I've stayed here multiple times because the location is great and the quality consistent. However; when I checked in yesterday there was a sign on the front desk stating "we now charge $10.00 per night for parking". Say what? I stay in Hampton Inns all over the country and only once was I charged to park my car and that was in Manhattan. This is not a reflection on expedia, where i booked but directly with Hampton Inn is a partner so I share this issue. I have been using this same location for almost 10 years staying sometimes weeks at a time visiting sick family. The hotel and staff have always been amazing and I frequently stay at Hampton Inn because of the experience. I was beyond disappointed this time that they were charging me $10/night for parking in basically a public open lot. I'm not even sure how they know what car belongs in the lot since they never even took my vehicle information upon registration. Make things worst there is no previous mention of the added charges anywhere prior to booking. This is enough to lose this long time customer...check my bookings o er the years! I hope this $10 is worth the loss of future business. Charging guest for nothing is the worst business model ! read more

My son, who has autism just celebrated his 10th birthday. And all he wanted for his gift was to stay at the Hampton Inn. He was very specific that it needed an elevator, indoor pool, gym, and breakfast. Our room needed two queen beds and a big TV. To say that this hotel met all his needs would be an understatement. He was so happy! Made it his best birthday ever. From our perspective, the hotel was super clean, very modern, and beautiful. The staff was very informative and helpful, professional and kind. The room was very nice, clean, and cozy. The breakfast was quite impressive, pool was so clean, and all areas were well kept and maintained. The staff always looked busy, very determined to ensure a great stay for everyone. Only complaint was there were no souvenirs, my son really wanted a Hampton Inn t-shirt or hat. I realize that this isn't a common thing in a hotel, but he would've loved it. We really liked the shop area in the lobby and think a few souvenirs could've been placed there. But that sure doesn't limit how awesome our stay was. They have no idea how happy they made a little boy; they made his birthday dream come true. This past weekend we had about 30 rooms reserved at the Hampton Inn & Suites .To my surprise there were 2 other groups booked the same weekend. I overheard the front desk say they were completely "sold out." I would have never known they were at full capacity - the customer service was excellent ! Our guests we very pleased with the service and overall hotel appearance , the rooms have all been redone, the staff is very eager to please and the breakfast is pretty impressive . Raven, one of the managers, that I was assigned to last year, provided excellent customer service, her emails were always prompt and provided great support and attention to detail. Jasmine was also superior to work with easy to talk to and happy to help. Overall, the front desk staff were also very helpful, and pleasant . I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel the location is also very convenient. It's a 5 star for me! read more

Warm, welcoming, and full of good energy. From the moment me and my niece walked in, they made us feel safe, comfortable, and at home. They're funny, friendly, and genuinely care. It felt more like visiting family than staying at a hotel. That kind of energy makes all the difference. The hotel itself is clean, cozy, and definitely worth the price. What a shocker! This hotel was actually decent! We traveled with a couple pups and a small child. Our room didn't smell like dogs when we arrived, they had a breakfast buffet spread: 2 cold cereal options, sausage/bacon on alternating days, coffee, OJ, toast, waffles or pancakes, some powdered eggs & really watery grits lol. The pool was wonderful & fresh towels were stocked. And the property itself has pretty landscaping in the courtyard & pool area. 100% will be back. read more

Hotel was clean, room was comfortable, looked like it was recently updated. Breakfast was similar to other Hamptons. This hotel is just wonderful. Usually we have problems finding pet friendly hotels when we are on the road (they say pet friendly online but then say no pets once we actually get there - so annoying!). So we were so happy to find this hotel last night. The staff was wonderful, the room was clean and very comfortable, and the hot breakfast hit the spot. It's in a great location right off of I85 and there is a good restaurant right across the street so it was very convenient. Excellent for what it is. This is our go to hotel when getting medical care at Duke. Ask for the medical discount rate. Very friendly front desk, rooms clean, spacious. Nothing special, but everything is just as it should be for a business or other visit to Durham. Price is right. They have just upped their breakfast game, waffles, oatmeal with lots of toppings, hot eggs and breakfast meats. One of the best for what it is, a free breakfast in a chain hotel. read more

