Beach at rear of Hampton

I've always thought of Hampton Inns as clean, reliable places to stay when you're driving somewhere and can't make it all the way. Arrive late, check out early. I've never considered Hampton Inn's as a "destination" property or a place I'd stay at more than overnight. At the recommendation of friends, we spent the weekend here and were literally blown away. I chose my room (King, lake facing studio) on line and my phone was the digital key. Didn't even have to stop at the front desk. Our room was spacious with both north and west lake views as I chose a corner room. It was also nice, clean, and comfortable. The lake facing balcony was perfect for reading and enjoying all the wine and bourbon we bought with us. Highlights include a pretty decent breakfast. We usually go out but decided to try the hotel's and weren't disappointed. As the hotel is directly on Lake Michigan, the views from the room and just outside the hotel were fantastic. There were fire pits, tons of comfortable seating and something I've never seen at a Hampton before-a bar. There was also an indoor pool and outdoor hot tub which we didn't use. Property is dog friendly and this was not all a problem. I counted at least 10 dogs on property. Good dogs or good owners. Maybe both. Staff is friendly and helpful. A totally perfect stay. We will be back!

I was in Manistee for a conference. This was the hotel we were sent to and I was very pleased with it. The staff was great, they were very helpful and friendly. The rooms, restaurant, lobby, and gym facilities were clean and accessible. I was also very appreciative of the personal use items in the ladies public restrooms that were free to use (very thoughtful) I used everything the hotel had to offer as we were there during a winter storm. I really enjoyed the hot tub/pool. The morning breakfast and coffee was great for hotel breakfast. We visited the restaurant each evening and the staff there was great as well. The food/drinks from the restaurant were really good too. I only have photos from the bar as all other posted photos are a true representative of the hotel, which is newly constructed

The rooms and the pool were great! I definitely enjoyed staying here but the one thing I noticed is the breakfast items are never restocked. You have to either show up at/before 8:30 am or find a worker and ask them to bring out food. By 9:00 this is what some of the areas looked like, breakfast goes until 10.

We stayed here for the Manistee sleigh bell parade weekend. The building is nice the lobby was very welcoming and check in was quick and easy. The front desk people were very friendly let me know when and where breakfast was and answered any questions I had. When we went to the room it was very spacious and comfortable. We had a room that overlooked the lake and had a balcony. It was a beautiful view. The bathroom was also very spacious and had enough towels for all four of us. The beds are comfortable and the pillows are nice and fluffy. There is a mini fridge but no microwave in the room. Which was fine for us as we didn't have anything that needed heated. I just thought I'd mention it incase anyone was wondering. The pool is a bit small but it was clean and big enough to enjoy. The indoor outdoor hot tub is great. Especially on a snowy night like we had. It was delightful. The breakfast was pretty good. They had a selection of cheese or Denver omelette, make your own waffles (regular or blueberry), sausage, potatoes, oatmeal cereal, yogurt fruits and breads. They had 4 different juices milk, almond milk, chocolate milk coffee and hot water for tea or cocoa. We ate at the restaurant on the 5th floor and the entire staff was Incredibly polite (especially Kirk) and the food was very good.

City beach, lake view and balcony with 2 chairs. 2nd floor.

New hotel that just opened in 2023. It sits directly across from the city beach and one side has great views of Lake Michigan. Very modern building, nice decor. Everything still smells new. But dogs are allowed, so we'll see how long that lasts. Room was excellent and the bathroom was well supplied with body wash and shampoo in the shower. Our room had a refrigerator but no microwave. I believe the suites have a microwave. The lobby is nice, there is a small store area with drinks, both alcohol and non. It was $4 for a bottle of Coke. There is a free breakfast and it was one of the best I have encountered at a hotel. Even chocolate milk! The pool and hot tub are very nice. The hot tub is indoor/outdoor and has a separate switch for both sides. They are both open until midnight, which is great. There are gas fire pits that are lit at night and in the morning both. They are very nice to sit around on a cool day. There is an outside bar that they had closed and were winterizing. I recommend this hotel for your special occasions, ours was our 40th anniversary. Best price was at Super.com, $30 less than others.

First things first…read more.. Stacy and the rest of staff were amazing ! Ate at The Grille, staff there were amazing too! Desiree was our server and did a great job. Golf course is in very good condition. Played the short course, enjoyed it thoroughly, but if I'm being honest I can't say it's worth $49 for a 9 hole par 3 course. First morning my wife had no hot water at 9:30 a.m. No king size beds...

