A great array of books in the room and downstairs in the parlor, Shel Silverstein, George Orwell... The Historic Benner Mansion built in 1914 has been restored in all its proverbial glory. Comfortable warm and cozy. We stayed overnight on a rainy cold February night and the home was perfectly temperature-controlled, we were even able to go downstairs to the dining area for a midnight snack in our socks, that's how warm the beautiful original wood floors are throughout the two floors we inhabited. We stayed on the second floor in General Trexler's Quarters, a beautiful large, well-lit (windows all around with lamps and a candle) corner room with a separate dressing room and it's own large private bathroom with bathtub/shower. The four poster bed was comfort-beyond, the two teal upholstered seats in front of the television are comfy and great for reading, sipping tea &/or watching black & white Westerns on the tv. The roll-top desk in the bedroom was owned by General Trexler himself! We brought tea up to the room and read books and napped before heading out to a gig in Bethlehem. Breakfast is included, eggs & bacon, in the morning. Plus English muffins and jams, coffees and teas from a Keurig and hot and cold cereals are avail 24/7 in the dining room for your snacking pleasure. We will be back!

This being the first shower I had planned myself it was a great comfort to have Sam be there every step of the way; she was extremely accommodating and helpful throughout the planning process. We were able to meet beforehand to plan the floor layout as well as the itinerary. With Sam's permission we were able to drop off decorations earlier in the week and arrived early Saturday morning to decorate. On the day of the shower the mansion looked absolutely spectacular; candles lit and flowers in all the right places. We made use of the piano on the first floor and had a pianist play during the shower. Guests continually asked us how we found just a gem! The Benner Mansion was lovingly restored by the Bennett family and is a beautiful building full of history and architecture; Sam knows every inch of the place and the story behind it. We jumped on the opportunity to book the entire mansion, and 5 of us were able spend the night after the shower. What a treat! I booked a dinner reservation for us at Union and Finch, which was within 2 blocks walking distance. When we returned from dinner we found the mansion was toasty warm despite the cold temperatures outside and we enjoyed libations late into the night. When we retired to our respective bedrooms, we found they were wonderfully turned down and the beds were waiting for us to climb right in. The next morning we had eggs and bacon for breakfast, along with coffee, and toasted English muffins. We all slept comfortably through the night and remarked how insulating the mansion was despite being in a city landscape. I had a wonderful experience working with Sam that will go beyond a business relationship. We are now family :)

Saturday night was one of those nights. We chose 1812 Piano Lounge in Allentown to celebrate Billy's 60th birthday, and we truly could not have chosen a more perfect place. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. The service was absolutely incredible, the food was fantastic, and the atmosphere and energy were simply unmatched. Every member of your team helped make our night feel special, and it never went unnoticed. And the music... WOW! Both entertainer were with out a doubt fantastic! We laughed, we sang, we celebrated, and we enjoyed every single minute of being surrounded by the people we love. Looking around that room and seeing our family and friends smiling, laughing, singing, and having such an amazing time was something I will never forget. When you plan a milestone birthday, you hope everything comes together. You hope everyone has fun. You hope the person you're celebrating feels loved. 1812 gave us all of that -- and so much more. Our friends and family are STILL talking about Saturday night, and I honestly think that is the greatest compliment we could give you.

I had a king sized bedroom. Room was clean, bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. Smart fridge kept my drinks cool enough. They do have an energy saver (where you need to put the key in for lights and hvac). I don't feel the air got as cold as I would have liked it. I did have food there one night as part of my work conference, and it was absolutely fantastic. The beef tenderloin was perfectly cooked. I used the gym the two mornings I was there and it got the job done (two elipticals, 4 treadmills, and weights). There is a restaurant there and a few options nearby. I wouldn't stray too far from the hotel, and if you have a lot of belongings, I'd valet because the self parking lot is a bit of a hike through the tunnel and whatnot, but truly a great stay if you're in Allentown.

Bait-and-Switch Pricing: I laid out a very basic party plan that was much more like a birthday than a wedding, and Rob gave me a quote. Hours after agreeing to the price and securing our date, he called back claiming his "partner" said they couldn't do a "wedding" for that price, raising it by several hundred dollars with no other explanation or change in my basic plan. Nickel-and-Diming: Rob initially pitched add-ons like a chocolate fountain and a coffee bar - I loved both ideas until it turned out they'd cost more than my caterer charged for our whole dinner service. In hindsight, I have no idea where he would have even put these in the space we were given. He also wanted to charge $150 to set out 10 centerpieces, $150 for servers, and extra fees for tables he wasn't even sure if he had. I declined and found help with these things elsewhere. Lost Payments (DO NOT PAY CASH): I dropped off my 50% deposit check on June 25 (cleared July 1). Rob confirmed by text that he had received it. On Aug 10, Rob texted (in the same text thread) asking if I had ever paid a deposit or sent the contract. I had to text him a photo of the cleared check because he also forgot the amount. Ignored Messages & Sarcasm: A week before the wedding, Rob read my FB message and texts across two days with zero response. I had to ask my DJ to nudge him (they're friends). When Rob finally called back, he was sarcastic and hid behind being "off." A simple "I'm off, I'll call Friday" would have sufficed. Music Caps: Rob wasn't sure he could accommodate my request to play some Greek music for my family between dinner and the DJ starting, claiming it "impeded normal operations." When he finally agreed, he capped it to 15 minutes. If you've ever been to Seven Sirens on a Saturday evening, you know there's never much going on before 8pm; not sure why this was even an issue when I was renting out the space and providing a normal DJ & karaoke for the remainder of everyone's entertainment. Dirty Venue: When I arrived to decorate a couple hours before the reception, the tables and seats were dirty. I had to wipe them down myself (in my wedding hair & makeup) and remove a messy extension cord left across the booths where my guests would be eating. They also failed to set up our 4 catering tables. The poor single bartender on duty was completely uninformed and had to haul heavy tables out by herself. Mid-Reception Interruptions: The first time I ever met Rob was while I was trying to enjoy dinner with my guests. He interrupted to say I could play my Greek music after all because--exactly as I'd predicted--there were no outside patrons there anyway. By then, dealing with music logistics wasn't something I wanted to manage mid-reception, and so I said 'forget it.' He also asked how I was going to pay the remaining balance, and I had to inform him that his bar manager already received my check the night before. The Bright Spots: Bar Staff: The bar manager, Sam, and the bartenders were fantastic and kept the many tabs for all our guests very well-managed. We're still trying to figure out how one couple ended up with a $400 tab for only two of them, but we think they stuck to their signage that you'll buy the bar a round if you don't close your tab before you leave (they returned to retrieve their forgotten credit card the next day). DJ Dave Waldron: Their preferred DJ was amazing and made our party a fantastic time. Bottom Line: Management misplaces financial records, leaves the space dirty, dumps setup on single bar staff, and nickel-and-dimes clients. I have screenshots and photos to back up my statements if management wants to try and dispute this review. Look elsewhere in the Lehigh Valley if you want a stress-free event that you don't have to micromanage.