Late night July 13 rolling into July 14th made a reservation for 2 rooms on the Hilton Honors App. We have been diamond members for a couple years and needed a place to stay as we had a uhaul and our 2 children and were getting tired of driving. My wife and I tried to call multiple times to speak with someone at the front desk to ensure than we were indeed arriving but no one would answer the phone even though we called 5 times. Called the corporate office (hilton reservation line) who also tried to call and could not get through. No one would answer at the hotel. Arrived at the front desk no one was anywhere to be found at about 1145 PM. Waited 10 minutes and then eventually knocked on the door to the office that was behind the counter. An employee who later identified himself as "MALCOLM" came from out of the office in a rage and reported that no one from the corporate office called him and accused me and my wife of "exaggerating" and he even was annoyed that the reservations were made on the Hilton honors application and reported "well you just made these reservations i dont know if I can honor them." His body language was rude, he was curt, and dismissive. I explained to him my family and I were very tired driving from Maryland and that we had a reservation and we wanted to check in but did not want to have to deal with his bad attitude. My wife who texted me from the parking lot encouraged me to start to record his behavior to file a complaint and he immediately started to say "oh is that a threat" and he stormed towards the door and demanded that we leave and that he was going to call the police. I encouraged him to call the police and was shocked at his playing the victim and even calling the county police to justify his rude behaviors. 3 officers arrived while me, my wife, and my 2 young children sat in the car completely confused and baffled at how this person escalated such a simple incident into a fabrication of a threat, calling the police and overutilizing County resources inappropriately, and even identifying himself as a (general) manager so that the police would remove my wife myself and my 2 young children from the premises in the middle of the night because he was called out for his rude behavior and poor service. He was the only hotel employee we saw there so it was then his word against mine. Thankful the Durham County police were very professional and eventually we left to go to another hotel down the road. NEVER NEVER AGAIN, Avoid this place at all costs. ALSO IT IS IN A VERY HIGH CRIME AREA ACCORDING TO POLICE. If possible keep driving until you find somewhere you and your family will be treated with respect in a safe environment. read more

I choice this hotel because I was searching for particular things. One was free wifi. The hotel description said it had this. However, everything was great accept one elevator was not working which caused long waits and during my check out I was expected to pay what I was quote which the attendant said all was fine and gave me a receipt that showed what I was quoted before arriving. However, she waits until I leave out the hotel to charge me for Internet service. Why didn't she mention this as I was checking out? Why she had to be sneaky about it and wait until I leave? I went back into the hotel after seeing this charge and inquired about it. The lady at the front desk tells me "oh i'll take it off. A lot of people choose the wrong one" this lady was full of it because when using my phone it never asked for me to choose anything. They have false advertisement regarding free wifi so beware!!!!! I am very impressed with this Hampton property. I was upgraded to a suite that was super comfortable and very nice. The room was very clean, smelled fresh (see below) and had plenty of space with a large work desk area, big vanity area and a very comfortable king bed. The only issue was the rather small shower with the handle right in the spot where I stood under the water. A little annoying. Wifi went completely useless after 9:00 PM, even on the "premium" channel. I should mention that the first room I was assigned was one of their former smoking rooms. Either that, or the guest prior had gone through a few packs of cancer sticks in the room. Just opening the door and sticking my head into the room was an overwhelming smell of smoked cigarettes. I was immediately offered a replacement room with no question. The new room was perfect. read more

