Felt like I was in the movie " the shining" very creepy! We stopped to stay here on our way home from Florida. I stayed in a Hampton inn there, and it was wonderful ,so decided to look for one along our route home. Very disappointed!!! This place was filthy! The floors in the lobby should have been my first warning , filthy!! I asked for a handicapped room as I was traveling with my 86 yr old mother . With 4 cars in the parking lot, I was told they didn't have an available room. The room smelled like urine and when I turned down the comforter , it was stained with brown stains. I called to have it replaced, the girl knocked on the door and handed it to me with attitude. The carpets were musty and badly stained. There was not a soul in the place ..us and the 3 employees I saw. Outside was littered with garbage...Very disappointing especially having "the Hilton " name attached . read more

Updating/cleaning rooms. Santiago at the front desk was very professional & courteous. The key programmer was not working so he had to walk me to the room and let me in. Not a real issue because I got there late in the evening. The room stunk, and that's being kind. It felt and smelt like an old mop. The mattress was old & crushed and the carpeting almost felt wet. I made Santiago aware but powered through it, I had an early AM appointment. We're very loyal to the Hilton brand and avoid others that have fallen into lower standards. This is not what we expect. Arrived late here for a night and had a soccer tournament with my kids. It smelled a little musty but we were tired and just went to sleep. When we woke up the next morning we were mortified to find black mold all over the wall next to where my daughter had been sleeping all night. There was mold all through the picture frame and around the smoke detector and fire sprinkler. This was not just a bit of a dated room as previous posts had discussed this was a toxic hazard. We immediately left the hotel and they told us we would still have to pay for the room. Brianna the operations manager was aware that someone from her staff had come into the room and looked around and thought yeah this place is ready for guests. I have only seen this type of unsafe housing situation is military barracks in developing countries, and this was in a Hilton hotel not a Motel Six. I would keep your families safety in mind and avoid this hotel like the plague. Which by the looks of it may also be an issue. Does not represent Hilton standards at all. If I could give negative stars I would. This place is a DUMP. We had multiple rooms and they all smelled musty/moldy/pet urine. Like intense the second you open the room door you get hit with it. The room also is super moist so bed covers and anything you leave out gets damp. Even my cash left out on the desk was damp! The first room I was assigned had a nasty smell (doggy or moldy or combination) then I found dog food on the carpet. I was assigned a new room. It smelled, too.....Disuse? Moldy? Old? Musty? I only stayed because of how long I had been traveling. I held out hope that setting the conditioning on high would help get rid of the smell. I suggest staying anywhere else...this is so not what I expect from Hampton. read more

Have stayed here many times in the past when visiting family but will never come back after this experience. Our room smelled like a wet dog, heavy with moist, cold air. We hoped running the AC would help but even the bed sheets felt damp and clammy. We requested a room change and were given an adjoining room on the same corridor, but it's only marginally less damp and smelly. Both of us feel sore throats coming on, like there's mold or mildew triggering an allergic reaction. We'll be finding a different hotel tomorrow. Will never book here again. read more

This Hampton Inn reminds me of the ones I used to stay in the 1980s. A bit dated, very basic, the room and the furniture have not been updated as some of the more modern Hampton Inns around. The staff was very friendly and they provide a boxed breakfast to go during the pandemic. As you can see from the tissue dispenser, it needs replacement or a thorough cleaning. Overall a basic bed on a road trip. Not bad. The good size fridge and MW were good things to have. Plenty of free parking right off the main entrance. read more

My girlfriend and I were traveling from Atlanta and needed a place to stay for the night. The front end person was very pleasant. She told us it was $162 for the night, the Richmond Hampton Inn which is 15 minutes away was $112, we were tired so we decided to stay. The first room they offered us reared of mildew, we could not even stand it. The second room was so outdated and dingy and in disrepair. The door had scratch marks on it, a make shift lock. We did not feel safe, plus a missing ceiling tile by the elevator, water dripping from the ceiling, the ac did not seem to work. We asked to leave and be credited, the front end person again was very nice. We went across the road to the Courtyard by Marriot, $152 for the night, modern, safe, clean, ac worked. read more

This Hampton Inn has a wonderful staff. However, that's all I can say. The decor is very dated. The room I had was a king size room. However, the room didn't have a comfortable chair. There was an uncomfortable desk chair. As I was sitting in the room at the end of the bed I realized my ears were hurting from a very high pitched squeal. Next, the air conditioning unit did not work. At this point I decided the safest I could do is go to sleep, at least I would be somewhat comfortable. Clean and comfortable. Best shower of our long drive from New Orleans to NJ during the pandemic. A short walk or car ride away, we enjoyed terrific Mexican food (Don Pepe) and a thoughtful mgr who kept the sparse diners well spaced in booths for good social distance. It was a joy to eat good food and a Mexican beer after all the difficult health newsof the day. Buffet breakfast was closed by government order but the mgr made sure we had extra coffee for the morning. A great stop. read more

