The food was over priced! The service was ok. Witnessed the workers taking unused jelly's off dirty plates and wiping them off and putting them back or onto new plates of food going out. GROSS!!!!!!! The children's cups are re-used and if any unused place settings are not used, they are not removed from the table and just used for the next people to sit... Cute place! Loved the nostalgic art everywhere. It was a perfect mom and pop type restaurant. My kids distracted me most of the time but one of the wait staff brought us crayons and coloring books while we waited. The staff was very kind and checked in with us often. We appreciated that. I ordered two specials, sweet potato pancakes and brown sugar cinnamon French toast. Both of them were amazing. The coffee was good as well. We will definitely be back! read more

AMAZING! Service was immaculate. My coffee was never empty and my food came out quick. The food was DELICIOUS. Everything I could ever need was on the table. I'm not a native to the area. My boyfriend was pretty much born and raised here so this place has become an staple to the community. Ill be a little honest with you, considering this girl lives in San Diego. Pricing... well, a city girl like myself 2 eggs and toast for $9 seems a bit reasonable, however coming across from the natives in the area, seems to be a bit of a uproar for the quality of food. I ended up getting a Belgium waffle and some bacon. The Belguim waffle itself was sooooo dry, I found myself cutting the waffle into small pieces and drinking water to make sure I didn't choke. There is no sarcasm in this statement. Everything else was fine, service was great and food came out in a decent hour. Everyone else seemed to be happy with their meals. read more

Eggs special and pumpkin French toast special. Went in on a Sunday at 8:30am and as soon as we get seated a waitress with short hair comments and says "guess anyone can sit themselves" and I responded that the gentlemen sat us and also my wife is 8 months pregnant. I think this was rude to say to a customer as soon as they get seated. Our waitress was really nice but the other waitress was rude and Both special meals seem pretty small. Waitress says "here you are, eggs look a little murdered but it tastes the same". If you are visiting Horseheads you have to stop by sugar & spice. Home cooking, make to order with perfection. This is a restaurant that understands how to not overcook bacon. Disappointing is the best word I can use to describe my recent experience. I have lived out of the area for the past several years and recently moved back. I was excited to enjoy some good food from a place I had frequented when I lived here before. Food was fine, but everything else was sub par. Not enough silverware to provide anything other than a fork. Dirty coffee mugs. Shared condiments on the table covered in grease and goodness knows what else from previous diners. Walking in the door, I noticed the sign that stated a 4% cash discount is the price on the menu. So basically it's a 4% surcharge for using a credit card. That's annoying but ok, I can use cash. But somehow they didn't have enough change on hand to break a 20 so I could leave a decent tip. So management incompetence punishes the workers. In addition to this, on the cash register there was a "I did this" sticker with an image of Joe Biden pointing to the dollar owed display. Why oh why would you be so silly as to so obviously bring your politics into your restaurant business. Of course you are free to do what you wish. But I am no longer choosing to spend my money at this establishment. read more

It used to be pretty good, I had gone here for over 15 years, but as their prices have risen, their service has declined. Waited almost 30 minutes for the waitress to come and take our food order. When she finally did arrive, she offered no apology for the wait or anything. Never got a coffee refill the entire time, despite a waiter walking a round holding a coffee pot. I've been there 3 times. terrible service. Once my bacon and pancakes were burned. The owner came out and picked my food up off my plate with her fingers to exam if I was telling the truth. Another time we wanted to sit outside on the patio and we were told that they would not serve us out there, we would have to order it to go and take it out ourselves. Slightly overpriced but good breakfasts, passable lunches. If we lived in a busier area, I'd give it a pass, but we don't! I definitely wouldn't mind eating here but having been a few times I'm not sure it's a place I will ever again suggest as a breakfast or lunch date... I'd rather go to Lights in Elmira, which has more reasonable prices for the same quality of food, but sometimes you just want an eggs benedict and you don't want to make it at home on a dreary Tuesday morning. I've only been here once but I give this one star because their service is absolutely outrageous. I waiting their with my family and we are waiting yo be seated, I girl waitress looks at us with a dumb face and gets back to work. Then we decide yo seat ourselves and find that my little brother in his car seat could fit so we went to the only book opened, but there was garbage and dirty plates on it so when someone walked by we asked them to clean it up buy they looked at us like WE were supposed to clean it up. My fiance and I went here for breakfast and had terrible experience. The setting looks nice and inviting which is always a good sign when going into a smaller diner for breakfast. We were unsure if we had to seat ourselves but after 30 seconds of no one acknowledging us we chose somewhere to sit. We sat in a booth along the front windows behind a woman who was obviously waiting for someone and a about 5 group of older people (late 60s) in the middle of their breakfast. The woman must have come I'm shortly before us because the waitress (woman in her late 50s) handed her a menu and listed off specials, including chicken and waffles which caught our attention. When the waitress finished with the woman, she proceeded to our table and dropped a single menu on our table. She asked if we wanted coffee, and after we declined, she turned the mugs over and pushed them to the back of the table. She took our drink order and walked away with no mention of specials. She returned about 2 minutes later with our drinks. We weren't ready to order so she walked away. Another waitress (woman in early 40s) came back about 5 minutes later and took our order. As we waited for our food to come out, we watched 4 other tables come in and seat themselves near us. When they were greeted by our waitress, she handed everyone menus then she listed off the specials. When the woman we sat behind's company finally showed up, our waitress did the same with her. Our food was brought out by another waitress who appeared to be in quite a hurry. Our food tasted great and was cooked very well. When we were finished we waited 10 minutes for someone, either our waitress or any other waitress, to come bring the check. I made eye contact with our waitress 4 times and waved at her 2 of those times; she ignored me. At that point we began to get frustrated as we were blatantly finished with our food and no one was enough paying attention to bring the check over. My fiance went to ask one of the waitresses for the check. The woman in her early 40s did not look at him, just shoved our check at him. He paid right there and I began walking out. By the time I got to the door I noticed our waitress cleaning our table. Overall the service was terrible. The waitresses were rude and inattentive. The entire experience was a complete disappointment. read more
