We hired Handyman Suffield, Enfield, and Coventry for a full bathroom remodel through a referral /…read morescreening platform. The experience taught me several important lessons. Although the handyman local company had many positive reviews, none were for a full remodel -- only small repairs or generic statements. The estimate provided was vague and didn't specify plumbing, electrical work, or wall/ceiling prep, which I now realize are essential when converting a shower to a bathtub. I assumed the daily labor rate covered what was needed to complete the job. By day four of a six day estimate, it was clear they weren't equipped for the job. No plumber had been scheduled, forcing me to hire a same day plumber at a very expensive rate. I paid directly for this charge $2800. Basic installation steps were missed until I pointed them out, wall prep was sloppy, and the new floor was cut unevenly with visible gaps. A worker even used my household garbage can as a cutting table. The owner insisted there were numerous changes that delayed the project. The estimate said any changes to scope would follow a formal process that was never invoked once. I thought except for a couple of changes the others were implied under general work statements like "install tub." I stopped the project with handyman and hired licensed professionals, whose workmanship was significantly better. I spent an additional $9,400 to finish and correct the work. We also disagreed with Handyman on the monies owed -- they insisted four days of labor were owed, even though the project was nowhere near 4/6 complete. They side my additional costs were not relevant to what I owed them. Takeaway: Match the scope of your project to the contractor's skill set. A full bathroom remodel requires licensed trades and a detailed estimate. Before starting, use an AI tool describing your project and it lead you through the critical points. Once you select a contractor ask the AI tool how good a fit the selection is.

Example - I had some low-hanging bush branches over my driveway. Without being asked, Devon trimmed the branches away so they wouldn't scratch my car as I drove into the garage. The yard work is impeccable every. single. visit. They don't miss a thing. I would pay whatever he asked because the quality of work is so high and dealing with the company is so wonderful but the rates are beyond reasonable. Devon also took care of my fall clean-up last season and again, the rate was beyond reasonable, wrapped into my full season of yard work as an add-on. Highest recommendation for this company with a level of integrity missing from so many businesses these days.

She had Bill estimate the job. He quoted her $1,200.00. Yeah, that's right: Twelve Hundred Dollars. She called me about the estimate, and I told her not to hire him. When I came home, I went to Lowe's and bought a quart of already mixed popcorn ceiling patch for $5.30 inc. tax, and fixed the ceiling myself. The patch is now perfectly concealed and can't be distinguished from the rest of the ceiling. If you want someone decent and honest to work on your repairs, look elsewhere!!!

Jermaine was professional, and prompt enough to show up, in person, and give me a quote of $300,…read morethe day I called, and inquired about having my ceiling repaired in my living room. I had some plumbing work done the week before, and the holes in the ceiling had started to become an eyesore to me, and I really wanted it fixed! I called on a Tuesday, and he said he'd be able to come out a couple of days (Thursday), and get started on the repair. He arrived in a timely manner, and had everything done within a couple of hours, which I was very happy with. Hence my giving him a credit of 2 stars. However after inspecting the actual work done on the ceiling, I thought it looked very shoddy and unprofessional. There was a clear indentation of where the work was done, and it was not the seamless finish I had envisioned. I told him that I wanted the entire ceiling area to look as blended as possible when he started the job, and he had told me that he could do that for me, for $300 . That's not what I saw! He reassured me that after the paint dried, everything would somewhat blend into the ceiling, and look more even. I told him I wasn't happy with the work, and asked if he'd come back and help me complete it. He agreed that he also didn't think the job was completed to his liking, so he agreed to come out on Saturday ( he wanted the paint to be given a chance to dry) I texted him on Friday evening to remind him about Saturday, and verify a time when he would be at my house. No response.. I tried texting him on Saturday, and I texted him mid week on Wednesday..I never heard from this person again. Even after reassuring me that he would've come back. He was not courteous and professional to follow up in any manner. Complete ghosting on his part! I do not recommend his services if you are looking for a professional who'd show up and complete the job in a manner that makes the client happy, because it's not sloppy! At this point, I need to find someone else to fix his terrible, botched workmanship. The ceiling continues to be a major eyesore to me.
