They were responsive. Timely. The job was to replace the glass at top of garage door only in one panel. When finished the tech l, Landon didn't offer to show me the work and I had to say well let me see how it looks. I feel like he knew I was not going to be happy with it. Unfortunately the replacement miter cut window frame was not measured long enough so there was a 1/4" gap at corner. And the plastic frame pieces were not pushed in smoothly. In the center there were 2 shoved in areas and wrinkles. But it was just the huge gaping corners that shocked me. Clearly not cut long enough I'm used to working with contractors on home projects and I just tried to politely ask why he would do an install like this. And we recently had all new vinyl windows installed which is pretty much the same method where they cut the vinyl to miter and fit the corners of windows to seal it up, which is a similar process. Anyway I do feel that I understand how it was done . Just not why it was done so sloppy for lack of a better word. In future I would use this company again if a different tech was sent out. If I hadn't said anything I would have been upset with myself for not speaking up and asking why it looked so bad. Thankfully it's on the inside but I still expect it to look good inside or out. But thankfully the outside of window is good. I don't think the outside frame was popped out like the inside had to be. Anyway it was unfortunate. In response to manager comment: To correct your statement. !!!! Landon did not use the existing old that were perfectly mitered window frame clips that hold glass in. He showed me a long piece of stock and said he cut new ones because he destroyed the existing when he pried them off the window. That's where the problem comes from. He cited new pieces too short leaving huge 1/4" gaps at corners looking really sloppy and unprofessional !! He left the top piece old but added new badly cut short pieces on bottom and sides. They were cut too quickly without properly measuring and miter corners did not come close. read more

This used to be a good company however they were recently acquired by a large corporation and their service has gone downhill. Recently had their technician out to look at a damaged garage door. He said I'd receive an estimate via email. After 5 calls to their office, I've only received an estimate that says $0. When I call they are very confused by their new system and keep apologizing. On one call they had no recollection of us and on another I was called by another name. You'd be best off avoiding this company. read more

I sent Hamon out to a rental property they previously had worked at and replaced garage door opener and spring assembly through home warranty. Turns out the spring assembly broke again and they went ahead and replaced it without speaking to me first. These typically last 10 years or more. However, I received a bill for this second spring! I disputed and disputed and disputed this with multiple people at Hamon and instead of working with me, they sent me to collections! Ridiculous. Now I'm paying for another spring assembly that should have lasted more than the year after it was installed with minimal use. At my current house (now) I had the spring replace elsewhere. I have always called Hamon whenever I needed help because many years ago he helped me when I didn't have much money to spare. I am grateful and loyal to people like that. On June 1, 2021 I suddenly had a problem with the door not wanting to close. I lubed up the chain, opened and closed the door manually, swept cob webs away from safety sensors... that's all I could think of to do. I called Hamon and they sent me someone the next morning and again so grateful for how quickly they responded. I explained to the gentleman all that I did so that he would not go to the trouble of lubrication etc. He looked at the chain and seemingly seeing that nothing was wrong, he went to the safety sensor and adjusted it and tightened it. That was it ... he fixed it and it was about 5 minutes of his time. July 12, I get an invoice for $101.00. I am being honest when I say I didn't know how much it would cost for a sensor adjustment, but now I know it didn't matter what he did, I was going to be charged for a full hour of labor. That is what I was told when I called about my bill. Now if you call for a tune up even though you may need just a sensor adjustment it will cost you $60. How does this make any sense? Many of us lost our jobs over Covid and I know many people are struggling. I just don't think it is a fair price. read more

Called their office with what I thought was a broken door opener and they gave me a estimate that seemed reasonable. They scheduled a tech to be at the house the next day. He arrived on-time with everything he needed to fix our problem. The tech saw that the opener was not our problem but springs were. He quickly repaired the door and fully tested everything. The repair was quick and professionally done. The only thing that was a little odd was that he did not immediately give us a bill. He told us they would bill us. While it was not my expectation I was fine with it. It took a few weeks to get the bill so I did make a follow up call thinking maybe the bill got lost in the mail. It finally did show up and the charge was reasonable. So profession, on-time, and reasonable cost. Not sure you can expect much more than that. We will certainly call Hamon Overhead Door the next time we have a problem with our garage door. read more