We stayed for one night and we found this hotel as an excellent choice. Our room was clean and quiet. The beds were very comfortable. Bella at the front desk was a delight. The breakfast was your normal buffet but everything was fresh and tasty. Plenty of nearby restaurants for dinner. We would definitely visit again should the need arise. read more

Disability should not be in any way, shape or form related to Hilton. This hotel is creepy. My wife and I signed up for two nights there and decided never to stay. We paid for our two nights. We got our Hilton points out of it, but other than checking in and checking out, we were never at the hotel. This place looks like it is designed For prostitution and drug use the front desk is tucked away behind the walls that you can come and go without being seen by front desk staff it is filthy the parking lot which has not seen any attention or cleaning in months is much cleaner than the inside it is dark. It is dingy it is dirty, this is the dream location for illicit activity and by all means by location that you should run from for any other purpose do not bring your children here. Do not bring anything that you don't plan on burning when you leave just totally filthy I am 100% sure, the vast majority of there clientele are extended stay because they have nowhere else to be because nobody would choose to be here for $10 more. The Homewood suites across the street which is a solid three star hotel is so much cleaner and so much better than this place, which has not earned a single star, it is a complete rip off, and while I hope management replies to me on here the truth is there is absolutely no way that the owner the manager and every employee are not fully aware of how filthy this location is there's no way that Hilton is unaware of how it is laid outand that is used without a doubt for illicit activities. I'm surprised they don't rent rooms by the hour, but that would imply that they might be willing to clean a room ever. read more

Stayed at this Hampton Inn on our road trip through Virginia. Price was reasonable ($65/night) and the hotel was decent enough. The hotel is tucked down a hill and behind several other hotels and an apartment complex, so it's pretty far off the main road, and as a result, pretty quiet. Not too many options for decent food around, so be prepared to venture a bit for a meal. Staff was so-so: the guy behind the desk when we checked in was pretty unhelpful and seemed bothered to have to check us in. On the bright side though, they do offer fresh baked cookies in the afternoons, so that took the sting out of the unenthusiastic welcome. The lobby area has been recently refurbished and decorated in bright reds and golds, and as a result, looks extremely hip and modern. There's a large breakfast bar in the center and smaller booths and tables around the edge of the room, and a flatscreen TV so you can catch the news. In the morning, they serve a generous free breakfast, with eggs, bacon and sausage, biscuits, waffles, fruit, yogurt, pastries and bagels, and juice and coffee. The staff kept up with the breakfast area, constantly cleaning tables and refreshing the food so they never ran out of anything. In stark contrast to the lobby area, the rooms are in dire need of an update. They're clean, but very dated looking. The bedspreads were pretty worn and the 90s style wood furniture has got to go. I've stayed in lots of other Hampton Inns and they've all had much fresher accommodations than this. My main complaint is that it was very dark and dingy feeling in the rooms - they seriously need more light in them. Even in the morning with daylight, it still felt very dark. Each room has a TV, microwave, large refrigerator, and a dining table, and these amenities were much appreciated. The bathroom toiletries were also exceeded expectations, with lots of niceties like lotions and moisturizer. Honestly, I wouldn't choose this hotel for a long vacation or anything, but one night, it's more than serviceable. For $65, you get a quiet room, free breakfast - what more can you ask for? read more

Really not worth the price. My worse complaint was the internet access. I usually bring two laptops. I went during a business trip and I was working Thursday/Friday. The claim of "Free Wifi", is far from the truth. They provide free complementary WiFi at significantly reduced speed. Takes several seconds for a webpage to load and it was so slow I couldn't VPN into my work reliably. Doing a conf call with video was difficult, had to cut off incoming/outcoming video and had just a voice call. My room was in the back of the hotel and signal service was bad, so no tethering from my phone. You will see people in the parking lot with their phones, because they can't get it in the hotel. Many hotels will invest in 3g/4g/gsm repeaters for this. Thank god I didn't have to present and/or demo something during my stay. Their "premium" internet is $4.99 a day!!! I've never seen a hotel do this. Some areas of the room appear dated. The room security seems lax. Our top sash lock was cracked/broken (picture). They are using older tech Vingcard door entry systems which use traditional magnetic stripe. Many hotels have since switched to contactless card readers which are much more reliable and secure. These Vingcard locks are difficult because keys might need reprogramming and/or it takes several tries to get into your room (our case). This is old tech as I remember these back in 2000!! There was a jagged piece of metal sticking out from the side of my daughter's bed. Our entry light within the entryway of our room was burnt out (would flicker etc). A call to the front desk and they will send someone out to replace it THE NEXT DAY, of course the person NEVER CAME. They should change the name of their breakfast boxes to bullshit boxes. I had a dried up bagel in a plastic bag, some Yoplait and cream cheese. Everyone is using COVID as an excuse to reduce quality of service in saving money. read more

