. Got the Hamburguesa ($8 - cheap for SF) - was small but delicious. Drinks were well made and service was great even for a busy day. Great spot - will be coming again.

Best smash burger I've had - yes, there was a wait but this was totally worth it. Despite being a bar, they don't pack people in and everyone has to have a seat to order. Recommend to come right before 5:30 if you don't want to queue in line.