We stayed here for two nights, and had a fantastic time!…read more We arrived on Friday for our 11am tee time on The Retreat, and it was downpouring. We were concerned our golf weekend was going to be ruined, but we were informed that the course staff was working on cleaning up the course, and we should be able to tee off at 12:30! Perfect! We were hoping to be able to check-in to our room ahead of time, but the resort was full the night prior, so instead, we had lunch and a drink at the Grille. I ordered the BBQ Brisket Tacos, which were delicious! It came with three tacos and a side of chips. My boyfriend ordered the Whitefish Quesadillas, which don't sound very appetizing, but he likes quesadillas. We would not recommend them. They were so bland. We felt like we were eating Cream of Mushroom soup quesadillas. When we got to the tee box at 12:30pm, we were told that the other 18-hole course, The Revenge, was closed due to the heavy rain, so anyone golfing that course is now going to be fit onto The Retreat, which meant we would be paired with another twosome. I wasn't thrilled because it was supposed to be a couples getaway for us, and I also get very nervous playing with people I don't know. However, we got very lucky and were paired with a really fun couple! So, this ended up being a great experience, but be aware that if you are a twosome, you may get paired with another twosome. We finished our round only a few balls shorter than when we started (haha), and had dinner at the Grille. We both ordered burgers with fries (not pictured), and they were delicious! We sat outside on the back deck, which was nice, and our waitress, Gayle, was very friendly and attentive. We walked back to the resort, and had big plans to enjoy the pool or firepit, but instead crashed early from a long day on the course. Saturday morning we were looking for the "hot breakfast". I DO NOT RECOMMEND this breakfast. It's located at the Grille, and is $15/person for ham, sausage links, potatoes, and eggs - all of which were cold. It was gross. It was included in our package, but otherwise is $15/person, which is absurd. The hotel has an included breakfast with bagels, cereal, oats, and yogurt, which will suffice. Otherwise, there's Cafe 106 right downtown Manistee that has DELICIOUS BREAKFAST at reasonable prices. Since it poured again Friday night, we were worried we wouldn't be able to play The Revenge at 11am due it being under water. However, we were told we could play, but that it would be wet. Not a big deal. This course, like The Retreat, is absolutely beautiful! We warmed up at the driving range (right near The Revenge course) where I seemingly used all of my decent shots (haha!). We ended up venturing downtown Manistee for dinner and drinks to wrap up our stay here. The room is nothing fancy, but is nice, and I like that the resort has a fitness facility. Overall, our stay here was really great, and we would definitely visit again!

The location is absolutely perfect, as its right at lighthouse park at the mouth of the Manistee river at Lake Michigan - beaches galore at your fingertips...toe-tips My room was small, and had a queen bed. All was clean and absent of any sort of bad odors and stains. Everything was outdated, but in a delicious, kitschy way. The view out of my room was amazing, and there were plenty of chairs and tables available for enjoying the view from your front porch. They provided free Wi-Fi, and firewood for a bonfire we had one of our nights there. We were provided with minimal toiletries, so definitely bring your own. You'll also find barbecues and pretty much anything you need to enjoy a vacation on the beach. I highly recommend this place if you're on a budget, or if you're low-maintenance and value a beautiful view over luxurious accommodations.

While the timing was inconvenient, the larger concern was the staff's complete lack of empathy regarding the disruption and the effort involved in relocating all of our belongings, including clearing out the kitchen and food items. I requested a refund for the remaining nights so we could move to another hotel, which required approval from the property since the reservation was made through a third-party booking service. Although staff verbally stated they were willing to accommodate this, they repeatedly refused to answer the calls needed to authorize the refund. This lack of cooperation made an already stressful situation unnecessarily difficult.

Immediately upon walking into our room (202), the air felt damp and it smelled really musty. I turned on the air conditioner and it smelled like mold. When I looked inside the vent, I could see it was covered in mold. There was also mold in the bathroom around the edges of the shower After that I returned to the front desk and explained that I didn't want to be a bother, but because of my extreme allergy to mold, I would like a refund so that I could book elsewhere. The man at the desk immediately took a condescending tone for the rest of our interaction, and told me I was wrong and that it was not mold and that I didn't know what I was talking about. It was 100% mold. My company does large scale mold remediation; I've seen LOTS. When I said that we'd just have to agree to disagree, but that I would still like a refund, he rolled his eyes and doubled down on his assertion that I was wrong and said that they have a policy of no refunds and refused to issue one, pointing to the no refunds disclaimer on the receipt. I had a choice of eating the cost and leaving to get a room elsewhere, or staying and putting up with the mold. We stayed and my allergies were miserable all night long. That was hands down one of the worst experiences I've had as a customer of any business, period. I was talked down to and treated like straight garbage. There are so many better places near here. Stay far, far away.

The room was recently modernized, nice flat screen TV with good amount of channels, and nice sized room. The room and bathroom looked and felt clean, inside and out. Building looked maintained. The sink was separate from the rest of the bathroom; the bathroom was a good size with a shower/ tub with curved shower rod! The shower had good water pressure. The shampoo and conditioner was good - which was good since I forgot conditioner. The bed was a little softer than I'd prefer, but was still comfortable. There was a desk with a chair - which I tuned into a make up vanity. There was also a kinda-lazy boy chair - it was nice to have another chair option. The freezer didn't freeze anything, but kept them frozen. The a/c worked great, and we even had to turn to it "fan only" in the middle of the night. Breakfast was self-serve waffles, cold cereal, yogurt, juice, water, coffee/tea, hard boiled eggs There is no public restroom in the lobby area, so if you need to use restroom while enjoying breakfast, you need to hike back to your room. There is no elevator, so ask for a room in first floor if you need it. Big negative, although this is a non-smoking hotel, we saw hotel staff smoking outside the back entrance (this was the smoking area). I don't like people smoking at the doors because the smell always travels inside and I don't want to walk through a cloud of smoke. If traveling back the the area, I would stay here again.

As a current non-smoker and the smell being nauseating to myself, I'd understand and appreciate one phone call. However, it was to the point of harassment and was extremely annoying; especially since the bedroom phone hardly worked, it was missing over half of the keys, and I did not want to spend my relaxing time answering the hotel room's broken phone.