I stayed at this hotel with my wife while returning to PA from FL. The motel was very clean all over. The breakfast was excellent and the employees were all very nice. The only problem was the ceiling in my room needed repainted and the light fixture in my bathroom did not have a cover. Everything else was in good repair and well maintained. The breakfast had western omelettes, apple wood smoked bacon and redskin home fried potatoes. Very nice hotel. The desk clerk recommended a restaurant named O Charlie's for dinner which was a disappointment. I don't recommend you eat there. read more

This place is not good. I stay at Hamptons all the time, and I definitely don't expect anything fancy, but this location is a dump. My room smelled so musty and damp, it was nearly intolerable. Wallpaper was peeling off the wall in the bathroom. Terrible fluorescent lighting. I don't think I've ever slept on a harder, more uncomfortable bed. We stayed here because my nephew was staying here. So glad we did. I have never been so impressed with the staff of a motel. Everyone was friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. I did not walk by anyone that didn't smile and say hello. The manager, Tray, checked up on us to insure we were comfortable. The entire motel was clean, and well lit and quiet. Would never stay here! Arrived to find a construction crew jack hammering the whole entrance area. Went into lobby area and no one came out to check me in or greet me. The place was dismal looking and smelled awful. I left and went down the road to a Hilton Garden Inn that was more in keeping with the Hilton franchise quality. I was charged 177$ for a room i did not stay in, yes i understand the reservation policy but on top of that Hilton informs me that even though i paid for the room i am not entitled to rewards points. Although the staff are friendly and helpful, this hotel does not deliver the expected quality standards. --There were 2 buckets (collecting water?) in the hall beneath ceilings which were damaged by moisture. --The breakfast buffet was limited, but DID have a Hampton Inn waffle machine with a broken waffle batter dispenser. In my room: --The small, outdated bathroom had old, damaged grout and a tired looking tub. --The little sink and vanity are about thigh high, and I'm not a tall person. --The TV and remote were old. --Two of the lights in the room were not working, one was dangling from the wall. --Basically, the room is not inviting and in need out updating. In short, the next time I'm in the Chester, VA area, I'll be staying at a different hotel. read more

Older property with a well appointed lobby and breakfast area, they're modern and updated, the rooms are a little less so, clean but some surface dust in some areas, the wi-fi which is complimentary worked pretty well, it did slow down during certain hours during my stay but my true issue was my cellular service was extremely spotty and sometimes non~existent, not sure what was going on but it was like that my entire stay, the hotel sits down hill from the road tucked away in a cul de sac with many other buildings surrounding, perhaps there's a signal issue? There is a micro/fridge in the room which is always convenient, I wish they all had them. They serve a hot breakfast from 6-10 Am, not sure of the quality as I did not attend, I did see fruit and pastries in the area along with juice and water. It can be a bit noisy during the morning hours as the housekeeping staff were literally yelling down the hall at one another and slamming doors pretty loudly, I was awakened at 1 Am one morning by staff sliding a receipt under my door, not sure why they do this but it's a huge sleep breaker if they're rattling papers under the door in the early morning hours, I think the practice should end altogether. The staff I came into contact with were very nice, customer service oriented, friendly and professional, they have cookies at the desk as a treat while checking in but no bottled water for Hilton Honors members, they honor gov/military discount, pleasant stay overall, I would stay again if in the area. read more

My phone was dead and she gave me her phone cord and when that didn't work she called from the desk phone for me. The young lady (Sade) was remarkable and is in need of a promotion or at least a pay raise. If I owned the place I would send her to hotel management school. She even hooked me up with dinner! We come to Chester, VA to see family several times a year. Each time, we end up staying at a different hotel in the area. We picked Hampton Inn because of previous experiences in other locations. This location did not disappoint. Rooms are clean and the property is extremely quiet. Hampton Inn continues to have the best hot breakfast of any major family hotel chain. This is by far the best Hampton inn we have stayed at. We needed a hotel for just one night on our way to Georgia from Connecticut. I called to make a reservation while we were on the road and the front desk person, Jessica was awesome! Very customer service oriented. We made the reservation with her. When we met her up n person she was so nice. In the morning the breakfast was great and Karen the breakfast coordinator was awesome!!!!! Stood here last year....no problem. This year, the toilet and water pressure was bad. A good running toilet and water are important. They sent a maintenance man to service the toilet and he put some caustic chemical in the toilet that (why am I not surprised) did not do the trick. We arrived late on our trip though the night. After reading reviews of all neighboring hotels this one seems like the best option. The front desk clerk was pleasant and accommodating. The lobby was clean and fairly updated. Once we arrive in our room we were smacked with a musty smell, older home I suppose. The beds were firm, which we prefer soft, so that's personal preference. AC worked great. Showers were very hot (we liked). Breakfast in the morning had a good variety of food to choose from, so basically what you could expect from a hotel breakfast. Check out was easy. If I had to come through this area again I would "maybe" stay again based on the bad reviews of the neighboring hotels. read more
