This is the Mushroom House in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Cincinnati. The amount of detail is really breathtaking: circular steel steps, deck rails of wood shingles, stained glass windows, tiled ceilings... of course, I had to snap some pics. It was started to get built by architect Terry Brown in 1992 and completed in 2006. Terry Brown him self resided in it until his passing in 2008. This house looks like a mushroom from a certain angle, and like an owl from another. It is a fairytale house in the real world. There's so much fine detail, there's no wonder it had taken this genius man 14 years to complete this artistic masterpiece of a home. The spiral orange stair case was chained off not allowing access to the public. There was a car parked in the driveway as well as a surveillance camera. They also had a "no trespassing" sign. The land around, although very minimal is very well groomed and well kept. Something tells me there are people who currently reside here. I don't know how I would feel about living in a home that gets so much attention and that is always being photographed. The Mushroom House is a must see in Cincinnati. This location is exceptionally friendly and helpful. I was getting my federal compliant ID and had heard stories of people having to make multiple trips. I checked online ahead of time and was pretty sure I had what I needed. I was greeted at the door by a friendly gentleman who confirmed I had checked in online properly and my space in line was reserved. I filled out a form and waited just a couple minutes for my number to be called. The person at the counter was friendly and helped me with my ID and two license plate renewals, with some nice conversation while she completed the registrations. All in, less than 15 minutes later, everything was done in a quick, professional way and I was on my way! Hard to believe you can enjoy an experience at the BMV but it's true! Next time you need the BMV, I recommend this location.

Stopped in to get a FBI/BCI background check. The office is on the first level of the justice…read morecenter. Plenty of parking up front and around, I'm sure it can get pretty busy though. The sheriffs office is open 24/7 to check in inmates. This comes in handy when you just need a background check, no appointments needed since they're literally open all the time. We were in and out in about 15 minutes. The lady up front was so kind and nice. I was expecting someone harsh who is used to dealing with inmates but we got the complete opposite. I really appreciate her willingness to let us in the back office so my little could play. Underneath a cute aquarium is a stack of sheriffs coloring books, crayons and junior deputy badges. It's so refreshing to have this available for our kids. Hubs was fingerprinted in no time, electronically. The cost was $66 and it takes 6-8 weeks for the results to come back via webcheck. The lady was very thorough and made sure our paperwork had all the right codes and addresses to be sent to.

I plugged in the address in my GPS but when I arrived, I was sure I wasn't at the right place. Not trying to hurt anyone's feelings here but this was ghetto. I felt so uncomfortable and thank God my husband was with me to stay in the car with the kids. The whole time I was inside, I was so worried about them outside. Once I figured out that the prison looking building was where I should be, I cautiously went inside where I had a slight sigh of relief. It's better inside than outside. Next, the kiosk. Holy crap does that thing SUCK. The screen is horrible and really needs an update. You have to enter a lot of information and I was seriously getting angry trying to type this stuff in. After you pay, there's no further directions whatsoever. At this point, I'm hating life. I walk around and find a small office with chairs and two ladies behind a counter of bars. They called my name so I knew I was in the right spot. They hand me the birth certificate and I'm on my way.