You can't go wrong when you get a great night's sleep and then an excellent breakfast the next morning. This was indeed my experience. I didn't know breakfast would be served but boy oh boy was I glad that it was! They served eggs, sausage, waffles (make it yourself), cereal, oatmeal, fresh fruit, bread, and muffins. If you are looking for a NICE place to stay but are trying to avoid the ridiculously high rates that encapsulate Durham, this is a good choice. Check in always with triple A or AARP if you have it. The Inn is right off of 85, and is 7 to 10 minutes from Duke University and Duke Hospital. They have a shuttle bus going to the hospital if needed. Very convenient. Kick Back Jacks is within walking distance if you want some quick food and drink, and then all other dining experiences are just 15 minutes or so away. The Hampton Inn itself was very clean. Comfy beds. Nice shower. Staff was pleasant. They had a gym, but only the treadmill and the elliptical worked. Bikes did not. That is something they need to fix, as I think all gym equipment at a Hampton should be working. There were also weights and a flat bench. Can't really break that. Haha! Pool looked clean, I saw a family having fun in it but pools aren't really my thing so I can't attest to it's cleanliness! ha! Continental breakfast was good. Hot eggs, omelettes with some peppers in it, bacon, toast/bagels, yogurt, waffle machine, juice, and of course coffee. The coffee was pretty good here I have to say. I think I downed about 3 cups in the morning. ha! The only issues I had was the room phone was not working. It had major static every time I tried to call the front desk and when a woman came up to fix it, well it wasn't fixed. Also, I could not connect to their wifi with the password they gave me, so I eventually had to walk down to the front desk (due to my broken phone) and have someone help me connect. After a long drive that is a little annoying, but the problem was fixed nevertheless. Overall, very nice stay. Clean, comfy, hot breakfast, pleasant staff. I will definitely stay here again since I'm in the Durham area often. read more

I will not stay here again. For the first time EVER that I stayed in hotels, I was given a room that was not cleaned since previous guests left. Also, people who checked in before me got rooms , while I had to wait until I brought this issue to the manager , who did apologize. In addition, on the day that I left , we had to ask for clean towels as the room was not cleaned. The lady at front desk had an attitude , "do you want anything else ! " as if I am asking for big favors asking for clean towels ! Have some of the employees heard of customer service ? I am spending my hard earned money for this nonsense ? On top of that , for the first time ever , breakfast food was almost empty by 8:30 am , they had empty syrup canisters. Bad experience, people have choices and I learned it the hard way ! read more

Convenient off highway but hotel is very old and worn down. It has seen better days. Rooms are large and spacious but the carpet needs some deep cleaning - not just in rooms but hallways too. Linens and pillows should be replaced. Honestly the SMELL is what was the biggest turn off in our room - musty and old. Maybe there are better rooms but we only stayed one night and we just wanted to get out fast and be on our way. I try to avoid hotels which are pet friendly which may be the reason for the bad smells. The extra star I gave is because the Staff is exceptional and breakfast is very good. Unfortunately I will not book another Hampton Inn again based on this experience. If Hilton owns this chain, they should renovate and remodel for their reputation sake. read more

Hilton Brand is one of the best and this location was a good one. Check in and check out were seamless. The employees were all cheery and helpful during my one night on site. Good stay overall. The room was very nice and the bathroom was a step above previous Hampton Inn stays. It all felt very comfortable and clean. The bed was very comfortable as well. An added bonus was the bench in front of the large bed. The only downside to the room we were in on the fourth floor was the obnoxious rattling of the mini fridge. I think the fridge rattled constantly every hour throughout the night. I must've failed to realize the noise during the day because of the TV and other noises that drowned it out. I'm a deep sleeper, so when I was out...I didn't hear it. In the morning, I of course partook in the breakfast. It was a great spread with sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy, as well as all of the continental usuals. Great location right off of 85 as well. read more