However, I noticed that after using the garage door it was a little labored and making more noise than I expected in a new door with new springs. I called "service" and got the service manager. He had a very bad attitude and told me that all garage doors made noise and it would have to wait a few days till he could get to it. I figured he must be family or he wouldn't be in the position he is in. He obviously doesn't know who pays the bills.. After a few days I called back and he sent a service rep out who had much better customer skills and took the time to get it done right. My next $1,000 and service dollars will go elsewhere. read more

I've always kinda just assumed replacing my big single piece of wood doors would be something that would always be a fixture on my house because I assumed roll up doors would cost a fortune. I previously approached 2 other local companies to have neither of them actually show up for the estimate. 3rd estimate came from Hamon, and decided since I hadn't seen any other estimates to wait for one more. Despite this other local company being local, and newer (not as much track record), their estimate was at least $1500 over Hamon's. I decided to go with Hamon, and honestly I couldn't be more pleased. The price was surprisingly lower than I'd expected, and the end product looks and functions great. Overall, from time to estimate to actual install was very short, and though there were a few little hiccups (one of the panels was too large on one door, so door didnt seal well at top) Hamon was very prompt to get it resolved and courteous about it. We got two doors, one of an odd 10ft or 12ft size, and two wall mounted openers (I felt was a necessity because of excessively high garage ceilings) In closing, I'll just re-iterate, I couldn't be more pleased, totally changed the appearance of my house, and now my garage is much better insulated. If I have needs related to garage/rollup doors in the future, I'll undoubtedly being going to Hamon first read more

John Hamon came in & saved the day as a 2nd opinion to American Home Shield insurance about my broken garage door opener! AHS sent out Precision Door first. I was shocked that Precision insisted I would have to pay over $600 for unnecessary new springs & were going to charge AHS $450+ to fix a broken gear & sprocket in the motor (something John said would cost $180)! John made everything so easy! Since my system was over 15 years old, he installed an upgraded system (AHS paid for it & I paid $98 over that) with belts instead of chains & an app that tells me if the door is open or closed. I stopped by the Santa Maria Hamon Overhead Door Company Shop to inquire about buying a new garage door and opener for my home. I spoke with Gregg who's brother (John) owns the business, Gregg told me he would come out to my home later the same day to take some measurements of my garage door this was early in the morning he also told me if he didn't make it out to my home today, he would definitely come out tomorrow, so I gave him my info and told him I would wait to hear from him. I waited around the whole day, but Gregg never showed up nor did he show up the next day and wasted even more of my time, never called to say he couldn't make it or anything. The next day now the third day I received a phone call from the office secretary Leslie, and she ask me if I would be home so Gregg could come out and take measurements of my existing garage door so I could get a quote and I told her yes, I would be home. Gregg finally showed up and took measurements of my door and said he would get back to me with an estimate via email the next day, but once again I was never sent the quote the next day and it wasn't until 2 or 3 days later, I receive the quote from Leslie via email. After I received the quote, I replied back to Leslie and ask her if the quote included taxes and ask her if she could tell me what kind of warranty the door comes with. Leslie responded back to me and said yes the quote included taxes but never answered my question about the garage door warranty. I then replied back to Leslie again via email and ask her about the garage door warranty and once again Leslie ignored my email and never replied explaining if the garage door and opener came with a warranty or not, she was only interested in the question I had about the money. Because of the poor customer service, I received from Gregg and Leslie I decided to take my business elsewhere and bought a new garage door and opener thru Unique Garage Doors, not only did they give me a better price but most important they treated me like a valued customer and explained their warranty's on their garage doors and openers. I would not recommend buying a new garage door or opener for your home thru Hammon Overhead Door company because of their poor customer service. I can't imagine what would have happened had I purchased a new garage door thru Hammon and had any problems with the door or opener, I guess I would have just been screwed and out of luck if the garage door or opener needed repairs. For a company who has been in business for over 50 years you would think they would off decent customer service, they won't be getting any of my business. read more

Our Garage door was original to the house which is 34 years old. It was old, abused had no weather stripping and everytime you used it you didnt know if it was going to fall off the rails onto the car. You would pull out and then have to go back in to close the door. It was done. I called one of Hamons competitors who was very timely, came out took measurements and told me he would have a quote to me in 45 mins. Two days later after still hearing nothing from him I called Hamon. I spoke with Melinda, she even pulled up our condos on google map and was able to look at the doors and color to get a match. she listened to everything I had to say including I wouldnt be able to pay until September (we are in August) and she assured me that would be fine.