Clean hotel in a good location. Complimentary breakfast is excellent and served until 10 am. It includes: -Waffle maker -Oatmeal bar (oats and three toppings to add including brown sugar, craisins, etc) -Hot bar today included scrambled eggs, fried kiebasa, French toast sticks -Toast, bagels, muffins, small pastries -Kellogg's cereal -Hard boiled eggs -Yogurt and fruit cups, apples, oranges -Coffee and hot water to make other hot drinks -Juice Kitchen staff was attentive, asked guests if they needed anything, and constantly tidying up the kitchen and sitting area. Basic king size room is clean and has a microwave and mini fridge, TV, desk, additional sitting chair. Big shower but shower head is really high up. Neutrogena products included. Indoor pool area was clean. Fitness was a step above other hotels this size- includes newer equipment in great condition- an elliptical, a few treadmills, a few exercise bikes. One mat, a jump rope, an exercise ball, a rack of dumbbells in 5lb increments from 5-50 lbs, and weighted balls from 2-8 lbs. Water cooler, cups, and towels in the room, as well as two TVs. I think this is a newer property and it is consistent with other Hampton Inns. The room layout is a bit different with a large credenza separating the room space. Bathroom is an open concept with the sink/vanity open to the room. My room also had a mini bar area with a bar sink, mini fridge and microwave. There is a complimentary hot breakfast in the morning and there was coffee and fresh baked cookies in the lobby in the evening. The inn shares a parking lot with a restaurant so it's good to have food nearby. Though it's right next to the highway, it was quiet for sleeping. There is also a pool (didn't see if it's indoor or outdoor), a business center, and a workout room. read more

However, despite being called an "and Suites", there are no true suites in the hotel, best you can hope for is a Studio Suite, which is just a big room with a mostly see through desk area dividing the room. Breakfast was insufficient for the guest at the hotel. My family of four came down to find only ONE pre-packaged breakfast. The front desk could only say their breakfast was for COVID-19 reasons. Everything was fantastic. Room was clean, front desk personnel were courteous, free breakfast was filling with plenty of seating for everyone. We had a problem (sofa bed had no sheets on it). We called the front desk and within 5 minutes sheets were not only delivered but put on the bed for us. And the best part was we never heard any neighbors! Rooms were well insulated from noise. This Hampton Inn also has suites. We were able to book a gigantic room with two queen beds AND a pull-out sofa bed. It was approximately twice the size of a normal two queen bed room, possibly a little larger. read more

Such a great stay. Our heat was having issues and we were going to be going in to a very cold weekend, so my husband and I bundled up with our 1 year old and headed to the Hampton. This hotel is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff was incredible. They were efficient and accommodating and made my husband and I feel very valued. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was also clean and roomy. The breakfast in the morning was great as well. What more can I say? Overall the hotel is really nice and comfortable. The one girl at the front desk doesn't seem to know what she was doing. She attempted multiple times to double charge the room, threatened that we would be kicked out even though room was paid for in full. On the plus side, the manager Mr Moody was amazing. He corrected everything and made everything right! On top of that, he worked the breakfast, desk, etc. Most of the staff was super friendly and helpful. The room was clean and roomy. I am currently staying here this weekend (to see Duke play) and I must say it is one of the cleanest hotels I have stayed at in quite a while. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming! We asked for suggestions for dinner and drinks because we are unfamiliar with the area and the receptionist took her time to write all her favorite places down for us and their locations. The complementary breakfast was full of great options of foods that were good brands that I would buy from the super market! Typically the breakfasts offered by hotels offer off brand items. The pool was spotless and I typically I am weary of using hotel pools. I jumped right in. I would highly recommend staying here if you are in the area!! read more

My mom and I had a nice five days here. The rooms were big, clean, the hotel feels very new. They have a decent breakfast in the am, and cookies in the afternoon. The location is unbeatable - so easy to get on and off the freeway. There really isn't anything around, which is a bummer...only one restaurant across the way. I wish they had some sort of long-term stay deal....seemed weird that the prices went up during the week, but it's because it's primarily a "business" hotel. Stayed here last week with my daughter. She had an scheduled test at Duke University Medical Center the next day. It happened to be the closest, reasonably priced hotel with available beds. We checked in very late and the front staff was great. They had the key ready and gave good directions for morning. The breakfast looked good but we didn't partake because of the testing. Not fair for me to eat if she couldn't. The only hang up was, we needed to print off some email records and 1 person was tying up the business room blocking our access to the printer. Instead we faxed what we needed to the hotel fax machine and the staff was great about our little work around. I would stay here again. read more
